Dear Parents and Carers,

NAIDOC Celebrations What a wonderful way to start our week and our NAIDOC Celebrations. A huge thank you to Corey Paulson for his speech and digeridoo playing.

On Wednesday, we hope that our families and community can join us to celebrate the theme- “Voice, Treaty, Truth”. Please check out the posters around the school, which have history and stories of indigenous people.

There will be morning tea in the kitchen and a BBQ for all who attend. There will be drinks on sale in the canteen. Please come and join us for this wonderful celebration. On Friday afternoon, we will be holding our NAIDOC Assembly hosted by the Junior AECG at 2.15pm in Kester Hall.

School Photos. These will be occurring TOMORROW. Can all students wear their winter uniform and remember to bring in your envelope.

Choral Festival I felt very proud watching both our Junior and Senior choirs performing at the Choral Festival. They sounded wonderful and were well presented. Thank you to all the teachers and students for the opportunity to celebrate Education Week in song.

Broken Hill Athletics Carnival Thank you to staff, students and parents who endured the bitter cold on Thursday and Friday to represent Alma at the athletics carnival. Well done to everyone. Thanking You Sharon DeGoumois Principal

NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony

A Flag Raising Ceremony was held this morning to celebrate NAIDOC week. Parents are welcome to come and join their children on Wednesday during NAIDOC activities.

The new, improved Alma Phone App has arrived. Instruction for downloading are: Apple Devices: Apple devices only need to update our App in the Apple iTunes Store to get the new and improved App. Android Devices: Android users will need to delete the old Alma App from the device Download the new App from Google Play store called Alma Public School App. Don’t forget to add the word ‘App’ on the end of our name. The Alma Public School App will allow you to instantly access our newsletters, receive excursion updates, upcoming events, important messages, canteen/uniform price lists, send in student absence notes, plus more!

SRC Mufti Day raised $126.00 at the time of print today! Stage 3 Excursion Stage 3 excursion to Melbourne/Ballarat commences Monday 19th August. Full payment due: Wednesday 14th August. Medication for excursion: All medication required (not already held at office i.e. Ventolin) should be dropped at office by Friday 16th August.

Book Week Parade Thursday 5th September Start getting your costumes ready! The Book Week Parade is on Thursday 5th September. The theme is ‘Reading is my Super Power’. The parade will commence at 12.45pm under the COLA. Parents are welcome to stay and have lunch with their children.

NAIDOC Celebrations Wednesday 14th August

Alma will celebrate NAIDOC Day on Wednesday 14th August. This Wednesday, students are asked to come to school dressed in NAIDOC

colours (red, black, and yellow) or Indigenous prints for a day filled with NAIDOC fun activities and educational workshops for everyone to enjoy.

Come along and share this wonderful day of celebration with your children as they rotate in groups through each activity

Join our tradition and wear red, yellow and black or NAIDOC prints

A free sausage sizzle will be provided for lunch

A continuous morning tea will be held throughout the day

Food and drinks will be available from the school canteen

Don’t forget to try the amazing Johnny Cakes!

NAIDOC Assembly will be held Friday 16th August at 2.15pm in Kester Hall.

Welcome back to the library for Term 3! Library Opening Times

The library is open every day at first break for lunchtime play and students enjoy participating in a range of

activities during this time.

Library Monitors

A big thank you to the library monitors who work hard doing a range of jobs for the library. I am looking forward

to another great term in the library.

Book Week Parade

This term we celebrate Book Week and have our annual P-6 Book Week Parade!

I’ve heard about lots of wonderful costumes from both students and staff. On this day students can dress up as

their favourite character from any book. Families are invited to stay and have lunch with their children after the

parade.

Further details will be sent out closer to the date.

There will a range of fun activities leading up to the event and colouring-in competitions for students to enter. The

winners will be announced after the parade.

Education Ball Raises Funds for Stewart House! The Education Ball was held at the Musician’s Club on Saturday night.

A total of $19,500 was raised for Stewart House from auctions and raffles, along with a generous donation of $5,000 from the Musician’s Club.
