Week 1

The Skirt – Outfit 2

1. I traced a size 10 skirt block, both front and back to form my construction sheet.

2. I drew in the waist dart from the skirt block that I would feature

3. I a size 10 mannequin to measure how long I wanted the leather skirt to be. I started from the hip and measured down 31cm.

4. After taking this measurement I deducted 8.2cm from the length of the skirt on my construction sheet to make it 31cm long.

5. I then added the straight grain line and cut to fold marking onto the front and back of the skirt.

6. I made the pattern pieces of the skirt by tracing the front and back skirt off my construction sheet and drew on 1.5cm seam allowance around the edges that would be stitched, as well as a 2cm hem onto the bottom of the skirt.

The Shirt – Outfit 2

BODICE

1. Traced size 10 front and back bodice block to form my construction sheet.

2. I traced off the front bodice off my constructions sheet so that I could remove the shoulder dart.

3. Drew a line down the center of the waist dart using a grader. I then cut along this line and the outside shoulder art line.

4. I then pivoted the shoulder dart to remove it, making the waist drat larger. I stuck this down onto my construction sheet on top of the front bodice.

5. I added 5cm onto the length of the front and back shirt bodice.

6. After adding the 5cm’s to the length of the shirt bodice I added the grain lines to the construction sheet patterns and a cut to fold marking on the back bodice.

7. I then traced off the front and back bodice to form outfit 2’s shirt pattern pieces, adding on 1.5cm seam allowance around the edges that would be stitched and 2cm hem on the bottom.

8. I finally used a grader to draw on the straight grain lines and cut to fold on the back bodice block

COLLAR

1.  I measure the front and back of the neckline on my shirt bodice construction sheet and added them together. This measurement came to 18.1cm

2.  I drew a straight line 3.  I measured a 5cm width and drew it

on using a pencil, I then added an extra 3cm to create the point of the collar.

4.  I then cut out the collar pattern that I had just produce and sniped in several slits from the bottom off the collar, and stuck it back down onto a piece of pattern patter spreading out the slits to form my construction sheet.

5.  I then traced off the newly formed construction sheet, creating a pattern piece drew on a cut to fold on the back of the collar and a 1.5cm seam allowance around the other edges.
