5. Skipper Certification

  • To graduate to the rank of Skipper Level 1 you must:
    • Complete the Skipper Course and
    • The Maneuvering Under Power Clinic and
    • Have a minimum of 10 days sailing on the water
      • on a sailboat 28 foot (8m) or greater in length
      • 5 days of which must be as Master of the vessel

6. Bareboat Charter Master

  • To gain the Rank of Bareboat Charter Master you must:
    • Have completed the requirements for Skipper
    • Completed the Bareboat Charter Clinic
    • Completed the Coastal Navigation Clinic
    • Have a minimum of 50 days on the water
      • 25 of which must be as Master of the vessel

7. NauticEd Captain

  • To gain the Rank of NauticEd Captain you must:
    • Have completed the requirements for Bareboat Charter Master
    • Completed the Sail Trim Clinic
    • Completed the Safety at Sea Clinic
    • Completed the Storm Tactics Clinic
    • Completed the Weather Clinic
    • Have a minimum of 50 days on the water
      • 25 of which must be as Master of the vessel

8. Levels I through V

  • Within each Rank, there are levels:
    • Level I is 10 days qualifying experience on the water.
    • Level II is 25 days qualifying experience on the water.
    • Level III is 50 days qualifying experience on the water.
    • Level IV is 100 days qualifying experience on the water.
    • Level V is 200 days qualifying experience on the water.
  • Your NauticEd Certification is online and advances are posted in real time
  • Print it out, frame it and put it on your office wall.

  • We encourage Students to get practical training from an affiliated practical training sailing school
  • The Verified Proficiency Mark adds value to your NauticEd Sailing Certificate because it proves your proficiency
  • An affiliated practical training sailing school administers the training and practical test out to NauticEd strict standards.
  • Once passed, the instructor logs into NauticEd and clicks the practical proficiency check mark on your online logbook.
  • Your Certification is then instantly updated ready for you to print out and/or send to a yacht charter company.

  • Local Sailing Places is a FREE resource for everyone to learn, enter and edit content about their local sailing area such as:

16. Post Graduate Flotilla

  • Twice per year we grab a group of NauticEd friends and head out some where - typically, Tonga, the British Virgin Islands or other selected locations.
  • You captain your charter boat with your friends and family.
  • We keep the flotilla small to about 5-6 boats. It's a lot of fun.
  • We look after all the logistics, keep a watchful eye on everyone with daily navigation briefings, fun races, prize givings, blue duck awards, beach races, treasure hunts and more.
  • Details and invites are announced regularly to NauticEd registered students.
