• The genre of music I have chosen for my magazine is pop

music.

• The majority of my magazine will include pop

artists/bands.

• One reason why I have chosen pop as my genre is that it

appeals to a mainstream audience, opposite to a niche

audience and I want as many people as possible to be

into my magazine and want to buy it.

I have chosen pop as my genre for my magazine because it is a very popular these days and it has a very large mainstream audience, therefore is most likely that I would get people reading my magazine.

My favourite genre of music is pop, therefore I know a lot about the genre and I'm making my magazine appeal to people like me so I have experience of what my target audience want.

I another reason I have chosen pop is because when doing my institution research I noticed there wasn’t many pop magazines for older teenagers, therefore there is a possible gap in the market that my magazine could fill. My magazine will be different to other pop magazines because most pop magazines target audiences are girls between 12-15. Therefore I am going to make my target audience older, between 16-21. Also I will have girls as my primary audience but some of the content and bands in my magazine will appeal to boys.

There would be many institutions which would produce my

magazine like…

Institutions like this may be interested in producing my

magazine because they produce magazine with the same/similar genre but not the exact same type of

magazine.

I would like my magazine to be distributed by a large

company who were well informed about the genre.

I predict that my target audience for my magazine

would be… Mostly girls

16-21 year olds

Teenagers/young adults

People in college/university doing creative subjects like media, drama, music for example.

People in the demographic groups of B (people who are very creative within themselves) and some maybe D (people who would be students that have just got out of education and into working full time).

There would be arrange of disposable incomes along my target audience because some would still be in education or just working, whereas others may have been working for a while and have a good job in the media world.

People who would be in the psychographics groups, Hedonists and Reformers.

Media interests: music, fashion, make up, celebrity culture etc.

Buying habits: Music, CDs, posters, downloads, clothes, make up etc.

The people may read the magazine because there are musicians themselves and want to be inspired by the artists/bands.

read.

My magazine will be a typical pop magazine but with more class and be more professionalso it appeals to an older generation of girls- I will still use bold bright fonts and femininecolour palette to appeal to girls, like a usual pop magazine does.

I want that mode of address to be informaland chatty using slang as the language.

I want my images to be bright and eye-catching. Of mostly pop artists – with quotes and interviews

Page 10: My music magazine pitch

Juicy- This connotes that the magazine has an full exciting content this would appeal to the target audience.

Its what we call music...- This connotes relaxing and enjoyment. Also its direct address which is eye-catching and effective as a magazine name.

Listen, L k, Love it- This is effective because its alliteration which is eye catching and fun to say. Also the use of the eyes is effective and would drag peoples attention in.

Chart rave- This connotes entertainment, enjoyment and exciting, this would appeal to the target audience.

My magazine will feature young, current pop music. The music will mostly be what's popular in the UK at the moment. I will use a wide range of pop artist to make my magazine interesting.

The content will cover interviews with artists, articles, pop news, latest releases and reviews of albums, songs and artists in general.

I want my double page spread to feature some gossip news about a female soloist artist in the pop genre.

I have chosen to do an gossip article instead of an interview or article etc because teen girls love gossip and are more likely to read something juicy.

I have chosen that my text will be in a answer and response style format.

I have chosen to so a single artist which is female because teen girls are likely to relate to them and feel emotionally attached.

My ratio of images to text is going to be 50/50. I am going to have a picture which is in the centre of the right page and the background will bleed into the left page, my picture is going to be text wrap.
