He dissolved the Holy Roman
Empire and lessened the power of
Austria’s king.
He brought Enlightenment ideals to
Germany.
Freed serfs, encouraged trade, and
abolished an#-Semi#c laws.
As people fought Napoleonic rule, a
sense of German na#onalism emerged.
