Boxtop 22 • this Herc crashed with 18 on board in 1991 at Alert in darkness and extreme cold (-40 to -60)

• 5 died, including the pilot, a RCAF officer, who felt guilty and gave away his parka to an injured person and subsequently froze to death. He left a wife and 2 kids.

• the Arctic can be a very unforgiving place
