ABOUT POORNIMA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

Applied science is a discipline of science that applies existing scientific knowledge to develop more practical applications, like technology or inventions. Applied science seeks to improve or invent devices, methods, or processes so they have better output faster or slower, lighter, more efficient, less expensive, more durable, etc. Science and technology are closely linked to important national objectives in such areas as economic growth, health care, national security, and environmental protection. Sustainable development is probably the most daunting challenge that humanity has ever faced. Scientific knowledge and appropriate technologies are central to resolving the economic, social and environmental problems that make current development paths unsustainable. Good science is essential for good governance.

APPLIED SCIENCES

The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional non-profit making society registered under the Society registration act of 1860. The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) was established in the college in the year 2009-2010 . The objective of the ISTE Chapter to keep the faculty & students members of the college updated about the recent technologies to make an effective linkage between technical institutions, industry and society.

ABOUT ISTE

SEMINAR OBJECTIVEØ The focus of the seminar is to establish an effective platform for scientists, engineers,

educators, students and industrialists from all over the nation to share their ideas and findings.

Ø To provide an interdisciplinary forum on global sustainable development for students, researchers, academicians, and industries

Ø To discuss the practical challenges encountered in promoting sustainable development and the solutions adopted in the field of alternative energy resources.

Ø To encourage start-ups in the area of green technology

Ø To know the Importance of Hygiene in Everyday Life

Ø To create awareness and enrich the delegates about the present health services and sanitation

Ø To generate attention around green technology, sanitation, health and environment which needs, to promote timely collective action.

Ø An Acquaintance with Green Technology & its multifaceted aspects imbibed with Mechanical Engineering.

Ø Technical know-how of Mechanical Engineering for sophisticated Green Building

National Seminar on

INNOVATIVE GREEN TECHNOLOGIESFOR SUSTAINABLE SANITATION,

HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of PCE came into existence in the year 2004 with an alignment of the department’s evolution with key events and technological advances for the betterment of society and nation. At present, it has the intake of 180 students providing all the amenities of infrastructure related to knowledge, research, experiments and training of multiple professions. Poornima believes that Mechanical Engineering is evergreen branch in the engineering profession. Therefore, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has renowned scholars as the faculty members for imparting the knowledge. It has been taking initiatives for the versatile enhancement of the students through the technical, cultural and sport fests since its establishment.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

In consequence of spiraling global environmental concerns such as global warming, climate change and depleting energy resources green technology has emerged as an important trend and the development in 21st century. It is believed that development will lead to global, sustainable and macro economic powers that impact economics, societies, culture and way of life in future. The theme of seminar covers different categories of green technologies (e.g. Green Buildings, Renewable Energy, Energy Conservation, Cleaner Transportation, Carbon Capture & Storage Environmental Remediation) which will help to attain the sustainable development. Green technology, an eco-friendly clean technology contributes to sustainable development to conserve the natural resources and environment which will meet the demands of the present and future generations. All of these eco-friendly

technologies will help to reduce the amount of waste and pollution and enhance the nation’s economic growth in a sustainable manner. The purpose of the seminar is to bring together participation from a wide variety of interests to explore the possibilities to solve important problems and to create a forum for discussion, and hopefully, a consensus on how scientific principles and awareness can combined in order to create conditions for real breakthrough in present disastrous situation in sanitation , health and environment sector. It also aiming to widely disseminate the recommendations of the Seminar for fruitful and meaningful implementation of program to cope with the problem.
