Dino KraspedonMY CONTACT WITH FLYING SAUCERS

A Pleasant Surprise

The doorbell rang three times. My wife came andtold me that there was a parson at the door whowanted to speak to me.

"What does he want?" I asked apprehensively.

I don't know, but it looks as if he wants to preachat you, replied my wife.

Almost every Sunday Protestant parsons, orordinary preachers, would come along to preachat us or try to convert us to their belief. As, at thattime, I was an atheist in the widest sense of theword, I hated long biblical dissertations and, infact, had an aversion to anything that smacked ofreligion.

We won't be able to go out with the childrennow," I remarked.

"No, I suppose we won't," said my wife," butnever mind, if we don't go today, we'll go anotherday."

"It's not fair that the children should miss theirwalk. The will have to go out after lunch bythemselves."

I had a good mind to tell the parson I could notsee him, but then decided that he was probablyquite harmless. After all, he was only coming tosee if he could get me into heaven. I wentdownstairs far from pleased, but maintained an airof politeness, and managed to put on a smile.

Sitting downstairs, however, I found a well-dressed man in a good cashmere suit which fittedhis athletic body perfectly. As a rule priests dressunostentatiously, but this one was singularly wellturned out. He had a white shirt with a stiff collar, and a blue tie with white geometrical patterns. Hisshoes did not look as if they had been worn formore than a month or two.

My attention was drawn to the fine weave of hisgloves, and I remembered where I had seen thistype of glove before. As I came face to face withhim, I almost lost my voice with surprise; Irecognised him as the captain of a flying saucer.

In November 1952 I was touring with a friend inthe State of Sao Paulo. On reaching the top of theAngatuba range coming up from Parana, we wereconfronted by five saucers hovering in the air. Itwas a rainy day and visibility was had.

I went back to the same spot later and spent theedays and nights there in the hope of seeing asaucer again. On the last night, after a series ofepisodes which we will not go into here for fear ofdigression, a saucer landed and we were given thechance of going inside it and meeting its crew.

Page 4: My Contact with Flying Saucers

We stayed on board for about an hour looking atthe various pieces of equipment in the machine. The Captain was kind enough to explain how theyall worked. At the end of our visit, this fascinatingindividual promised to come and see us as soon ashe was able. And now, four or five months later,he had come as promised.

"Your surprise is quite understandable," he said, getting up from the armchair and extending hishand, "but I have come to return your visit to mycraft. I have come, not only because I promised, but because I very much wanted to have thepleasure of seeing you again."

"I feel I hardly deserve such a gracious gesture onyour part, especially as I have nothing to offer youbut the hand of friendship."

"If you were to offer me the whole Earth, but notthe hand of friendship, it would be worth nothing.Only friendship has real value. I accept it withgratitude as I have come to offer you the samething: my hand of friendship.

Please excuse me for having presented myself as aparson, but you must realize that your wife wouldbe very disturbed if she knew the truth."

"It was a harmless subterfuge," I reassured him,"and I am grateful to you for it; my wife wouldcertainly be unhappy if she one day thought herhusband was mixed up in some subversiveactivity in partnership with a foreign agent who

Page 5: My Contact with Flying Saucers

passed himself off as a gentleman wanderingabout in space.

"In fact I had never believed that flying saucerswere extraterrestrial. The whole thing appeared tome as a deception on the part of people of Earth, presenting themselves as beings from anotherworld, and exploiting humanity's vague desire toknow that there is other human life within thesolar system, in order better to carry on somenefarious activity or other.'

My visitor merely smiled. "I assure you," he said,"that your suspicions are groundless, but there isno doubt that it your duty to be on your guardagainst possible deception. Or thing is certainhowever; if I were a foreign agent I show longsince have conquered the Earth, and you wouldhave pa dearly for your curiosity which led youinto my craft."

At this point my wife came in with the children. She told me that lunch was ready and that the"parson" was welcome to eat with us. She wouldbe going out and would not be back until theevening.

During lunch I wanted to try out my guest'slinguistic ability to see whether he would betrayhis origin by his accent. I started off by discussingthe Christian religion and asked him if he couldtell me the first words of the Old Testament inHebrew, to which he replied promptly andwithout the slightest hesitation or embarrassment,

Page 6: My Contact with Flying Saucers

"Bereshith bara Elohim," (In the beginning Godcreated ) and proceeded to recite a lengthypassage.

I continued the discussion in the same veinwithout letting him know that he was being putthrough his paces. At one point I pretended to beday-dreaming and began reciting "hodie siaudieritis vocem meam.. " and asked him how itwent on. He continued .... . nollite obdurare cordavestra." (Today if ye will hear my voice, hardennot your hearts (Heb. 3:vii-viii).

Continuing on the same lines I said " nolliteputare quoniarn veni solvere lege aut prophet.. .",he completed it for me, "non veni solvere sedadimplere." [ Think not that I am come to destroythe Law or the Prophets: I am not come todestroy, but to fulfil (Matthew: xvii)].

I spoke to him later in English and Greek and heanswered me in each language perfectly. Not onlywas he a linguist, but it was obvious from what hesaid that he was extremely erudite, giving datesand places of historical events and the names ofthe principal figures involved. Only once in awhile would his interpretation of events beslightly at variance with our orthodox point ofview.

English was the only language he appeared tohave any difficulty with at all, nevertheless hisability to discuss the most varied topics in thatlanguage amazed me.

