•Learned from an Experienced Beekeeper
•Finding Mentor Important

•Purchased Bee Boxes, frames, top cover
•Bee Suit
•Long Leather Gloves and Nylon Gloves
•Smoker
•Tools – Brush, hive tool, frame perch
JUNE 11, 2017 BROUGHT HOME 3 NUCSTO PUT IN BOXES –AT NIGHT
• Found Good Level Spot - part shade and sun
• Protected from wind
• Below Tulip Poplar Trees
• Away from Road
• Set up Electric Fence – Bears
• Erected Signs
• Talked to Neighbors
Prepare Water Source for Drinking
• Began Monitoring Bees
• Went into hives approximately 1 x Week to Examine
Frames and check on bees
• Treated Bees with Apivar
• Attended Eastern Apiary Conference
•Helps the state monitor location and health of
populations
•Protects in case of loss due to bears or disease
