My name is António Salazar Antunes, I’m 27 and currently finishing my Master Degree in Graphic Design, through Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco at Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas. The following Portfolio is the result of my work as a communication designer, both in school and outside of it. Apart from that I’ve also developed some work in the fields of 3d, Illustration and Audio-visual, all of them I believe can make a significant contribute to my experience as a professional designer.

concept specsThis project’s aim was to concieve a whole new graphic mark for Gradiva Bookstore. This company is known for promoting books somehow connected to science or investigation. Thus, I came up with a logo based on atoms, which generate images connected with the different subjects: politics, mathematics, fiction, philosophy and investigation.

El diseño de un signo tipo-icono-gráfico de Identidad Visual Corpo-rativa —IVC— supone el proceso de clarificar los objetivos comuni-cativos y de organizar el conteni-do en función de dichos objetivos. La disciplina del diseño gráfico es responsable, en este contexto, de construir un imaginario referencial que permita la identificación de la Corporación. Es, asimismo, un instrumento comunicador, gene-rador de identidad y configurador del panorama gráfico de nuestro entorno visual, en el que su funci-ón principal es la comunicación —poner en común— por medio de la combinación de textos verbales y textos visuales. En este panorama gráfico, la necesidad estratégica de diferenciación y competencia de nuestra sociedad industrial recur-re a los signos tipo-icono-gráficos de Identidad Visual Corporativa —logotipos, imagotipos, etc.— como mediadores de un discurso que intenta comunicar los valores propios de la Corporación: valores sociales, valores asociativos, valo-res de identidad, valores de dife-renciación, etc. Dado que estos signos, por su inmediatez, son el
lenguaje que protagoniza de for-ma indiscutible gran parte de las actuales relaciones económicas, culturales, políticas, de ocio, etc., el diseño gráfico ha adquirido tal relevancia que parece obligado realizar una reflexión constante sobre su adaptación a las inespe-radas exigencias y derivas sociales.
A través del proyecto de inves-tigación titulado El diseño gráfico como forma de lenguaje: el “por qué” de los signos de Identidad Visual Corporativa en relación al “para qué” [1/UPV 00158.320-H-15884/2004] realizado en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad del País Vasco – Eu-skal Herriko Unibertsitatea, se ha abordado un estudio sobre los aspectos que construyen y vehi-culan el significado a través de los signos de IVC. En este proyecto se parte del principio genérico de que toda realidad aprehendida sensorialmente —sobre todo la percibida por los ojos— necesita ser comprendida; se trata de una necesidad vital, pues lo que no se entiende no es significativo, no re-presenta nada para el ser humano

Contest for a kitesurf cloth brand, with the purpose of designing a t-shirt, with the maximum of three colors. With this in mind I looked for inspiration on the actual logo, and came with the ideia of adapting its forms to a mascot.