Page 7: My Contact with Flying Saucers

When we returned to the sitting-room I decided totry to find out what his scientific knowledge waslike; it is one thing to be able to discourse onhistory and religion and to have the gift oflanguages, but it is quite another thing to be ableto talk on scientific subjects. Obviously whentalking about science he should not only show hepossessed all the knowledge that we have, but heshould also be able to present something moreadvanced, If he could not do so, this would provehim to be nothing more than an inhabitant of thisplanet. Nobody makes up scientific theories onthe spot unless he is a genius or unless they do nothold water.

What is your name?" I asked him.

"I have no name in your sense of the word. On myplanet names are a picture of the character of theindividual. Though them we know a person'smerits and shortcomings, even if he is unknown tous. Our names are based on a combination ofsounds which would be unintelligible to you, forwhom one name is as good as another. Today Ihave one name, and if tomorrow I should be wiseror better, I should have a different one, and soon."

"I see. Well, tell me, then, where do you comefrom?"

"I come from a satellite of Jupiter."

"From which satellite?"

Page 8: My Contact with Flying Saucers

"Not from any one in particular. Sometimes I liveon Ganymede, and sometimes on Io, just as youmove around from one city to another."

"But I have heard that men from other planets arediminutive, but you are tall-over six foot. How doyou explain this?" I asked him with the object ofembarrassing him.

"We are not all diminutive. On the same satellitewe have men who are small or large, white, blackor dark. Earth men are generally tall, but there arealso pigmies and people of medium stature, andthe white, the red, the dark and the black. Naturereveals her unity in diversity."

"That is unimportant," I said. "One knows theleopard by its spots. You must be aware of ourprodigious efforts to make certain discoveries. Wespend vast sums of money on research, oftenwithout encouraging results. I myself, as you cansee from my books full of notes, do a lot ofstudying, but up to the present, I cannot say that Ihave learned anything. I appear to be lost in atangle of equations, and the mere mention of aparameter in a calculation drives me insane.

There is one problem, for example, which our bestphysicists and mathematicians have wornthemselves out on; it is one which I believe maybe easy for you to answer, whose science hasconquered space for you. The problem is to knowwhether it is energy or matter that exists inNature. I would like to make it clear that I shall

Page 9: My Contact with Flying Saucers

not be satisfied with some simple academicdefinition, and shall require from you a moredetailed explanation, which you are obviously in aposition to give. Can you enlighten me?"

The captain of the flying saucer seemed towithdraw his thoughts to some distant point, asthough looking for some way of embarking onthis subject in a simple manner, or as if he weretrying to listen to someone who was speaking tohim from the depths of his soul. Then heanswered me slowly, weighing each word as hesaid it.

[There follows within the book much detailedscientific information from the Captain which is ofa highly technical nature; we have thereforeomitted the more specialized material.]

God, Matter and Energy

A: Your question was badly formulated. Youshould first investigate the origin of matter andenergy, as both are expressions of something elsewhich you see and feel, but are not aware

Q: Are you referring to the ether?

A: No, I am certainly not referring to the ether.Ether only exists around planets for a certaindistance, and is nothing more than a type ofmatter. The etheric layers are effects, not causes.Lacking the basic terms of reference, it is difficult

Page 10: My Contact with Flying Saucers

for me to be explicit. What I mean to say is that Ilack the basic term of reference because youreason in a different way. I do not know theappropriate terminology in your language.

Q: What particular terms are you referring to?Mathematical ones?

A: No, theological ones rather than mathematical.

Q: What have matter and energy to do withtheology?

A: Man can only truly understand the phenomenaof Nature when he understands the nature of God.

Q: Well, I could never believe in the existence ofGod, for the very good reason that I could not seewhat part He had to play in the Universe. If Heexisted, and reigned eternally, He should play theleading role. But to me there never appeared to beany arbitrary principle capable of influencing thegeneral order of things, that could be consideredto be above everything that is; because matter, energy and the movement - of bodies, in facteverything, seems to resolve itself into specificlaws, mostly of a mechanical order. It is up to youto tell me what He is, what is His nature, what Heis composed of, what are His attributes, how Heacts and what influence He has on created things;and also to prove to me that He is not a meredecorative figure. I do not wish to be shown aGod subject to mechanical laws, in whom I could

Page 11: My Contact with Flying Saucers

never believe, but a supreme God who is aboveany law. If He is subordinate to the law, thatwhich subordinates Him is superior, and if lawsoperate on Him, then the divine attributes belongto the laws, and God becomes a mere subject. Iam also subject to law, but I am not God.

A: There is a certain truth in your scepticism. Iwould also not be able to believe in a God who issubject to anything or to the natural order. Law isnothing more than a convention and presupposes alegislator. The Creator is above the thing created,so He is the judge who judges the law. He is thelawgiving principle whenever lawgiving becomesnecessary for the good of creation, and for themaintenance of order. But creation itself is abovethe law, because legal statutes are only made forits protection. It is useful for the protection ofcreated beings, but if instead of protecting them, itbecomes oppressive, the legislator has the powerto modify it according to his discretion. Godjudges, and is not judged on any question.

I would like to give you my views on God, givingyou the simplest possible definition. God is anisotropic' line parallel to itself and vibrating onitself at right angles. He is like a system of axes inwhich the point of intersection of the lines is(isotropic: That which exhibits equal physicalactions in all directions. Light is a case in point.)everywhere at the same time. Then He is many, because dimensions are contained within Him,'when these are per-mutated-to use a terrestrial

Page 12: My Contact with Flying Saucers

definition-" n" equals infinity. Please rememberthat this is an attempt to explain, in humanlanguage, the unexplainable. On the basis of thispremise we can now go further and see howmatter and energy were created.

Q: Did you say created?

