MANOF DREAMTHE

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity:

“IT WAS ALL A DREAM”“Rocking with the stars”

Fllash cars, mansions, girls and the latest rolex sounds like every man’s dream. But what is it really like to be famous?. Many people

ask the same question, however only some have experienced the taste of fame and others are left woundering what it’s like to reallly be a superstar in th making. We see it on T.V we hear about it on the radio but is it really all about sex, drugs and rock and roll?. We see many artists on the big screen living the life of luxury, however it’s that all what fame is. Last week I was joined by Mawuena Dzotsi popularly known as M.O.D where he told me the truth about his fame lead life. Although from the outside it looks like M.O.D has it all, but he reveals his day to day routine of constant bombardment by the press and his loved fans. By the age of 17 M.O.D was signed to young money (Y.M.C.M.B) alongside the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj and many more. By the age of 18 he had his first number one Hit- I’m in love with bella, which started off his massive fanbase

He tells me “Although you’ve heard it all before making my hit a number one was a dream come true. I knew what I had wanted from the age of eleven and I am now an establised artist. I still wake up and cannot believe I do this for a living”. He then added ‘However, after my hit had made it number one, I was revealed the nega-tive aspects of fame. Being followed by press and fans was inevitable from the start I came into the game knowing what was in store’. Whilst talking to M.O.D he looked distressed from this side of the fame and start to feel uncomfortable. We spoke alittle more and then we started to talk about him getting signed to Y.M.C.M.B, and the conversation started to liven up, as he felt comfortable. M.O.D joined Young Money at th age of 17, the youngest artist to work along side artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne. His first US number one came from a massive collabaration with Lil Wayne-

it stayed at the top of the charts for 8 weeks straight, and then on M.O.D

became a worldwide superstar. I ques-tioned him on how he felt being a super-star, He added “ I can’t say much, when I was younger all I would do was rap, I

never expected becoming a star, but I thank god and my loyal fans for all the support and love they have gave me”.

Just sitting there and listening to M.O.D, he sounded very sincere and overwhelmed by the recognition he has recieved from his supporters. M.O.D grew up in rough a city, bir-mingham, sparkhill, moslty known for its gun crime, drugs cartel, robberies and many more, however from all the bad that has revolved around that area, still a star was born. I asked him about how he survived in a area like sparkhill, he added “Ha, struggle everyday, standardly hear guns popping off, see drug dealers on every corner, man it was hell”. Meeting M.O.D was eye opening and from this interview I took a lot away. We all love M.O.D for his classic hip hop feel to music which was lost over many years and for his incredible live ground break-

ing performances, he is a man who has lived thier dream, a man who we all love.

By Naeem Khanbut the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dream with open eyes to make them possible”
