Plan: Smells: Vermin Dirt Rotten food Hear: Squeaks Scratches on the wood Feel: Cold The wood under me
Cold rats They are coming I can hear them; I can smell them really well. They smell like dirt, rotten food and vermin. They were getting closer and closer I could hear their little feet on the floor scratching at the wood, their high pitched squeaks getting louder and louder, it sends shivers down my spin. Suddenly I let out a ear splitting scream they had reached my cold, pale, shaking feet and going up my little legs. HELP ME!
Apollo 11
It was the 16th of July 1969 8:32 am (EST) and I am with my moon buddy, Buzz getting
ready to go up into space in our spaceship, the eagle.
I remember the staff calling my name over the speaker while I Hurried to say
goodbye to my family and friends. I met up with buzz and walked into mission
control, were we said our quick goodbyes and then headed to the space ship to
start our historic take off.
We did our checklist before radioing in to MC that we were ready to rock and roll.
The nerves kept building up inside me as we got closer and closer to take off,
praying that we got it right. So many things were flying through my mind; what if we
get it wrong? What if we get stuck up on the lunar surface? I could now here the
engine rumbling loud and clear. It was time. As we started to take off I had a funny
feeling, it was so amazing, like something I could not describe. We had to be very
alert for the 24 hours to make sure everything was going alright and then make it
through the next 4 days.
The trip was amazing and scary at the same time. We had a smooth landing on the
lunar surface (the moon) and were so excited to be the first people in the world to
on the lunar surface. We suited up and got ready to walk down the ladder onto the
moon. I grabbed the most important flag and gestured for Buzz to go first but he
insisted that I went first. I put the air lock on and opened the door. So this was it I Neil
Armstrong was going to be the first man on the moon. I hesitantly got hold of the
ladder in my sweaty palm and carefully manoeuvred myself down the ladder. Got
to the last step and called Buzz down when his foot was nearly in my face he turned
around and watched me step on the moon. I was counting down in my head, 3, 2,
1step! I put my foot down on the lunar surface. “One small step for man, one giant
leap for man kind.” I said proudly. It was so amazing it took a few bounces away
from the ladder and watched Buzz come down the ladder he too bounced around,
amazed by the lack of gravity. We walked around for awhile before MC told us to
quick mucking around and get samples and swabs of what I thought to be
everything there. After we were done I was starting to get tired when I remembered
something; my golf club and ball. I raced up the ladder and closed myself in before
unlocking the airlock and getting what I needed before heading back down and
hitting the ball. Buzz sat and watched as the ball went for miles and miles.
It was a big day and we had accomplished so much but we were both very tried
and went to bed really early. It was good to be home
To mum and dad I hope that you have
enjoyed the selected pieces of writing
that I wrote this year. Love Zoe