A: I mean created because there was a time whenthey did not exist. If they had existed for alleternity they would have coexisted with God andthe Father could not have been the Creator ofsomething which was as eternal as He. God actedas a transformer and created them. The "how's iswhat we shall study.

Your attention must have been drawn to aninteresting peculiarity of electricity: if we turn arotor in a magnetic field formed by a magnet, weimmediately get a flow of electrons which movealong the surface of the conductor. I myself usedto wonder where these electrons came from.

They must have come from somewhere, butwhere?

They do not come from anywhere, they weregenerated within the magnetic field. How? Theyare the result of a deformation brought aboutwithin the magnetic field by the movement of therotor.

Supposing we take this generator and enclose it in

Page 13: My Contact with Flying Saucers

an airtight vessel, we still get a flow of electronsas soon as we start the rotor turning, and if we hada pressure gauge inside the vessel we would seethat in spite of the large current flowing betweenthe two conductors, the atmospheric pressurewould remain the same. This being the case, wecan define the electron as deformed magneticspace, propagated in wave form. An eloquentproof that the electron is a wave form and not aparticle is obtained by refracting it through aspectrum.

There is an experiment that Earth scientists havedone to prove this: a gamma ray (a gamma ray isof electro-magnetic origin), when passing close toa nucleus, pulls an electron away with it. It is truethat the moment of inertia of the gamma ray ischanged. To explain this phenomenon theydevised the rather thin hypothesis that the ray'sacceleration was transformed into energy, but it isabsurd to believe that the moment of inertia of avector in space could be transformed into energy.

There is a relationship between energy and theforce that imparts acceleration to a body, but onlya certain relationship. Water activates a turbine, but the gravitational force which activated thewater could never be turned into electrical energy.

All that happened then was that the rotor movedinside the generator and caused a deformation ofthe magnetic space. The deformation that thepoints M' of the mass M of the rotor brought

Page 14: My Contact with Flying Saucers

about in the magnetic field corresponds to theforce of gravity in the water in a turbine.

If it is absurd to say that a vector moment createsenergy, it would be even worse to say that thismoment generates matter, in other words that anelectron is a particle. The only rationalexplanation is that a gamma ray, being ofelectromagnetic origin, deformed itself for aninstant near the nucleus and from this deformationan electron was created which must therefore be acharge of wave form……..

...In the first instance God supplied the power thatbrings about the deformation of space and theSun, by an opposite process, turns it back intoenergy, thus re-establishing the balance.Everything comes from God and everythingreturns to Him.

That is why neither matter nor energy exist, butonly deformed space, which is called matter, andwhat you call energy is nothing more than aphenomenon of transition between primordialspace and deformed space.

Q: I assure you, my friend, that we have no meansof refitting your theory, and your explanationfascinates me. However, God is spirit. If He cancreate matter, can it be said that all spirits candeform space and create also?

A: Not all of them. Only the Creator, whose

Page 15: My Contact with Flying Saucers

nature is different. Spirits are created, andtherefore in some degree manifest, but God is theUnmanifest. We are spirits but not of the nature ofGod. The Father is the generator of energy, andthe spirits are merely a form of energy, albeit adifferent form to that found in matter.

A spirit can create to a certain extent, just as weourselves can, within limits, deform space, createand destroy. But there are limits to the things wecan create. No spirit can create another spirit, forexample. That would be beyond its power, butnothing is beyond the power of God. Not only canHe create matter, energy and spirit, as He did, butHe also created others who have a nature akin toHis own. These are His Sons, let us give homageto them; they are of a similar nature to Him, andare sources of life and have the power to deformspace.

Life does not belong to us, and if we were todissociate ourselves from God, we would diespiritually. But these other beings who are of asimilar nature to the Father constitute with Him asingle unit, in themselves eternal.

Q: You said you were going to talk about themovement of the Earth in orbit. I would like tohear about that.

A: The Earth's movement through space is partlya result of its rotation. Note, however, that I saidpartly, because in order to explain it fully there is

Page 16: My Contact with Flying Saucers

one other thing in connection with the Sun thatneeds to be studied: Terrestrial science states thatthe Sun is the centre of the planetary system, which is not the case. The Milky Way is a vastmagnetic field, but a magnetic field containswithin itself secondary fields. Earth, for example,is a magnetic field, within a field of our system, which in turn is a field within the Milky Way.Earth with its poles also has its secondary fields, which the people of Earth have unfortunately notyet discovered.

(Many scientists already suspect that there may beother magnetic centres on Earth, independent ofother know poles. Thee Dutch have put a lot ofresearch into this question - Dino Kraspedon.)

A WARNING

Shortly, people of Earth will have other problemsto solve. If up to the present you have been unableto solve problems involving three bodies, therewill soon be a greater difficulty with the entry intoour system of another Sun. There will then be fourbodies instead of three, that is to say, the Earth, the two Suns and the magnetic center.

Q: I do not understand you. What is this other Sunthat will form part of our system?

A: That is what I want to explain to you. AnotherSun will soon enter our solar system, and we shall

Page 17: My Contact with Flying Saucers

be lucky enough to have a system of binary Suns. This is, in effect, one of the reasons, apart fromconveying greetings to you, why this meeting istaking place; the other is to warm you of thedangers to which you are exposed with the adventof the atomic age.

Q: Yes, I would like to know what dangers we arelaying ourselves open to with the advent of theatomic age, but first I would like to hear moreabout this new Sun.

