JOURNEY OF FASHION – X PRISTINE MASQUERADE The college's 10th Graduation Fashion Show titled “Journey of Fashion - X: Pristine Masquerade” was organized by the 28 graduating designers of the 10 th batch (6th semester) organized at the Hotel Yak & Yeti on January 22 as a part of their course requirements of the subject “Fashion Show” under the Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) curriculum of Purbanchal University. DRESS DESIGNING FOR KID QUEEN NEPAL 2015 Students from the 12th batch and Namuna Institute of Technology (NIT) were the designers for contestants of "Kid Queen Nepal 2015" organized by Nepalese Fashion Home at the Nepal Academy Hall on October 09. Sanu Namaya, Kamal Manandhar and Shara Kayastha were adjudged the “Winner”, “1st Runner-Up” and “2nd Runner Up” respectively in the "Official Dress Design” contest of the event. The designers from the 12th batch were: Jyotsana Maharjan, Kamal Manandhar, Sanu Namaya, Seema Tamang, Sonam Poudel, Sunita Pathak and Sunu Rai. The designers from NIT were: Archana Shrestha, Asmita Dhakal, Madhu Sudan Bhattarai, Malusha Rana Magar, Rajani Shrestha, Samin Sedhai, Sangita Thapa, Shara Kayastha, Srijana Tamang, Sunita Shrestha, Tulsi Gurung and Yam Kumari Rana.     INDUSTRIAL VISITS

    Students of the 11th Batch (5th Semester) visited LogoFashion Industries, Bhaktapur on December 11 for anIndustrial Visit under the Fashion Merchandising course.

    Likewise, students of the 14th Batch (1st Semester) visitedBlack Fashion Industry, Bhaktapur on January 31 &February 01 for an Industrial Visit under the "GarmentTechnology - I" course.

    Likewise, students of the 13th batch (3rd semester) visitedMir Fashion Industry on March 30 for an Industrial Visitunder the “Garment Technology – II” course. The visitenhanced the practical knowledge of the students andadded to their classroom based theoretical knowledge asthey were able to observe firsthand the various machines,equipments, fabrics and processes under the courses.The visits were conducted by Rajendra Singh (Faculty &Advisory Board Member, NCFT) and Amit Kumar Jha(Faculty).

    GRADUATE’S DESIGNS ATASSAM COUTURE WEEK 2016

    Amitesh Karn (6th batch graduate & Proprietor, ZardoziBoutique) showcased his design collection at the Assam

    Couture Week 2016 held in Assam, India.

    CAREER CAMP 2016

    The college was among the educational institutions toparticipate in "Career Camp 2016" organized by EdushalaPvt Ltd in partnership with the U.S. Embassy at Dhulikhelfrom 29th February to 5th March 2016.

    Smita Maharjan & Tara Devi Thapa (graduating designersof the 10th batch) represented the college at the eventand they disseminated information about the college, itsBachelor of Fashion Design program and the careerprospects to the attendees.

    PROJECT WORK PRESENTATION

    The graduating designers of the 10th batch gave their finalproject presentation on March 11 & 13 as part of theircourse requirement of the subject “Project Work”. Thestudents were graded on their powerpoint presentationsand their individual project work report by an evaluationpanel consisting of Erene Shrestha (Fashion TechnologySubject Committee Member, Purbanchal University), PragyaChitrakar (Faculty), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal),Kushma Shrestha (Faculty), Rajbhai Suwal (Faculty),Rajendra Singh (Faculty), Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager),Rojin Shakya (Faculty) & Sapna Gurung (Faculty).

    PREJUDGMENT OFGRADUATION FASHION SHOW

    A Prejudgment event was held at the college on January18, 2016 as a precursor to the 10th Graduation FashionShow titled “The Journey of Fashion X – PristineMasquerade”.

    The 28 graduating designers displayed the swatch workof their individual designs of the “Creative Round” sequenceunder the theme “Inspired by Tourism of Nepal” andpresented on their respective design, the inspiration forit, the fabrics used etc. Each graduating designer wasgraded by the judges based on the description/theme,the accompanying swatch work and presentation.

    The panel of judges at the event consisted of:

    • Dr. Kul Bahadur Basnet (Vice Chairperson, Council forTechnical Education and Vocational Training & Chairperson,Fashion Technology Subject Committee of PurbanchalUniversity).

    • Ms. Anu Shrestha (Design Director, Mandala Silk Design& Advisory Board Member, Namuna College of FashionTechnology & Member, Fashion Technology SubjectCommittee of Purbanchal University).

