A look at our history.1834 Glassmaker michael nachtmann founds the company

F.x. nachtmann. initially, the company manufactures its

products at its unterhütte site near herzogau in the

Bavarian Forest, Ödhütte near Furth im Wald and

seebachhütte near eisenstein, in Bavaria.

1900 zacharias Frank takes over the company and moves the

headquarters to neustadt an der Waldnaab, the

present company headquarters.

1945 nachtmann rebuilds the partially-destroyed production

facilities and restarts lead crystal production in

neustadt and riedlhütte.

1983 the foundations are laid for the third, state-of-the-art

lead crystal facility in Weiden.

1990 nachtmann Group acquires the tradition-steeped

spiegelau crystal glass factory.

1995 F.x. nachtmann Crystal AG takes over rosenthal AG‘s

shares in the Amberg crystal glass factory and has held

a capital share of almost 90 % since July 1997.

2001 Certification as a company with mechanisms in place to

provide comprehensive environmental protection

(as per Din iso 14001).

2004 on september 17th, riedel takes over 100% of the

shares of the nachtmann Crystal AG.

history in which the successful development of our lead crystal

factories became symbol for the stability of a company that has

expanded through organic growth.

We strive to act with as much foresight as possible, without

forgetting the ancient glassmaking tradition or the changing

times. All managerial and creative processes are influenced by

the inner desire of each individual employee to offer pleasure

What we are today.

the nachtmann plant in Weiden, europe‘s most modern glass

factory, uses primarily electrical energy. it is regarded as the

most environmentally friendly method of our day. We are

especially pleased that nachtmann was certified in accordance

with Din iso 14001 in 2010, and thus recognized for its

commitment to the establishment and introduction of an

environmental management.

Genau genommen war BossA noVA ursprünglich gar

kein tanz, sondern eine Bewegung. im sehr modernen

gesellschaftlichen Klima Brasiliens der 50er Jahre fand

die „neue Welle“ bis ende der 60er Jahre ihren höhepunkt.

Künstler experimentierten mit neuen Ausdrucksformen in

born in the highly modern social climate of the 1950‘s

and crested in the 1960‘s. during this time of artistic

nach dem erfolgreichen Designprojekt mit der Parsons school for Design

in 2007 hat nachtmann seine Beziehungen zu weltweit bekannten Design-

schulen ausgebaut und in 2010 einen neuen Designwettbewerb mit dem

Pratt institut in new york unter der Projektleitung von Produkt-designerin

stefanie Kubanek initiiert.

Alvaro uribe – ein Designstudent des Pratt institutes in new york – hat er-

folgreich an diesem Designwettbewerb teilgenommen und eine neue serie

für nachtmann designed – PetAls. Das Dekor PetAls erinnert, wie auch

der name schon sagt, an übereinander liegende Blütenblätter, wodurch ein

modernes und außergewöhnliches Design geschaffen wurde. Das zusam-

menspiel des Designs und dem material mit seiner brillanten lichtbrechung

verwandelt jeden tisch in eine Festtafel und gibt jedem raum ein stilvolles

After a successful design project with Parsons school for design in 2007,

nachtmann continues to expand on their relationship with widely-known and

respected design schools. these collaborations with design communities

will only further nachtmann’s goal of continuing to create modern classics in

crystal. In 2010, nachtmann initiated a design competition with new york’s

PRAtt Institute lead by product designer stefanie kubanek. Pratt Institute is

one of the most renowned institutes for architecture and design in the us.

the Pratt design-student Alvaro uribe – a successful and emerging designer,

succeeded in this competition and created a new line for nachtmann – PetAls.

the pattern of the lead crystal vase looks like tender petals, and the sequence

of the petals creates a modern and extraordinary design. the poetry of both

its pattern and material with its brilliant light refraction will bring a delicate

touch to each table and ambience.

nach dem erfolgreichen Designprojekt mit der Parsons

york unter der Projektleitung von Produktdesignerin stefanie

Der entwurf QuArtz von der Designstudentin Catherine

merrick wurde in diesem Wettbewerb ausgezeichnet. Quarz-

sand ist einer der wesentlichen rohstoffe bei der herstellung

von Bleikristallglas. Die funkelnden oberflächen des rohstoffes

in seiner kristallinen struktur waren die inspiration für Catherine

merrick bei der Gestaltung. Durch das außergewöhnliche

Dekor der schale kann sich das licht im Bleikristall brechen und

zaubert dadurch magische effekte in jedes Ambiente.

Walter Gropius (1883-1969), der Begründer des
