The Paralympic Message has been created by Islamic Republic of Iran National Paralympic Committee (IRINPC) in order to reflect the relevant activities, initiatives and achievements of NPC, Federations and related Councils. This twice - in - a - month leaflet is published and distributed nationally and internationally in both Persian and English for any persons or communities who contribute towards disability sports. This is the first publication, provided by NPC experts and staff; and we really welcome any articles, suggestions and comments from respected colleagues and experts to enrich the quality of this leaflet. On 24th February, 2010 Asian Para Games Medalists in Guangzhou were awarded in an appreciation ceremony attended by IRI President and his Vice President in Martyr Foundation, High–ranked officials of Physical Education Organization (PEO), NOC, NPC, some Members of Parliament and some other sports officials.

These medalists received the same awards that the 2010 Asian medalists had received before, without any discrimination.

The President declared that sports produce strength and determination based on love and honesty. 'Fluttering a flag in a competition doesn't deny other participants, but it motivates them to do their bests', he said.

He expressed his gratitude to 2010 Asian Para Games Medalists and all Iranian athletes participated in Guangzhou and stated,' Your achievements showed the grandeur of all human, especially Iranian people, and I am proud of you'. 'I believe that when Iranian young scientists and athletes intend to achieve any goal, they will reach it undoubtedly,

because this is the great lesson that they have learned from Imam Khomeini', he added. In addition, NPC President, Mr. Khosravivafa appreciated the organization of the ceremony and he also thanked Mr. President and PEO Officials for the equality of the prizes between National Olympic and Paralympic champions. Dr. Sajjadi, Vice President of Physical Education Organization, made a presentation on some technical issues and results of Moharram Delegation.

'Iranian athletes created the sweetest days in 2010 by gaining colorful medals in different international venues.'

Dr. Saeidlou, the Vice President & PEO President, said. During the inauguration Ceremony of Dayhim Sports Complex in East of Tehran, he responded to the reporters: 'On average, our athletes gloried in their sporting successes every week in this year which shows they have well done in championships'. He pointed out the brilliant achievements of IRI athletes in 2010 Asian & Asian Para Games in Guangzhou and added that PEO will

do all his best for promotion of sports in Iran. Dr. Saeidlou claimed all sports are taken into consideration by PEO and remarked,' Iranian skiers have recently gained one silver and two bronze medals in Kazakhstan Asian Winter Games for the first time, which shows other sports are also developing in our country'. 'Many sports facilities were constructed during 9th and 10th Presidential terms in order that all the Iranian youth of the farthest points can have access to these facilities.' He said,' you notice the opening of many different sports complexes in different provinces these days. About 304 sporting projects have put into operation with a budget of 140 Milliard Tomans in 10-Day Fajr decades.

In 2010 Asian Para Games Medalists appreciation ceremony, NOC President, Mr. Aliabadi, said to the

reporters that athlete with disabilities did an impressive achievement and gained great results in 2010 Asian

Para Games in Guangzhou. Their remarkable achievement in the first Asian Para Games is so admirable.

Saeidlou: This year was the sweetest year in Iran's Sports.

'We are planning for a great success in London 2012 Paralympic Games in order to increase our medals. As we

know our athletes, I am absolutely certain that we will attain our goals in individual sports and team

sports.' said Mr. Khosravivafa, NPC President. He also emphasized that, if it is necessary, they will recruit foreign coaches in any sports, to gain an acceptable position in these Games. However, we should keep in mind that other opponents try to get closer to us in these Games.

2011 IPC Athletics World Championships took place in Christchurch, New Zealand, with attendance of more than 1000 athletes from 72 countries on 19-30 January 2011.

After their brilliant success in 2010 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou, our Athletics National

Team that composed of 10 athletes

took part in 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships where they gained 22nd place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. The medalists are: Abdolreza Jokar: Javelin (gold) Seyed Erfan Hosseini: Javelin (silver) Javad Hardani: Javelin (silver), Discus (bronze) Farzad Sepahvand: Discus (bronze) Peyman Nasiri: 1500 m (gold) Ahmadreza Kazemi: 200 m (bronze) Jalal Khakzadiyeh: Discus (bronze) The gold and silver medalists have been qualified according to MQS of

London 2012. In these Games, Mr. Bahman Rezaei was the head coach and

Mr. Mostafa Bahrami was the coach.