A: It is a body of monstrous proportions whichwill shortly become visible in the direction ofCancer. It will not, however, emit any light as thelight of a Sun only becomes intense when it entersinto a secondary magnetic field such as our solarsystem. It begins to rotate on entering such a field. It deforms space around itself and generatescurrents which give rise to its brilliance, if it wereluminous beforehand, its light would set up aforce of repulsion, and it would be deflected fromits path. With no luminosity it becomes subject tothe pressure of our Sun, but its own momentumwill ensure that it enters our system.

It will first be seen as a reddish light, later turningto blue. After reaching the area of the largeplanetary bodies, it will encounter the repulsiveforce of the Sun, but in its rear it will then havethe weight of large bodies, also imparting a forceof repulsion to it in the opposite direction. Theforce of repulsion of the planets behind it, the

Page 18: My Contact with Flying Saucers

light it gives off and its great mass will cause thepresent Sun to move further away from themagnetic center of our system. Then the two Sunswill settle down in their new orbits, the one ofgreater mass and lesser light being nearer thecenter.

Two Suns in the solar system will create difficultproblems. The orbits of all the planets will bechanged. Mercury will move into the areabetween the present orbits of Venus and the Earth.Venus will move out to a position between thepresent orbit of the Earth and Mars. The Earthwill feel the effect before the new Sun settlesdown in its definitive orbit. As the luminosity ofthis body increases, the pressure of this light willcause the Moon to move out of its orbit, and itwill settle in a position that will turn it into aplanet. With this displacement it will take with itpart of the etheric mass of the Earth, which willimpart to it a stabilised movement. The Earth, inturn, under the pressure of the twin Suns, willmove out into the area now occupied by theplanetoids. In short, there will be a generaldisplacement of all the bodies belonging to 'oursystem. Pluto will be ejected from the system, andwill wander though space until it finds some newhaven.

["And it shall come to pass in that day, saith theLord God, that I will cause the sun to go down atnoon and I will darken the Earth in the clear day"(Amos 8: ix)].

Page 19: My Contact with Flying Saucers

The entry of a new Sun into our system wouldthrow the Earth out into an orbit between Marsand Jupiter now occupied by the planetoids. Allthe planetary orbits will be altered. There will beturmoil1 but this will be bearable as the repulsiveforce of the new Sun will speedily restore order. When the new Sun reaches it maximumluminosity the Earth will already be in itsappointed place in the system. There will certainlybe a change in the fauna, but life will continue, probably under better conditions than before.

The entry of this new body into the system waspredicted by Nostradamus in his famousCenturies, vol II, stanza 4r:"La grande estoile par sept jours brusleraNuee fera deux soleils apparoir."(The great star will burn for seven days, and cloudwill make two Suns appear) - Dino Kraspedon]

One of the satellites of Mars will be torn from itspresent orbit and thrown into space. As it is arelatively dense body, it will be attracted towardsthe center of the system rather than repelledoutwards. Its trajectory will be such that it willbecome a satellite of the Earth. Everythingdepends on its direction of travel when itestablishes contact with this planet. If thishappens to be against the direction of rotation ofthe Earth, the shock produced by its contact withthe etheric covering of the Earth will smash it topieces; if it is with the rotation of the Earth, thenthe satellite will attach itself to the planet.

Page 20: My Contact with Flying Saucers

The Earth itself will not be affected by thisimpact, as its etheric covering will protect it.According to our calculations, a shower of rocksis all that will reach the surface of the planet;principally in the area of Europe and NorthAfrica, Asia Minor, the north of South Americaand the south of North America. The impact willturn this now splendid Martian satellite intofragments weighing about 50 lb. each, which willlay waste these areas. After that, everything willbecome normal again and we shall have a new skyin which to travel, and you will have a new Earth.

Q: When will this take place? In the distantfuture?

A: It will be very soon, towards the end of thiscentury. The Earth will begin its new millenniumwith a new source of light to illuminate it. Manypeople will vanish forever from the face of theEarth but a small community, obedient to the lawsof God, will remain, and present suffering willcease. There will be peace and abundance, justiceand compassion. The unjust souls will get thepunishment they deserve, and the just will gettheir recompense. On this day, many willunderstand the triumph of the just and he will seewhy God did not immediately punish thewrongdoers. The Sun which is to come will becalled the Sun of Justice. Its appearance in theheavens will be the warming signal of the comingof the One who will shine even more than the Sunitself.

Page 21: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Q: What has the arrival of the flying saucers onEarth to do with the Sun that is to come?

A: We are studying all the effects that itsappearance will bring in its wake. If we werepermitted, we could, with suitable apparatus, sendelectromagnetic pulses against it, and prevent itsentry into our system by causing it to becomeincandescent outside our system. However, toprevent its arrival would be tantamount toopposing the Will of God and allowing theinjustice that exists here to continue indefinitely. Those with clear consciences and those at peacewith their Creator need fear nothing. Let it come.

We came here for purposes of study but also tomake a desperate appeal to man to avoid thecatastrophe and to live in peace. The Earth is notthe center of the planetary system, as waspreviously believed, but the center of evil. If manwere to reform himself, it is possible that theCreator would have compassion on him. Avoidwar, because man can thereby destroy his planetwith his own hands without the intervention of theforces of Nature. It is not difficult to be good; it issufficient to do no evil. God will do the rest.

Overcoming Gravity

Q: Have you any objection to telling us about theproblems of navigation in flying saucers?

Page 22: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A: None at all. It is obvious that interplanetaryvoyages will not be possible for people of Earthfor some time to come, but we will give them ahelping hand by showing you what takes place.

