What is the NYAA?

in several areas
Areas
• Service
• Adventurous Journey
• Skills
• Physical Recreation
• Residential Project (Gold only)

• Anyone can do this – everyone should do
this
• We will start with the Bronze award this year
for Year 10
• We intend that all DCSG Year 10 students
will participate – you will be doing a
component of it during your Year 10 trip
• This is not extra work but will gain credit for
activities that most students are doing
anyway
• It will prepare you for the CAS part of the IB
diploma.

What do I do next?
1. Fill in the enrolment form
2. Parents sign the form
3. Return form to Form Tutors
How will we keep track of students’ achievements?
• Students will record their progress using “ManageBac” (an application students will be introduced
to soon)
• Each student will have a teacher guiding them
Who knows? Maybe our
“Adventurous Journey” will
take us to the moon!
Q&AHow long does it take?
• Proceed at your own pace and take as long as you like provided you finish the programme before
your 25th birthday.
Do school (lesson) activities count?
• No, but ECAs can.
Can I change the activities for the programme?
• Yes, though you are encouraged to stick to one activity.
Can I continue to do the same activity for a higher level?
• Yes, you can. However, we encourage you to try new things to broaden your horizons and
development.
Can I use past activities for the programme?
• No, only activities that you have undertaken after you've signed up can be credited for the
programme.
How difficult is it?
• Doing the NYAA is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young
people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements consistently. Of course, the
NYAA Programme can be quite demanding but it is very rewarding.
