When should I use it with my students?
• In taught modules: MyFolio lends itself particularly to two types of modules. Modules which focus on students’ academic skills development or modules which give students work experience or a placement
• In Academic Adviser sessions: MyFolio can be used to prompt students to record their development for their annual academic advice session
Can students use it independently?• MyFolio can be used by students independently of staff
for example students may set-up study groups via MyFolio or journals for themselves to record their development
Why would I use MyFolio rather than Moodle for a taught module?
Moodle functions best when it is used to broadcast information to students, but MyFolio is better when you want students to tell you things. For example they can set up and share with you regular journal entries; they can attach audio visual or multimedia evidence.
Why would my students use MyFolio? Students are currently using MyFolio in many different ways. Feedback from them confirms that they find it a useful way to record the variety of their experiences
What support is available to me to use MyFolio?
• MyFolio Community of Practice Group• Academic Advisers Group• MyFolio Users group• Advice from the Faculty Learning Technologists