The atmospheric pressure on Earth is 1.033 kg.per sq. cm. If a sheet of paper is placed over themouth of a glass full of water and turned upsidedown, the atmospheric pressure on the paper willprevent the water from being subject to the forceof gravity and spilling out of the glass.

We use this natural atmospheric pressure in theflying saucer when flying through youratmosphere. It is this which gives us the necessarypropulsive force.

If we maintain this pressure underneath the saucerand bring about a decompression on top, the craftwill be given a terrific upward thrust which noknown force can match.

Q: Please be more explicit, I do not quiteunderstand the system you describe.

A: It is quite simple, my friend. We create avacuum in the direction of travel. If we have lowpressure on one side, the other side is subject tothe full atmospheric pressure. Any object, whatever its nature, can only be moved if somedifference of energy potential is created. Forexample, with a saucer of 20 m. diameter, we get3,141,600 sq. cm. as the surface of the saucer.

Page 23: My Contact with Flying Saucers

With an atmospheric pressure of 1.033 kg. per sq.cm. we can calculate that the force operating on asaucer of 20 m. diameter is equal to 3,278,272.8kg.

This gives you some idea of what is involved, even, the smallest type of saucer develops a thrustof approximately 3 million kg., whereas even yourmost powerful aeroplanes cannot develop morethan a few thousand kilogrammes of thrust.

Otto de Guericke was the first to notice thetremendous pressure of the atmosphere. It was in1654 that he tried to pull two hemispheres apart inwhich he had created a vacuum. Not even thestrength of sixteen horses could achieve this. Before this he had seen atmospheric pressurecrush a copper boiler in which the pressure waslow like a piece of paper. The movement of the airin the upper layers of the atmosphere supports thisincredible pressure; if it were not for these wewould be crushed by the volume of gas above us.

It should be perfectly feasible to construct asaucer on Earth. Its covering could be made ofany material, as there would be no friction withthe atmosphere. They could be any shapealthough the saucer shape is the ideal one, sinceone half can take the full force of the atmosphericpressure, while the other is immersed in avacuum. The speed and manoeuvrability of a cubeshaped craft would be impaired owing to airresistance on its sides, which would consequently

Page 24: My Contact with Flying Saucers

be subject to friction.

Unfortunately a craft of this type could be used inwar, but it would also revolutionise our transportsystems if it could be constructed on Earth.Distance would not be a factor, ships and truckscould be dispensed with, as loading and unloadingcould take place anywhere without having to buildspecial landing fields - Dino Kraspedon]

In a standard transport saucer, this pressure wouldbe much greater. With a craft of 100 m. diameter,we would get a thrust of 78,540,000 kg. and withone of 200 m. diameter the thrust would be314,160,000 kg.

There is no limit to the size or capacity of thesecraft. We construct big cargo carriers up to 600 m.diameter with a payload of almost 300 million kg.

This is more or less theoretical because we neveruse the whole cargo carrying capacity of thesegiant freighters. If we did so, we would not havesufficient force available to develop high speeds.

When we undertake any interplanetary journey weuse a low capacity craft. The size depends on theobject of the visit. Generally saucers with adiameter of 20 metres are the handiest. Thesecraft, fully equipped, weigh 250,000 kg. The totalcapacity of this craft would be 3 million kilos, butwe use this margin of power to enable us tooperate at high speeds.

Page 25: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A ship could never develop energy on this scale, not even atomic energy can compare with theforces of Nature. And Nature does it withoutpoisoning the atmosphere! Is it clear to you now?

Q: I understand. What an extraordinarily simpleprocess!

A: Yes, it is simplicity itself. It is just a questionof knowing how. But it would not be completeunless I told you how we set about creating avacuum externally. First I will explain to you howthe saucer is steered. We can move this vacuumin. any direction. Course is set by operating anordinary lever on a hemispherical mounting whichmoves the vacuum in the required direction. If wewish it to go in a particular direction, we producea vacuum on that side of the saucer, andimmediately the atmosphere produces a pressureon the opposite side pushing us in the direction ofthe vacuum. Let us imagine that we are moving inlevel horizontal flight, if we wish to make a right-angled turn, all we have to do is move the vacuumto the top, or to one of the other sides, and weshall move at the same speed in the new direction. We can change direction abruptly and do not needto describe curves. Do you understand now?

Q: Yes, I see the whole import of it. This canrevolutionise all our concepts of aerial navigation. It is a diabolical piece of machinery.

A:It depends on the use to which it is put. I still

Page 26: My Contact with Flying Saucers

have faith in humanity and promise that if one dayyou can agree to abolish war, I will personallycome and help you achieve these results, andother more important ones. I shall teach you howto make life a paradise.

But as I was saying, we create a vacuum and, touse your words, a "diabolical" thrust. Friction, however, does not arise as we are always movinginto a vacuum.

And without friction the craft does not heat up.We often need extra heating to keep ourselveswarm, because the vacuum causes a drop intemperature.

There are no technical difficulties involved inproducing an external vacuum. You know thatcathode rays have the strange property ofdecomposing the atmosphere through which theypass. Under the action of these rays, the elementsof the atmosphere revert to their etheric state. Inaddition to this we make cathode rays intersect theanode rays at an angle of 45 degrees. This weachieve by using high voltage and current.

Q: Where is the cathode ray apparatus situated?

A: All over the peripheral area. That is to say, thewhole of the outer edge of the craft acts as acathode ray emitter. These rays are deadly and canonly be projected outwards. If a human beingwere to be exposed to rays as powerful as the ones

Page 27: My Contact with Flying Saucers

we use, his cells would be destroyed, and hewould suffer lethal burns.

But inside the craft there is less radioactivity thanin the air that is breathed on Earth.

