No. 11/10 Denver beat Air Force 7-0 while Colorado College snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating Wisconsin 5-2. The NCHC is now 29-14-2 (.667) in non-conference games this year, best among all conferences with ECAC Hockey second over 100 percent- age points behind at .565. The NCHC last lost a non-conference game on Nov. 1 when No. 1 Minnesota beat St. Cloud State in overtime, with the NCHC going a combined 11-1-0 since Nov. 1. DU hosts the Badgers Saturday while CC is at Air Force. The NCHC is 10-2-0 against the Big Ten and 3-1-0 vs. Atlantic Hockey this season. In conference play, No. 8/8 Minnesota Duluth scored three third period goals to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat No. 13/13 Omaha, 3-2. The win was UMD’s sixth straight as they now own the longest active unbeaten streak in the NCAA. The loss by the Mavericks snapped their six-game unbeaten streak. It was the Bulldogs’ first win when trailing by two after two periods since Jan. 11, 2008 against Minnesota State. No. 7/7 Miami shut out Western Michigan, 1-0, Friday to remain in a first-place tie in the NCHC with UMD. Junior goaltender Jay Williams stopped all 23 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season (Nov. 7 vs. CC) and fourth of his career. His two whitewashes tie for the NCHC lead and tie for fifth nationally. He is the only goalie with two shutouts in conference play and has a 1.00 goals-against average, a .955 save per- centage and is 5-0-0 in NCHC action, all tops in the conference. His 1.51 GAA overall is fifth nationally. WMU has now been held scoreless three times this season (twice in conference play). No. 15/16 St. Cloud State junior forward Jonny Brodzinski scored two goals in the third period to lead the Huskies to a 3-1 win over No. 3/2 North Dakota. It was his 11th career multi-goal game and second this season, while the two tallies also gave him 50 career goals early on in his third season as a Husky. Brodzinski added an assist for a three-point night, his third three-point game of the season. North Dakota junior forward Drake Caggiula scored UND’s lone goal Friday, giving him 17 points on the season, which leads the NCHC by three. He is also tied for second nationally with his 17 points (7G, 10A). Denver sophomore goaltender Evan Cowley made 16 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and second of his career (Oct. 17 vs. RPI in season opener was his first). He is tied with Miami’s Williams for the NCHC lead with two shutouts. DU junior forward Quentin Shore recorded his first career hat trick in the win over Air Force. His hat trick was that of the natural variety, coming consecutively in the second period with a short-handed goal, an even strength goal and a power play marker. It was the first hat trick by a Pioneer since Nov. 3, 2012. DU has now outscored its opponent 15-1 in its last two games after defeating Colorado College, 8-1, last Friday.
