We would really like you to write us a letter. You could write it on the next

This will really help us to get to know a little bit more about you.

In your letter you could include the following things:

Please do your best to try to learn these facts. Maths is much easier if you can recall these facts instantly with-

out having to calculate them. See if you can learn them so well that if someone asked you a fact at random, you

would be able to respond as quickly as if they had asked you your name. Maybe repeat a couple of facts to your-

self before going to sleep and test yourself in the morning. You will notice that the further you work through

your times tables, the fewer facts there appear to be. That is because you already know them e.g. you don’t see

7 X 6 because it gives the same answer as 6 X 7!

Take your time learning these facts so that you don’t overload your memory. Even when you think you’ve learnt

them, ask your family to keep testing you so that they become embedded in your long term memory. Once they

go from your short term memory to your long term memory, you will have these facts at your fingertips for life.