The coloration that saucers appear to give off inflight is caused by these rays, the same thinghappens in a Crookes or Geissler tube. They are aresult of the low pressure or vacuum that wecreate. If we wish to go very fast, we use anabsolute vacuum, and move through space in aflash. At other times, we use a semi-vacuum, andwe move more slowly. The intensity of thevacuum is proportional to the current used and iscontrolled by a rheostat. If we want to follow anundulating course we use a pulsing current.

When we are using a semi-vacuum, you observe aluminosity around us at night; but if we are usingan absolute vacuum we become invisible becauselight does not exist in a vacuum. This is the reasonwhy people always say that we appear to bestationary and suddenly vanish and appear inanother spot. [A diminution of the pressure incathode ray tubes causes the light in them todisappear. Light therefore is an atmosphericeffect, and if it were possible for us to live in avacuum we would be in darkness - DinoKraspedon]

I must admit that other methods are also used, such as the bismuth system, which is still used on

Page 28: My Contact with Flying Saucers

some craft to set up a difference of energypotential, in fact this was the system we used touse at first. [The captain described this other process to us,but as it was a complex one we would rather notrepeat it here.]

After having travelled around for some time inthese bismuth crates, a Being from another planetexplained to us how to use a simpler method. Now they are only used for space travel byenthusiasts as a kind of sport, just as you still usesailing boats.

That, my friend, is how you can make a craft asfast as, or even faster than, a flash of lightning.

Q:I filly accept the explanation you have given.Of course, a craft which could create an externalvacuum should have great manoeuvrability;motive power and payload. It appears to me,however, that this system would not be very goodfor getting away from the Earth. It is easy tomanoeuvre as long as there is atmosphericpressure. But at a certain height, unless ourcalculations are basically wrong, this pressuregoes down to nothing. I would like you to talkfrankly about the method you use to escape fromthe Earth, because what you have told us so far isonly part of the answer.

A: You are forcing me to elucidate a vital point, which I would have preferred not to tell you.

Page 29: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Once you know this, we shall no longer have anysecurity and would run serious risks due to man'sinnate love of conquest. But no one can refuse totell the truth when he is asked. I will tell youeverything, but you must promise to keep secretthe means by which we produce this force.

Q: Does this mean that I am not to tell it to otherpeople?

A: Of course. If there were nothing in what I haveto tell you I would not be imposing conditions. But you must use your own judgment. I cannotforbid you passing on to others information whichcould contribute to the well-being of thecommunity. But I insist that the information that Igive you concerning means of destruction must bekept for yourself only. What I want to tell youcould bring destruction even to us as it wouldmake it possible for you to reach our homeland. The menace that hangs over the world as a resultof human technological development would beupon us, and it might turn men into devils. If youapprove of the other things I tell you, you maytalk about them and carry them out. And if at anytime any technical difficulties should arise, I shallbe ready to help you solve them. It is sufficient foryou to call upon me in thought, and I shall know, even at a distance.

Friendship does not impose conditions, andgenerosity ought to be our universal motto.

Page 30: My Contact with Flying Saucers

I also ask you that if one day you should want tomake use of this information for the good of theworld, you should first tell your own people, asthe Brazilians are not aggressive and abhor war.Do not try to explain the problem to anyone whocould make one of these craft into a weapon ofmass destruction.

However, if your people do not attach anyimportance to the information, you should publishit as you see fit. You should do this without anyrestrictions, so that all men know it and no onenation can gain an advantage over another.

Now I will satisfy your curiosity, but first pleasepay special attention to certain details which Ihave told you. Around every inhabited globe inspace there is an etheric fluid which envelops itand creates suitable conditions for life.

It is a temporary habitat, not only for men but alsofor spirits. No one can escape from it unless heknows how to produce another for his use.

Q: Are spirits also caught within this ethericenvelope?

A: Yes. A spirit inhabiting a planet has a fluidbody surrounding it. A spirit who is still bound bymatter to any extent, cannot live without it. If itattempts to escape from its particular world, itsspirit body leaves it and is re-assimilated into theetheric envelope of the planet. Thus, even spirits

Page 31: My Contact with Flying Saucers

are prisoners for as long as they are unable toreject evil, and remain ignorant.

Many people call this fluid "ether," but the labelis of little importance. It is a question of words, which does not affect the problem. What isimportant is to know what it is made of.

We could well call it "electric fluid," which wouldbe nearer the truth. In electricity there is anegative charge, and a positive charge. In physicswe have protons and anti-protons, mesons andanti-mesons, electrons and anti-electrons, matterand anti-matter. On Earth we only find matter, yetit is possible to create anti-matter.

A body made of anti-matter would be expelledfrom matter. The force of repulsion would beunbelievable. There are interplanetary vesselswhich are composed entirely of anti-matter, butthe force-field created by this means has aterrifying effect on the physical properties of thepeople travelling in them. For this reason ourspace ships are made of matter.

Further, we make our own etheric fluid inside thesaucer, and by changing its polarity so as tooppose that of the Earth we are repelled from theplanet at a speed corresponding to the differencein polarity between the saucer and the Earth.

A knowledge of magnetic fields is required. Youon Earth do not yet define them correctly, but we

Page 32: My Contact with Flying Saucers

know that the magnetic field is made up of the"electric fluids' of the planet. If we "manufacture"an electric fluid which differs from the terrestrialetheric envelope, the magnetic field of the Earthno longer affects us, and we enjoy completefreedom of movement. We can change directionin a way that amazes you, we can move at thespeed of light and suffer no ill effects. It is acomplete breaking of the shackles which bindman.

