Team Nanmai is delighted to bring to you it’s

Annual newsletter. It is an honor for us to have

joined forces with you to serve our society’s

special people in every possible way we can.

This newsletter brings the details of our work

for the past year and our plans for the future.

Team Nanmai would like to wholeheartedly thank our donors, members, volunteers, well

wishers, fans everywhere and on the social networking websites and also our affiliated

organizations for their continuous support. We will strive harder and continue to support

more and more special people with your benevolent support.

Statement of Accounts / Expenditure Break-up (Apr 2011 - Mar 2012)

Following chart shows the Team Nanmai’s spend split-up during Apr 2011 – Mar 2012 in its

various activities helping people in need. 80% of those expenses was spent on educational

scholarships for deserving students identified through known contacts. Also, we understand

that everyone of us works very hard to earn their livelihood and we ensure that we do

adequate screening in identifying the right people for best use of your social funds.

Administration Cost: Team Nanmai is comprised of volunteers who put their time and

energy for the society without any strings attached. There is no administration cost involved

for our activities and all the funds provided by donors are utilized only for social activities.

“I am Arunkumar one of the beneficiaries of Nanmai. As a beneficiary I received Scholarship

and Engineering books for all the semesters from Nanmai. I attended 4 sessions of

Personality Development Program conducted by Nanmai which helps me to groom my soft

skills in the areas of spoken English, grammar, Group discussion, presentation & extempore.

Also, PDP sessions gave me a lot of interview tips, Do's and Don’ts and a lot of other

experiences from other Nanmai members which helped me get selected in TCS. I sincerely

thank Nanmai. Now, I have become one of the active members of Nanmai and handling entire

book bank activities apart from participating in other activities of Nanmai. I hope Nanmai

“My Gratitude towards Nanmai“

I successfully completed my schooling with the help of my school teachers. When I got a

merit seat in Government College of Engineering, Salem, I wondered how am I going to

complete it due to my financial background. During that time, the blackboard writings of

"Nanmai Trust is helping the poor students who are doing B.E. " in my residential area

introduced me as one of the beneficiary to our Nanmai Trust. They extended their hands by

providing me the books for each semester and also they helped me to manage my Hostel fee

by giving scholarships in time. Now I am working in TCS.

The efforts they have made in renovating the students life till now is unbeatable and I wish

these activities will benefit others too to attain success in-turn it will make Nanmai to be

successful. Thanks to Nanmai people.....

Educational Scholarship Program

Team Nanmai has provided scholarship to a total of 107

students from the various economically challenged

families. The supported students are from 14 schools,

13 arts & science colleges and from 18 engineering

colleges across Tamil Nadu

Swami Vivekananda Book Bank

Swami Vivekananda Book bank was launched in January 2006

to loan books to economically challenged students studying in

Engineering colleges. Students are identified through a well

defined process and it involves spreading only through the word

of the mouth. Students return the books at the end of the

semester so that the books can be reused for next semester for

other students. Books are mainly collected by means of book

collection drives during which generous people who had

completed their graduation donate their used books. For the

current semester, we have given books to 50 students and we

have more than 1000 Engineering books in inventory across

semesters and across majors.

We would like to sincerely thank Team Sneham, Infosys for conducting a grand book collection drive for our book bank in their Mahindra city premises.

Personality Development Program

Team Nanmai’s Personality Development Program

(PDP) was started to create self-awareness to the

students & to prepare them to face their future after

graduation. PDP classes focus on improving the

student’s communication, inter-personal and other

soft skills with topics such as

Children Home / Old Age Home Support

Team Nanmai has been providing continuous support to

the following two old age homes and a Children home

Brothers of Mine Old Age Home, Thirunindravur

Good Shepherd Old Age Home, Mangankadu, Attur

Atheeswarar Children Home, Mudichur

Brothers of Mine Old Age Home, Thirunindravur Mr. Prasanth is the founder of Brothers Of Mine at Thirunindravur where 20 elderly people

are taken care. Most of the inmates are suffering from various ailments and bed-ridden.

Team Nanmai has been continuously supporting Brothers of Mine old age home at

Thirunindravur for the past 3 years and bears responsibility for the monthly milk expenses.

Apart from the monthly milk expenses, Team Nanmai takes care of other important needs

like cot, emergency light, wheel chair, refrigerator for storing medicines and injections.

Good Shepherd Old Age Home, Attur Simon Arumugam started Good Shepherd Old Age home in

2005 in Attur which is home to around 11 elderly people.

These people do not have homes and were found by Simon

on the roads from various places. Earlier he used to

provide food to poor people on the roads everyday for

about 8 months till he started the home.

Team Nanmai has been continuously supporting Good Shepherd old age home since Jan

2012 and bears full responsibility for their monthly food expenses and Simon has been able

to provide quality food on all days. Earlier, the home was struggling to provide food for all

its elders. Team Nanmai has also provided 2 cots and also sweaters for the elders and will

continue to support them.

Atheeswarar Children Home, Mudichur

Mr. Srikanth, founder of Atheeswarar home is from

Udangudi near Tiruchendur. He lost his parents when he

was 5 years old and came to Chennai and came up in life

on his own facing all the challenges life posed against

him in his childhood. He started Atheeswarar home in

2003 at Mudichur (5 km from Tambaram) where 40

children are cared with food & shelter.

Team Nanmai bears responsibility for part of the grocery expenses required for this home

for the past one year. We celebrated Children's day in 2011 at this home during which we

conducted games, quiz, oratory competition and distributed gifts for the students. Team

Nanmai members prepared various food items from their homes for lunch & overall it was a

wonderful experience on the Children's day for kids and the members of Team Nanmai.

Sapling Planting

In an effort to make real and lasting changes in the

communities that will protect the environment for the

future generations and to create a culture of

environmental responsibility amongst us, we are

planting saplings in the Government schools in and

around Chennai. We explain the importance of trees

and environment to the students of those schools and

urge/motivate them to take care of the saplings

Thirumazhisai on 15 Aug 2011 to celebrate the Independence Day

Team Nanmai has planted 50 saplings at the Avadi Govt. School,

Thirumullaivayal on 2 Oct 2011 to mark the birth of Mahatma Gandhi

Nanmai conducted it's 8th Annual Blood Donation Camp at

Shakesphere Matriculation School, South Sivan Koil St, Vadapalani

on 11 Dec 2011. The camp had an overwhelming response with a

total of 503 willing donors, out of which 426 units of blood

successfully collected by the Govt. Children Hospital, Egmore and

Govt. Hospital, Royapettah. Nanmai was awarded by the Health

Ministry of Tamil Nadu with the following awards:

• Overall Highest Number of Donors in Single Camp - Medal

• Egmore Children Hospital Award - Certification & Memento

• General Hospital Chennai Award - Medal

Team Nanmai, for the third consecutive year has now created record for conducting the

largest blood donation camp in a single day camp for the government hospitals. Earlier, we

had 352 and 292 successful donors and in years 2010 and 2009 respectively.

Team Nanmai is specially indebted to all the donors and volunteers who participated in the

Annual Blood Donation camp and have made it as one of the most successful and eventful

blood donation camps in Chennai.