    Manish Rai (student of our 12th batch) was one of thedesigners to showcase his collection at "The Show - SeasonII", with Mala Limbu (Model/Actor) as his showstopper.The event was organized by Mirror Group Pvt Ltd onDecember 25 at Atithi Resort and Spa, Pokhara.

    Yubaraj Thapa (graduating designer of 10th batch)showcased his design collection under his label "Yubi" atBlender's Pride Style Nite.

    CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION OFGRADUATION FASHION SHOW

    A certificate distribution program was held at the collegeon during which the 10th batch graduating designers,models, volunteers, event supporters and partners werehanded a certificate of appreciation by Gyani ShovaTuladhar (Founder Principal) for their invaluable contribution

    to the tremendous success of Journey of Fashion - X:Pristine Masquerade, the college’s 10th Graduation FashionShow.

    CAREER DEVELOPMENT PRACTICAL

    The viva and practical exam of the 10th batch students forthe subject “Career Development” took place at the ParkVillage Resort, Budhanilkantha on December 20. ShantaShrestha (Faculty, NCFT) graded each student on his/herviva performance and table manners/etiquette.

    DRESS DESIGN FOR MISSINDIGENEOUS HERITAGE NEPAL

    The college was the “Attire Partner” and students fromthe 11th batch (5th semester), 12th batch (4th semester)and 13th batch (3rd semester) were the designers forcontestants of "Miss Indigenous Heritage Nepal 2016"organized by Pacific Event & Management at the NepalAcademy Hall on March 26.

    Arzoo Shrestha (11th batch), Deena Gurung (12th batch)and Sanu Namaya (12th batch) were adjudged the “Winner”,“1st Runner-Up” and “2nd Runner Up” respectively in the"Official Dress Design” contest of the event.

    Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) was one of themembers of the Panel of Judges and Rojin Shakya (NCFTFaculty) was the Event Choreographer.

    The designers from the 13th batch were: Anjali Lama,Bhuma Thapa, Drasta Shakya, Nabina Rai, Nisha Adhikari,Pema Yangi Sherpa, Pramita Shrestha, Samrat Rai,Snehalata Achar ya and Toshmita Bhandar i .

    VISIT OF CONTESTANTS OF MISSINDIGENOUS HERITAGE NEPAL

    Contestants of "Miss Indigenous Heritage Nepal 2016"visited the college on March 14 as a part of their pre-eventactivities.

    During the visit, the contestants were briefed about thecollege and its Bachelor of Fashion Design program byJeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal). Likewise, RamitaMalla (NCFT Faculty) presented some fashion and dress-up tips to them.

    Mr. Tenjing Sherpa (Managing Director, Pacific Event andManagement) was also present during the visit.

    ORIENTATION PROGRAM

    The Orientation Program for students of the 14th batch(1st Semester) was held at the college on December 01.Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal) delivered aninspirational welcome speech to the students. Facultymembers of the college: Jyoti Bajracharya, KushmaShrestha, Pragya Chitrakar, Rajendra Singh and RamitaMalla introduced them to the courses they would beconducting. Tashi Dolma Sherpa (9th batch graduate)shared some of her college and professional experienceswith them. A presentation on Fashion Design and theFashion Industry was also delivered by Rajendra Singh(NCFT Faculty) and a closing speech was delivered byJeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal). The emcee forthe program was Tara Devi Thapa (10th batch student).Classes of the 1st semester formally commenced fromDecember 03.

    BOOK ON “GARMENT TECHNOLOGY –I”BY ADVISORY/FACULTY MEMBER

    Rajendra Singh (Advisory/Faculty Member) authored abook titled “Garment Technology – I”, most probably thefirst on the subject authored by a Nepalese. The bookcovers the syllabus of the “Garment Technology – I” courseunder the Bachelor of Fashion Design Program ofPurbanchal University. Likewise, he had earlier alreadypublished a book titled “Fashion Merchandising”.

    STUDENTS’ DESIGNS FORVALENTINE’S DAY

    The designs of Aleena Shrestha, Arzoo Shrestha, DikshyaUpadhya, Rabina Karki, Sarila Maharjan and Sushila Karki(11th batch students) for Valentine’s Day were publishedin Kantipur Saptahik and Glamournepal.com.

    PARTICIPATIONS INNEPAL FASHION WEEK

    Manish Rai (12th batch student), Rojina Maharjan (8th

    batch graduate) & Yubaraj Thapa (10th batch graduatingdesigner) showcased their collections at the Nepal FashionWeek organized by APCA Events at the Hyatt Regency fromMarch 30 to April 02.