Within the Earth's atmosphere we always use avacuum system, but when we leave thisatmosphere we put the anti-electron producingmachinery into action, and our escape velocity isthen phenomenal. Without wishing to terrify you,I can tell you that normally we can reach Mars ina matter of minutes, unless there is a breakdown, and then the trip becomes tedious.

When you entered our craft I called your attentionto the different kind of light inside which did notemanate from any particular piece of machinery, but was caused by the air itself being luminous. You also noticed an agreeable, almost spiritualfeeling of lightness, a state of near levitation, aswell as a feeling of great well-being.

At that time you were in an artificial ethericatmosphere and not the ordinary Earthatmosphere. When one's eyes are accustomed toseeing the terrestrial ether, the artificial etherappears luminous.

Page 33: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Without this artificial ether no interplanetaryvoyage is possible. If you tried to make a journeywithout this precaution, you would face certaindeath. The fluid which binds you to your bodieswould leave you, and your bodies would instantlybe crystallised. This is the mystery of thecrystallised bodies which reach the Earth in theform of meteorites, any body in space withoutether undergoes this process, whether it be madeof carbon, calcium, iron, nickel, or any otherelement.

After passing out of the magnetic field of theEarth, all we need to do is to create an ethersimilar to that of the planet to which we aretravelling, and we will then be attracted by it. Wecan create this ether of another planet even onEarth, so that we will be repelled from Earth andattracted to the other planet whose ether iscontained within the saucer.

On reaching that planet, we need only to changethe ether again to propel ourselves once more intospace.

By this means life can be maintained inside thecraft whatever its construction, and at the sametime it provides us with a means of locomotion.

Q:I think I understand the system, it is rationalenough, but the difficulty would appear to lie inmaking and changing this "electric fluid" asrequired.

Page 34: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A: You are wrong there. In Nature nothing isdifficult. Things are only difficult for those whomake them so. Let us go back to what I told youabout an electron being a wave and not a particle. One of your physicists said, correctly, that anelectron is an integration of electro-magneticwaves. But an electro-magnetic wave can be ofpositive or negative polarity. If we were to sendelectro-magnetic pulses between magnets, thewaves thus produced would create an etherdifferent from that on Earth. A variation in thedistance between the plates would bring about amodification in the ether produced. That is whatyou wanted to know in clear and simple terms. Icannot tell you more clearly than that.

Q: Is very much electrical energy required tobring about this effect?

A: Everything is relative. On our saucer, thevoltage and current are very high indeed. On asmall craft used for research, very little currentwould be needed.

Q: Where do you get this energy from to achievethese results?

A: There are various means of making it. It can beobtained by turning hydrogen into helium at lowtemperature and bombarding deuterium withheavier mesons, releasing a fabulous amount ofenergy; or by using ultra rays in an acid solutionsaturated with helium nuclei. The latter process is

Page 35: My Contact with Flying Saucers

the most usual.

Q: How does the transformation of ultra rays intouseable energy take place?

A: If you allow radioactivity to pass through amagnetic field you will get alpha, beta and gammarays. The first are helium nuclei, the second areelectrons and the third are gamma rays which aresimilar to ultra rays in their electro-magneticcontent. These three components of radioactivityare related.

The ultra rays, or gamma rays, on passing close tohelium nuclei, bring about a deformation of spaceand give birth to electrons until their wave energyis expended. Thus when gamma rays pass throughan acid solution saturated with helium nuclei, thenewly created electrons gyrate around the nuclei, but the acid prevents them from joining up withthe nuclei, and they are collected on plates at thebottom of the apparatus. This provides aninexhaustible supply of energy which requiresnothing more than a little acid solution and somehelium nuclei.

There are, however, other means. On aninterplanetary journey something might go wrongwith the apparatus we use for transforminghydrogen into helium and the gamma raycollecting apparatus. If this should happen wewould turn to solar energy. We would pass itthrough a tube of coal gas. This gas, with a

Page 36: My Contact with Flying Saucers

suitable catalyst, unites with water, turning it intoformaldehyde. This product is then oxidisedgiving us coal-gas and water again. In this secondprocess solar energy is turned into useable electriccurrent, which is quite sufficient to meet ourimmediate requirements, as on interplanetaryvoyages there is no lack of propulsive energy forthe craft. The laws of inertia provide us with thenecessary acceleration to reach the planet that isour objective.

Q: So that explains the whole operation of thesaucer?

A: Yes, that is how it moves. We have, however, several navigational instruments, as you were ableto see. Supposing you had to explain to somebodyhow a jet plane moves, you would naturally saythat a backward thrust is exerted which impels thecraft in a forward direction. That would be true, but inside the plane there are many navigationalinstruments.

If I were to begin to talk to you about theequipment we use for detecting the ethericcovering of planets, that alone would take us somethree hours. The instrument we use forinterplanetary communication is also complex; itis based on principles that you already know of,but have not put into practice.

The most important scientific discoveries are stillto be made in the simplest things. The secret lies

Page 37: My Contact with Flying Saucers

in concentrating on the main issue without goinginto abstract formulae.

With a formula you can explain a phenomenonbut you cannot discover it. In science we have totry to discover things, even though everythingmay already appear to have been discovered. Tobring formulae into the calculation merelycomplicates something that was previouslysimple.

How would your formulae help to show that adifference of energy potential could be producedbetween the atmospheric pressure and a vacuum, thus producing a thrust. If you had discoveredthis, it would not have to be proved. The craftitself would have been sufficient demonstration.Anything else is academic pedantry.

