States, we had thirteen colonies. These colonies covered most of the east coast.. The colonies of the north were different than the ones in the south probably because of climate differences. In the north, people lived in small communities with a commons area that was shared by everyone. Community gardens or farmland were also a usual part of the site. Not every town had a church, but they all had a “meeting house” that served as a church as well as town government meetings.
