Mission StatementThe mission of the NDP Task Force is to mobilize unified public prayer for America.

About the MinistryThe National Prayer Committee formed a national prayer subcommittee in 1981, which became the National Day of Prayer Task Force in 1989. Led first by Vonette Bright, then by Shirley Dobson, Anne Graham-Lotz, Ronnie Floyd, and now Kathy Branzell.

Since 1952, there have been annual proclamations by the President of the United States and since 1993 from governors and other state leaders, encouraging all Americans to pray on the National Day of Prayer. Today, tens of thousands of events, reaching millions of people, are coordinated by thousands of NDP Task Force volunteer coordinators across the nation on the First Thursday of May.

Dear Friends,To God be the Glory, great things He has done! The words of that great hymn overflow from my heart as I write to you to give thanks for all that God has done in and through the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and to share what He is calling us to in 2020. Your prayers and support have been a vital part of expressing and expanding unity and love across America, as our themes express the words we pray, and also obey.

We continue to live out unity and love as our prayers turn to our 2020 National Day of Prayer theme, “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth” from the theme verse Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.”

We exist for God’s glory, and because of His glory; it is a gift we have experienced and are called to share and spread. 2 Corinthians 4:6 sharpens our prayer focus of the knowledge of His glory, “For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” We are praying that God will use the National Day of Prayer Task Force to shine and spread the beautiful, sovereign, name of Jesus across the earth. As we mobilize unified public prayer for America, our hearts beat for spiritual awakening and revival in America and around the world. As we gather to pray on the first Thursday in May, we give thanks for daily prayers and opportunities to share the love and message of Jesus where we live, work, worship, learn and throughout the seven centers of cultural influence in America.

God has prompted NDP prayers, participation and partnerships to pray God’s glory on and across every campus from middle school through college. Whether you have biological or spiritual children, or grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or if you even rocked babies in your church nursery; we know you want the next generation to experience and express the glory of Jesus in their lives and on their school campus. We will focus our prayers and plans on the next generation through daily prayer and partnering opportunities that will both reach, and teach them how, to experience and express the glory of God.

2020 has been declared, “The Year of the Bible” and we are committed to be a part of the goal of increasing Bible engagement across America as there are no greater words than those that are God-breathed, for us to pray, read and share with a hurting and lost world. God’s glory is best shared in His own words, and through the prayers and testimony of His people.

Thank you for your prayers and faithful support. Your prayers and gifts allow us to continue to gather millions of people in tens of thousands of events across America on the National Day of Prayer and to serve God every day by modeling and mobilizing a prayer that battles the darkness, anger and division that seeks to overtake America.

Please prayerfully consider your end of year gift to the National Day of Prayer Task Force, as your generosity will help fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord!

For His Glory,

Kathy Branzell, President

Nationally Broadcast Observances from Washington D.C.On May 7th, 2020 our Annual National Observance on Capitol Hill, will be broadcast and streamed to millions of people as we call our nation to prayer on the National Day of Prayer. Then in the evening, we will partner with Nick Hall, PULSE, the Table Coalition and the Together movement to bring a second ‘LIVE’, multi-generational broadcast focusing on Prayer and the Proclamation of the Gospel.

GO2020 Strategic OutreachGO2020 is a key partnering initiative of the National Day of Prayer, Global Outreach Day, and other key ministries world-wide. NDP has committed to assist in providing resources, planning, promoting, and participating throughout the month of May 2020 to engage in prayer and evangelism. The National Day of Prayer has been asked to launch GO2020 at the beginning of the month, and to serve in various roles culminating with Global Outreach Day at the end of May. The global goal is to mobilize 100 million believers to pray and reach 1 billion people with the Gospel.

National Leadership Summit 2020 - PhiladelphiaIn September of 2020, we will gather hundreds of our volunteer coordinators from across the nation for our annual, national summit for vision casting, relationship building, leadership development, and training. Our annual summits are critical for the development of strategic relationships, year-round prayer mobilization and ministry, partnering, collaboration, and announcing our annual mobilization theme including prayer prompts and year-long action steps.

Looking Forward to 2020In the next year, we plan to multiply our ministry impact through these key, strategic initiatives:

In 2020, our theme will be

PRAY GOD’S GLORY ACROSS THE EARTH,based upon Habakkuk 2:14 which proclaims this message of hope,

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

Year of the Bible 2020 Partnering with The Table Coalition (formerly Mission America), the America Bible Society, and others, we will play an integral role through our coordinators, media and resources in praying, promoting, and proclamation of the Word of God. By focusing on these, we will be encouraging and equipping believers in the importance of Acts 6:4, echoing the Apostles words and focus – “we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”

Multi-generational InitiativesAlong with the live evening event from Washington D.C. on the National Day of Prayer, we will:

1. Partner with Cru, Intervarsity and multiple other campus ministries in the EveryCampus initiative to mobilize prayer and gospel movements on every campus in the country.

2. Offer internships to invest in, develop, and inspire the next-generation of ministry leaders.

3. Participate in Together 2020 and other initiatives focusing on developing a ‘Prayer, Care, Share’ lifestyle.
