Q2. Read the following passage carefully. 12 marks Education

is the beginning of empowerment. It is the key to happy and satisfaction life for the

special children, who are segregated from society. In India , there are around 35 million

disabled children but less than one percent have access to education. Special children are

those who are physically or mentally challenged. The discrimination between normal and

special children leads to severe psychological disorders, giving birth to frustration which

is not healthy for progressive nation. Several NGOs are working towards the upliftment

and betterment of such children but the main problem is lack of motivation by society.

The facilities or opportunities available in schools can remove the obstacles that come in

the path of educating special children. The government has started the ‘Integrated

System Of Education’ that enables the disabled to study with normal children in normal

circumstances with facilities available for them. Special schools have also been

established by the government and NGOs to meet the specific needs of such children but

their number is pitiable less as compared to the normal schools.
