WHO: The World Health Report Published in 1995, “the World Health Report” is WHO’s most important

publication. This report provides countries, donor agencies, international organizations and others with expert assessments of global health, statistics relating to every country, and focuses and specific subjects in order for these to get help to make new policies and funding decisions.

APEC: Mission Its mission is to provide and support a sustainable economy growth in the

Asia Pacific region.

This is done by setting up a system of free trade and investment, promoting economic integration, economic cooperation, and facilitating a favorable business society.

APEC: History The idea of APEC was first proposed by Australia’s Prime Minister in 1989. In that year,

12 Asia-Pacific economies joined together to establish this institution. The founding members were: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.

In 1991: China, Hong Kong, and Chinese Taipei joined.

In 1993: Mexico and Papua New Guinea joined.

In 1994: Chile joined.

In 1998: Peru, Russia and Vietnam joined, taking the full membership to 21.

Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

Later members joined: Qatar (1961); Indonesia (1962); Libya (1962); United Arab Emirates (1967); Algeria (1969); Nigeria (1971); Ecuador (1973); Angola (2007) and Gabon (1975–1994).

Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, for five years.

New headquarters at Vienna, Austria, on September 1, 1965.
