If you are writing a non-fiction historical

account, then past tense is appropriate.

Your specific statement needs to read: "It wasbuilt in 1950."

Draft Your Recollections

Spend enough time on drafting your recollections about the details ofyour experience. Here is the time to create an outline of the basic partsof your narrative.

Scribble Down Random Sentences and Paragraphs

With the help of your outline, explain each part of your narrative. Ratherthan telling the audience dryly of what happened, try to recreate theexperience creating life into it. For this, it is important to think like the

audience because the information that you present is the only one thatthey have got.

Add some of the Small Details

Also, keep in mind that the minute details that might seem unimportantto you are not necessarily going to be unimportant to the readers. Thosedetails might spice up your personal narrative.

Revise Your Draft

After completing the first draft, read your narrative as to have an ideawhether the entire point has been clearly made and whether theexperience is recreated through the writing.

Leave Out the Unnecessary Details
