2.1A Reading activity: Computerspiele

Lesen Sie den Text. (Read the text, look up any words you don’t know and write the English above the word)

Viele Eltern sagen: Computerspiele sind schlecht. „Sitz doch nicht immer vor dem Computer - geh doch mal nach

draußen zum Spielen!!“ Wer so einen Spruch täglich von ihnen zu hören bekommt, hat jetzt eine gute Antwort:

Computerspiele sind nämlich genauso gut wie andere Spiele auch.

Und: Wissenschaftler haben jetzt herausgefunden, dass manche Computerspiele sogar schlau machen können.

Computer-Spieler lernen zum Beispiel bei jedem Spiel, dass man sich an Regeln halten muss, so wie Fußball-Spieler.

Am besten sind Spiele, in denen es um logisches Denken geht. Gut ist auch, wenn man zusammen mit Freunden

spielt. Dann kann man nämlich über schwierige Fragen reden und gemeinsam eine Lösung finden. Das macht nicht

nur mehr Spaß, sondern man lernt auch mehr.

Die Experten warnen sogar davor, Kindern das Spielen am Computer zu verbieten. Eltern sollten sich lieber mal

zusammen mit den Kindern davor setzen. Dann verstehen sie vielleicht besser, warum das Spiel den Kindern so

wichtig ist. Na los – ab an den Computer zur Spiele-Runde, liebe Eltern!

Saskia

Ich benutze das Internet gern – ich schaue ziemlich oft Musikvideos auf YouTube

an, und ich höre Musik auf Spotify. Das ist total praktisch und bequem. Auf

sozialen Netzwerken bin ich auch dabei – auf Facebook. Ich habe über 600

Freunde, und es ist immer interessant, da reinzuschauen – das mache ich oft

sogar jede Stunde! Ich benutze auch immer Google, wenn ich Informationen

brauche. Das ist super, weil das so schnell geht.

A level German Bridging Work – Independent study (also part of Summer work)

It is great that you have chosen German to study at A level and look forward to working with you from

September onwards. You have a few weeks in which you can really start preparing for the challenges of next

year so we will be setting you some tasks over the next few weeks but we also wanted to share with you

some ideas for you to complete independently as language learning is about doing something on a regular

basis, not forgetting everything and enjoying using German. Keep a log of all the things you have done using

the independent learning log and you can share this in September.

Here are some possibilities. Try to use German in as many different ways as possible, i.e texts, listening,

films, websites, speaking etc:

➢ One enjoyable way is to watch a German film (or films) – YouTube should be a good start. ‘Lola rennt’ is a good one, ‘Good bye Lenin’ or ‘Das Leben der Anderen’ you will study in class, or look at the film list of AQA and choose a film from their choice;

➢ Look at the websites listed below and have a dip into some of them, get to know them and how they work so that you know what could be useful in future;

➢ Look at the vocabulary on opinions – which ones do you already know (quite a few, I imagine) and which ones could be useful. Try to memorise new ones to have a head start in September;

➢ Look into some newspapers or magazines and read some (short) paragraphs and try to get the meaning of them (note any vocab you looked up in a little booklet);

➢ Try to speak some German if you can, either to somebody else (most enjoyable), or to yourself (less enjoyable perhaps but still better than nothing);

➢ Revise vocab if you can, keep the GCSE vocab up to date, and have a look at the vocab attached for the first two topics we will be covering in September.
