N. S. S Report

2015-16

"Not for me, but for you "

For a strong country - organised energy.

As swami Vivekananda put it, "see the

prosperity of the country among the youth " a

small attempt to train such young people

physically and intellectually has been carried

out under the N. S. S unit of our college.

With over three thousand students in college,

we are responsible for selecting and training

the N. S. S unit with two hundred volunteers. Dr.

Satish Naik, assistant professor of political

science department and Prof. Dattatreya Hegde,

assistant professor, department of

mathematics was entrusted to the Principal

prof. G. T Hegde

Ravikumar kyasnur, Vani Bhat, Nandish

Gouda,Prajna P. Naik, Rakesh K. T and

Anuradha Hegde had been selected as leaders

of the National Service scheme unit 1 and unit-

2 on the basis of their service excellence during

the last two years.

Every year N. S. S planners were given the

opportunity to participate in the N. S. S

activities that began each year through the

Sabha program. Saving greenary and promoting

and planting. Based on the students

cooperation and instructions of principal, the

nation service team has organized the campus

cleanliness, World population day,

Environmental Day, Independence Day, Gandhi

jayanthi, Kannada Rajyotsava ,Kanakadasa

jayanthi, Ambedkar jayanthi, World's AIDS day,

International women's day.

On 12/12/2015 our N. S. S team held a people

awareness jatha in sirsi as part of world AIDS

day. Dr. Satish Naik, our N. S. S unit -1 planner,

was also in charge of the National Youth

Sapthaha from 11/12016-19/01/2016. The N. S.

S team celebrated Swami Vivekananda's 153rd

yuva sapthaha program as a model and

inspiration for the youth. As the result 1500

students participated in the awareness jatha

then DYSP sri Prasanna Desai raised the issue of

"crime and drug abuse" among the people.

This year's N. S. S annual special camp was held

from 5/3/2016 to 11/3/2016 at Divekar from

Hussari. The programme was inaugurated by

Mrs. Usha Hegde, member of district panchayat

Uttara Kannada ,sri Narayan K. Naik and other

guests. In charge of the program were Dr.

Satish Naik and prof. Dattatreya Hegde N. S. S

planners unit 1 and unit -2.

Every morning flag hoisting, yoga, shramadana,

lecture and cultural programs were held for

seven consecutive days.

We must commemmorate the folklore of the

locals and dignitaries in the village of the

Hussari ,mainly the historical monuments of the

Kadamba period.

Janajagruthi jatha and street drama have

gained popularity. Cultural program were held

at Hussari every evening. Students gave

performance of the award winning drama and

skit at state and national level. Seven days of

cooking was prepared by the all the N. S. S

volunteers.

Mr. Bhimanna Naik, who was the chief guest at

the Closing Ceremony of the camp, was pleased

with the functioning of the camp. On the back

of the camp, our N. S. S team distributed juice

to the tired people in the well known Sri

Marikamba fair. It was chaired by Dr. Satish

Naik, planning officer, N. S. S unit -1. And for

seven days 100 volunteers, volunteering with

the police department as jatra police

volunteers were memorable here.
