Animoto Animoto is a video sharing site that allows you to create and

share videos all from within one convenient website.

I have used Animoto to show off my knowledge of things such as virtual teams and of other social media tools such as Photobucket.

Animoto makes it fun and easy to create videos for any occasion.

Animoto Animoto has helped me to develop teamwork skills by

working on video projects together as well as to showcase my skills by working alone.

Through Animoto I have displayed that I work well individually or as a part of a team.

Delicious allows you to share stories and save favourite news articles for others to find.

I have used Delicious to find stories saved by others and read about business news and other current events.

It helps me to keep track of various types of news, be it business news or entertainment news.

On the previous slide is a snapshot that shows just a few of the articles I recently saved to Delicious.

I save articles that are beneficial for research later on.

It helps to prove that I am reliable and organized; if I need to find something, I know how to find it!

Facebook Facebook is another useful social media tool that helps me

to keep in touch with family and friends, as well as to meet new friends.

I use Facebook and the many apps within it to post and share photos, read news stories, and play games.

My profile proves that I am a fun-loving child at heart, but when needed I work hard at the task at hand and set goals for myself.

LinkedIn LinkedIn is a business related social media site where you

can connect with colleagues and classmates among others to help create a stronger presence in the business world.

I use LinkedIn to connect with other business professionals, including classmates, professors, and colleagues. It highlights the skills and information that are also highlighted on my resume.

LinkedIn allows users to post on online resume that benefits both those who post and prospective employers. It is efficient and saves time for both prospective employees and employers.

If a prospective employer likes what they see on a prospective employee’s profile, they can easily be in contact through the social media site.

Twitter Twitter is a micro blogging site that allows people to connect with

friends and celebrities among other people to see what others are doing and to post general messages.

Messages are short and to the point and allow the reader to find out what they need to know quickly.

I use Twitter to read what others are doing and in the case of celebrities and other famous people, hear inspiring messages and stories, or simply just entertainment news (depending on the person sending the tweets).

Twitter allows people to showcase their communication skills. Though limited to only 140 characters it still showcases one’s ability to communicate quickly and effectively.

So, How Does Social Media Affect Me? I use social media everyday. It is everywhere, no one can say that

they are not affected by social media in one way or another.

Previously, I mentioned just a few of the social media tools I use, but there are many more out there, and there are more tools created all the time.

Social Media is EVERYWHERE!

Social Media Influences: Education – more and more students contact each other

and their professors through social media, be it to get help with something or ask questions about their program of study. These days it is quite common to see Facebook groups and blogs dedicated to such causes.

The workforce – more and more business professionals are using social media to look at potential employees or to keep in contact with existing employees. LinkedIn is most commonly used for this purpose.

Day to day life – Just about anyone can use social media, and those that do tend to follow their favourite celebrities on Twitter or “like” their favourite products on Facebook.