IRI blind and visually impaired athletes are currently training in the related

preparatory camps in order to attend in the 4th IBSA World Championships as a very powerful team. These competitions will be

organized on 1-10 April 2011 in Antalya, Turkey. Our 80 athletes will participate in different sports such as, Judo, Athletics, Swimming, Powerlifting, Football 5-a-side and

Chess. Their training camps will complete in recent days. These competitions will be organized for B1 Football 5-a-side, B2 Football 5-a-side, Powerlifting, Chess, Athletics, Swimming and Goalball.

NPC officials, federations' delegates and some experts in sport for the disabled attended in the first policy council meeting in order to formulate policies that will meet our decisions, strategies and goals for London 2012 Paralympic Games.

It should be noted that the attendance are: Mr. Afsharzade (NOC SG), Mr. Khosravivafa (NPC P), Mr. Karegary (NPC VP), Mr. Ebrahimi (NPC SG), Mr. Sharei and Mr. Monkaresi (PEO delegates), Mr. Karimi (Secretary), Dr. Barjasteh, Dr. Zand and Dr. Moshref Javadi (Sports experts).

Aims/Goals: Keep and/or promote our sports position in terms of our position in Beijing Paralympic Games.

Strategy:

Select and concentrate on gold (elite) medalist athletes.

Increase more gold medals than Beijing Paralympic Games.

Policies:

Provide and organize especial plans for every individual athlete and constant monitoring.

Set the priority in sports and designate the necessary quorum (norm) for each sport.

Recruit technical experts and professions for high level competitions.

Have a serious doping control. NPC's & two main federations'

close supervision of priority sports Provide conditions and facilities

like what will be in London 2012 Paralympic Games and complied with IPC Rules and Regulations

Provide purposive dispatches for international games.

Council organized 20-day training camps within 4 phases in order to select 10 athletes to participate in 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand.

It should be mentioned that Athletics National Team gained 8 medals in New Zealand 2011 Athletics World Championships and have been allocated 4 slots for London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Football 7-a-side: Football 7-a-side National Team has

recently finished 2 phases of 18-day preparatory camps to participation in the World Championships and also getting MQS for London 2012 Paralympic Games. The third phase is carrying on now. There were 20 athletes in the first phase, 15 athletes in the second phase, and 14 athletes in the third phase.

This team is training for 2011 CPISRA Football 7-a-side World Championships in The Netherlands to gain slot for London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Judo: Judo Council has organized 2 training camps for selected National Team

athletes to attend successfully in 4th IBSA World Championships, Turkey.

These camps took 25 days in total and the team was trained for up-to-date applicable tactics and possible techniques against opponents by Mr. Golkar and Mr. Gharegozlou (coach) and Mr. Shomali (fitness expert).

Powerlifting: Powerlifting Council prepared a 12-day

training camp for 12 elite athletes in different weights in Tehran to participate in 2011 World Youth Championships.

Football 5-a-side: Football 5-a-side council held one-week preparatory camp in order to select 10 out of 22 eligible athletes as our National Team to dispatch to IBSA World Championship in Turkey. Mr. Hosseinzadeh was the head coach and Mr. Shaddel and Mr. Amirian were the coach in this camp. Furthermore, the National Team will be trained in the next camp(s) before participation in the Championships.

Table Tennis: National Female Table Tennis Team has

been preparing for a powerful attendance in the World Youth Championships. Table Tennis council selected 7 elite athletes and held a one-week training camp to prepare them to participate in IWAS World Youth Championships. Mrs. Balouchi trained them in technique and tactic terms.

IWAS World Youth Championships will be held on 14-21 April 2011 in Dubai on Athletics, Powerlifting and Table Tennis Sports.
