The proposed seminar will benefit the students, teachers, research scholars working in various areas of crop improvement. The objectives are listed below,
1. To improve the various biotic and abiotic traits in crops through classical plant breeding techniques
2. To disseminate and refine the knowledge of molecular breeding & biotechnology and its benefits to agriculture
3. To update the plant genomics information to students, teachers and researchers
4. To integrate the various disciplines of agriculture for the achievement of innovative crop improvement

The papers presented in the conference will be published in the form of proceedings by the Indian Society of Plant Breeders. The abstract may be prepared as per the format of the Electronic Journal of Plant Breeding (https://sites.google.com/site/ejplantbreeding/guide-to-authors). An author can present only one paper. A National Seminar is jointly organized by the Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics and Department of Biotechnology at Agricultural College and Research Institute (AC&RI), Madurai, in collaboration with Indian Society of Plant Breeders (ISPB). The national seminar is conducted on the eve of Golden Jubilee Celebration at AC&RI Madurai
Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, the second biggest constituent College of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University established in the year 1965 is celebrating the Golden Jubilee Year of its establishment. It was upgraded as Post Graduate centre during 1969 and as Research Institute in 1980. It is placed at the foothill of historical monument Yanamalai, a small rocky mountain on the western side. This campus is accommodating 650 under-graduate, post-graduate students and Ph.D. scholars. Madurai was adjudged as the best College in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University twice during 2002 and 2008
ISPB was established during 1995. More than 500 breeders from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Central Institute for Cotton Research, Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding and breeders from private companies and institutions and retired plant breeders are members of this forum.
The participating delegates are requested to make their own arrangements for stay at Madurai. However, help will be provided for the delegates in the identification of suitable hotels for stay.
