1. International

a. WHO has urged countries to invest more in public health sector to recover

from impacts of COVID-19.

b. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that England has decided to impose new

socializing rules after virus spike.

c. AstraZeneca Plc has said it has paused global trials of the experimental

coronavirus vaccine due to an unexplained illness in a study participant.

d. China's biggest airshow event (Biennial China International Aviation and

Aerospace Exhibition) cancelled due to pandemic.

e. Governor of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, has said that it will reinstate wide-

scale social restrictions “as soon as possible” because of a rise in COVID

infections threatens to strain its health system.

f. Venezuelan President has proposed administering a Russian COVID-19

vaccine to nearly 15,000 candidates.

g. Serum Institute of India said that trials of AstraZeneca Plc's COVID-19 vaccine is

ongoing and has not faced any issues.

h. Zimbabwe has announced to resume domestic flights from Thursday and

international flights from next month to boost tourism, with mandatory COVID-

19 clearance certificates.

i. Egypt Air will resume direct flights between Cairo and Moscow as of

September 17, at the rate of three flights per week.

j. Sweden carried out a record number of new coronavirus tests last week with

only 1.2% coming back positive.

2. National

a. Japanese Ambassador has praised the government of Pakistan on successful

handling of coronavirus pandemic including its decision to reopen educational

institutions by mid of the month

b. Dr Hafeez Shaikh while addressing the UN meeting of Finance Ministers, said

that Pakistan has called for collective action to achieve sustainable economic

development in the wake of the global crisis triggered by COVID-19.

c. CanSino Phase 3 COVID-19 vaccine trial in Pakistan expected to begin this

month.

d. Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said that the provincial

government is providing training to teachers to ensure implementation of

SOPs in educational institutions.

e. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that the number of COVID-19 cases have

declined in the country and at least 12 million people have been provided

cash assistance of Rs 12,000 with the help of NADRA.
