Minimum Age 13 years
This Topic has 3 learning aims:
Understand how to prepare to learn in the workplace.
Be able to carry out activities in the workplace
Be able to identify what has been learnt from the workplace
experience
This unit contributes to your chosen

Passport 4 Independence
The Passport 4 Independence, P4I, is a learning experience for young
people. P4I consists of a series of Visas addressing the knowledge, skills,
behaviours and attitudes that lead to living a successful and independent
life. You do not have to achieve all Visas only those that will be helpful.
Some topics appear in more than one Visa!
Before you start this topic you will have completed the ‘My Visa Action
Plan’ and will have identified that the ‘Learning Through Work
Experience’ topic would be helpful to enable you to move forward
towards independence. This topic may be one of a number that you
have identified and each topic has its own assessment workbook.
You will work with your tutor/assessor, either on a one-to-one basis or in
a group, to increase your knowledge and skills around ‘Learning Through
Work Experience’. You will record your learning time on page 4 and
evidence your learning against the specific criteria by completing the
assessments throughout the workbook.
You should make sure that you let your tutor/assessor know if you need
some help with getting your answers down.
You may also be planning to cover
other topics, either alongside each
other, or one at a time. When you
have completed your chosen topics
you should revisit your ’Action Plan’ to
review your plan and scale your new
knowledge and skills.
Watch your confidence in your
abilities grow and grow!!

Appeals and Complaints
Procedure for Learners
Learners who wish to appeal against or complain about any result must first go
through the SCC CYP Engagement Hub Appeals / Complaints Procedure. Gateway
Qualifications will only process an appeal once this procedure has been exhausted.
In the event of a dispute between the course tutor/assessor and a candidate
concerning the results of assessments, every attempt will be made to sort out the
dispute between the trainer and the candidate in the first instance.
The tutor will give the candidate a full explanation of the reasons for the decision and
advise the candidate of how they can meet the performance criteria.
If the candidate is still not satisfied the tutor should inform the Quality Assurance
Officer. The Quality Assurance Officer should meet with the candidate and the tutor
to try to resolve the situation. The outcome of this meeting should be recorded.
If there is still no satisfactory outcome, the Quality Assurance Officer will advise the
Gateway Qualifications External Quality Assurer who investigate further.
Timescales can be found in the full policy which is available on request.
It is the responsibility of the Quality Officer to keep a record of all appeals.
