Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher in Electronics engineering field, my aim is to develop professional engineers possessing :

1.Fundamental knowledge of Electronics Engineering.

2.Ethical attitude. 3.Effective communication skills.

4.Respect for environment.   To effectively choose teaching methodologies .   Need to have strong problem solving skills and a practical

approach .   Remain update with the knowledge of changing technology .

Teaching Philosophy

Course Title : Electrical Machines Level : Second year

Planning the course to identify: ü  Core concepts ü  Topics important for examination ü  Topic that students can study on their own

Course description document to help students with following information: ü  Recommended Books ü  Grading Criteria ü  Office hours ü  Setting Ground rules

Teaching Plan ü  Lecture and practical planning according to the term calender

Think- pair -share

Question asked : ü What are the different methods to control the speed of DC

motor.

Implementation: (21 mins) ü List down what are the different methods to control the speed

of a DC motor( 5 mins) ü Pair-up (1 mins) ü Then I randomly call out the roll nos and he/she has to explain

any one method from the list to the entire class ( 15 mins)   Reflection:

ü  Majority of the class could contribute to the activity ü Some students could not speak openly and express themselves

Concept test   Question asked : Why are starters required in DC motor ?

1.  To start the DC motor. 2.  To limit the high current drawn by the armature at the start. 3.  To allow the high current drawn by the armature at the start.

Implementation: (Total time:10 mins) ü  Asked for the response.

•  30% for option 1 , •  50% for option 2 ( the correct ans) •  20% for option 3.

ü  Response after discussion •  This time I found maximum vote for option 2

ü  I then randomly called some roll nos and asked them to explain the reason for their choice .

Reflection : ü  Students participated to arrive at a common response. ü  This activity worked as a wake up activity . ü  During discussion there was lot of chaos in class.

Collaborative learning project/activity

l  Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD)

18/06/15

Lesson : DC machine Activity : STAD   Dividing the class into groups

ü  I divided the class into group of 4 ü  Division made based on previous class test marks.

Activity assigned was to find videos which would give them insight knowledge for construction , working principle and different methods to control the speed of DC motor.

Quiz on the material (10Marks)   Quiz Score   Reflection :

ü  I had to re-group the class because some students remain absent for the activity.

ü  Some students did't take the activity seriously.

Implementation :

Technology incorporated l  Enables us to use different teaching tool . l Use of animated Videos l  Use of ppt l  Student Attendance Management system(SAMS)

ü To record attendance ü To record test marks ü To store and update teaching plan and course objective ü To monitor planed and delivered lectures ü Online feedback

l  Use of Google services like Google drive and Google docs.

"Re- structuring the Format of Mandatory Mid-term Assignment for Enhanced Learning and Time Efficiency"

Assignment plays an important role in sharpening the student’s mind and develop their knowledge

Purpose of giving assignment to students ?   Makes the assessment unfair   Assignment small Class test( targeting time

management).   Methodology   Helped to improve the result from 57.32% to 78.21%