    STUDENTS VISIT D – STUDIO

    Students of the 11th batch (5th semester) visited D – Studioon March 30 as a part of their “Fashion Photography”class. The visit strengthened the practical knowledge ofthe students on the course as they learnt about the variouspractical aspects of the course such as lenses, lighting,poses etc. The visit was facilitated by Rajbhai Suwal (NCFTFaculty, Senior Commercial Photographer and Proprietor,D – Studio).

    WELCOME AND FAREWELL PROGRAM

    A Welcome and Farewell Program was jointly organizedby the students of the 11th batch (5th semester), 12th batch(4th semester) and 13th batch (3rd semester) for studentsof the 14th batch (1st semester) and graduating designersof the 10th batch (6th semester) at the Moods StudioLounge on February 26.

    Students of the 11th batch, Omika Chhetri, Bandana KC,China Kumari Thapa, Anandi Bhushal, Nabina Karki, AleenaShrestha performed a group dance, and Chummi DolmaSherpa and Nabina Karki performed as a duo.

    Students of the 12th batch, Deena Gurung, Deepa Bhandariand Kumari performed a group dance, and Sreejana RatnaNepali and Nabin Shrestha performed as a duo. Solodance performances were given by Phungoti Nembangand Sreejana Ratna Nepali. Sashita Thapa Magar andSeema Tamang sang a song. Students of the 13th batch,Sadhana Ranabhat, Sanju Tamang and Kabita Maharjanperformed a group dance. Ojaswi Shrestha sang a song

    The program also had an introduction round for studentsof the 14th batch and distribution of token of love to thegraduating designers. Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (VicePrincipal), Arzoo Shrestha (11th batch) and Karma YangzeenLama (Graduating designer of the 10th batch) also shareda few words during the program.

    Students of the 14th batch, Utkrist Khadka and KarishmaLama received the “Best Dress – Male” and “Best Dress– Female” awards while Pramin Shakya and Jecy BhaktaTamang received the “Best Personality – Male” and “BestPersonality – Female” awards.

    The emcees for the program were: Rajendra Rai, TashiDolma Gurung (12th batch students) and Nasana Tuladharand Snehalata Acharya (13 th batch students).

  • JOURNEY OF FASHION – XPRISTINE MASQUERADE

    The college's 10th Graduation Fashion Showtitled “Journey of Fashion - X: PristineMasquerade” was organized by the 28graduating designers of the 10th batch (6thsemester) organized at the Hotel Yak & Yetion January 22 as a part of their courserequirements of the subject “Fashion Show”under the Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD)curriculum of Purbanchal University.

    The audience was captivated by theextraordinary creativity on show as thedesigners wowed them with stunningdesigns under 3 sequences:

    1. PASHMINA

    The sequence aimed to bring out variousbest wearable garments out of pashminathrough variation and design value additionresulting in draped elegant designscorrelating with red carpet feature. NepalPashmina Industries Association (NPIA)supported the sequence.

    2. PREVALING THE 2016 TREND

    The sequence portrayed calf length dressesrepresenting the trend of 2016 by combiningdifferent floral prints and colors that werethe main highlight of the sequence.

    3. INSPIRED BY TOURISMOF NEPAL (Creative Round)

    The sequence offered 28 creative andinspiring designs made by the graduatingstudents focusing on promotion of tourismthrough the theme “Inspired by Tourism ofNepal”. Each and every design had amessage behind its aesthetics and

    composition and the designers’ individualcreations were graded by the panel ofjudges. The grades given at the show willbe combined with the grades that eachdesigner received during the Prejudgmentevent held earlier at the college to determinetheir overall grades of the subject “FashionShow.”

    It is also worth noting that in addition todesigning their own collection for the event,the overall planning, fund generation,logistics management and execution of theevent was done by the graduating designersthemselves.

    Among the distinguished guests present atthe event were Purbanchal Universityofficials: Prof. Dr. Ghanshyam Lal Das (ViceChancellor), Dr. Niroj Pandey (Registrar),Prof. Dr. Khagendra Acharya (Dean ofManagement Faculty), Dr. Neeraj Kumar

    Mishra (Deputy Control ler, ExamManagement Officer) and Pramila Thapa(Acting Dean, Faculty of Medicine).

    Jyoti Bajracharya (7th batch graduate),Pragya Chitrakar (8th batch graduate) andSangeeta Thapa (9th batch graduate) werehonored with a Letter of Appreciation bythe college during the show for beingbestowed with the prestigious “NepalChhaatraa Vidhya Padak” by securing thehighest grades among all female graduatesof their respective batch under theManagement faculty of PurbanchalUniversity.
