GeographyPart 1
• Brazil, with over 190 million people, is the largest country in South America
• It’s located along the eastern side coast of south America and encompasses a lot of the continents interior
• It has a coastline of over 7,491 kilometers and the total area is about 8,511,965 square kilometers
• Brazils climate comprises a wide range of weather conditions across a lot of land, but it’s 90% tropical

GeographyPart 2
• The Brazilian topography, like the climate, is very diverse. It includes hills, mountains, plains, highlands and scrublands
• Its natural resources include gold, iron ore, nickel, phosphates, uranium, and more
• It has a complex system of rivers, all of which drain into the Atlantic
• Brazils tropical soils produce 70 million tons of grain a year
• 66% of Brazil is forest, but deforestation, desertification and pollution are a few of its environmental issues

• Approximately 193 million people live in Brazil
• It’s about half white people, with the rest being east asian, black, a mixed race, amerindian, or something undetermined
• The median age of people living in Brazil is 27
• The rate of births to deaths is 16 to 6

• The main language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese
• You can become a brazilian citizen by living there for 15 years straight and being able to speak Portuguese
• 86% of the population can read
• The life expectancy is aproxemetaly 70 years, but on average women live eight years longer

CulturePart 1
• Brazilian culture is very diverse and mostly came from Portuguese culture
• Also very diverse is the cuisine
• The Feljoada is the countries national dish, dating back to the colonial period
• The oldest known of art in Brazil is cave paintings, which go back to 13,000 BC

CulturePart 2
• Cinema: The cinema has a long tradition in Brazil, dating back to the 19th century. Its highest grossing film brought 2 million viewers!
• Music: Brazils common instruments are guitar, piano and flute, with a rhythm done by a variety of drums. Lots of their songs tell stories
• Sports: Football (In American terms, soccer) is the most popular sport in Brazil, and some world famous players come from there. Also enjoyed is Volleyball, Basketball, racing, martial arts and gymnastics

• The person who discovered Brazil was a Spanish navigator, Vicente
Yáñez Pinzón, in 1500
• The first European person to discover it was Pedro Álvares Cabral, later in
1500 • It was captured by the Portuguese,
but became independent in 1822
• For a time it was run by military control, until in 1985, when it was left for civilians to control

• The first president of Brazil was General Deodoro da Fonseca
• A democracy started in 1945, after a revolt that occurred place in 1932
• Today, the biggest problem facing Brazil is a bad distribution of wealth