Terrestrial science does not accept anything whichcannot be proved mathematically, and is then onlyaccessible to the few. I can assure you that manybrilliant ideas have been shelved for the solereason that their originators were not sufficientlyversed in mathematics to supply the necessaryproofs. This kills the spirit of research in a worldwhere so much is yet to be discovered.

Q: We supposed, hitherto, that the saucer simplycancelled out the effect of gravity.

A: You supposed something that doesn't exist.Gravity is no more than a wrong interpretation of

Page 38: My Contact with Flying Saucers

a combination of phenomena.

Q: What? Doesn't gravity exist?

A: It does not exist. What science calls gravity is aquestion of a difference in the density of bodies. To explain; the smoke of your cigar is heavierthan the surrounding air. Yet, it rises as the resultof warmth. That is to say the difference in densityis compensated for by the temperature of thesmoke. Therefore, two factors are at work whichcan influence this phenomenon; density andtemperature.

We can see that a balloon full of hydrogen gasrises, according to the volume of the gas. Thesame thing happens with helium. That is to say, bodies of lesser density always tend to rise, in thesame way that water and oil separate, due todensity: Gravity does not prevent bodies of lesserdensity from rising. Whereas in air, which is oflow density, heavy objects fall rapidly, in water-more dense than air-they fall more slowly. Thethird factor influencing gravity is the mass ofatmosphere and ether surrounding a planet; thiscan, however, be included in the factor of density. It is wrong to attribute greater or lesser gravity toa planet without knowing the extent of its gaseousmass and the density of its atmosphere. OnSaturn, for example, owing to the absence ofatmosphere, gravity is considered zero. OnJupiter, which has a very rarefied atmosphere, it isquite different. A falling body has a high initial

Page 39: My Contact with Flying Saucers

acceleration and then it collides with the lowdensity of the planet. On Mercury, however, where the etheric covering extends more than6oo,ooo km., atmospheric pressure is high andgravity is tremendous.

The fourth factor influencing gravity is thevertical component of magnetism. However, theattraction it exerts on a body is, with smallvariations, the same as that on any other body. Thus it is that the speed of fall in a vacuum isconstant. However, this attraction is not due tomass, it is caused by the magnetism with whichthe whole body is endowed.

Lastly, we have the energy that exerts pressureupon the Universe and penetrates our systems ofgalaxies, of which I spoke to you earlier. As abody cannot be subject to pressure in alldirections, the Earth always shielding it from thispressure on one side, the body feels a differencein the forces acting upon it and falls to the surfaceof the Earth.

This tremendous universal pressure, which is theresult of the vibration of God on the infinite pointof the Universe, is what maintains the atmosphereof the planets.

As the atmospheric pressure has the fabulouspower we use to propel our saucers, and as thetendency of gases is towards continual expansion, the whole of the gaseous envelope surrounding a

Page 40: My Contact with Flying Saucers

planet would expand into the vacuum were it notmaintained by constant pressure.

When Newton saw the apple fall, he could notguess that in that moment he witnessed the effectof the divine presence in the Universe. Thus it isthat we move and have our being in God.

Gravity is, then, a combination of phenomena andnever an individualised force.

Q: Why does heat affect gravity?

A: Because it reduces the magnetic force ofbodies. You can prove that a magnet loses itsproperties on being heated. As matter is made upof stationary waves, heat has a powerful influenceon them. By increasing the frequency of thesewaves they begin to give off light. Moreover, it iswell known that heat reduces the density of abody. Accordingly, it tends to rise. This can bestbe seen in the case of boiling water. The warmerwater tries to place itself above the cooler, producing currents. We note that heat is a factorwhich affects gravity, not because it is itself anagent causing the phenomena of gravity, butbecause it influences magnetism and density.

Q: Does this mean that our science is wrong?

A: Very wrong.

Q: Then all our physics, including relativity, fall

Page 41: My Contact with Flying Saucers

to the ground?

A: Only the fallacious principles fall to theground. Others will certainly remain valid. Does itseem strange to you that this should happen?Ptolemy was a genius, but his entire systemcollapsed like a pack of cards. The same thinghappened with Aristotle. In turn, Isaac Newtoncame up with the physics of relativity, and itsdays are numbered…..

Q: ….Well, what about the curvature of light, obseryed by Eddington, Crommelin and Davidsonduring the eclipse of the Sun on May 29th, 1919,which formed part of Einstein's theory?

A: The curvature of light is not due to the actionof the mass of the Sun, but is caused by themagnetic centre of the system situated near theSun. Even within a solenoid you can see that astream of electrons is deflected by a magneticfield. There is nothing new in this. If light were tobe deflected when passing close to a mass, thisphenomenon could be clearly observed in thevicinity of planets, let us say Mars, when it isclose to Earth. Eclipses of the Moon, for example, would provide the best opportunity for suchobservation. Nevertheless, this curvature was onlyseen precisely where the magnetic centre of oursystem is to be found. If there were no repulsionbetween energy and magnetism, your motorswould not turn. Therefore, light is deflected by themagnetic centre and curves round the Sun. If you

Page 42: My Contact with Flying Saucers

had proper apparatus, you would see that lightalso curves on the side opposite the centre, asthough it were trying to get away from the Sun.

I wish to imply that the curvature of space is anti-scientific. Primordial space is not relative to anything and has no form at all. It is neither a curvenor a straight line, and it has no dimensions, it issimply space, infinite in all directions.Wheresoever an observer may place himself, hewill always have before him the infinite Universe.

Q: Then no limit can be conceived to matter?

A: If in space there should be a point that couldserve as a limit to creation, there God would becontained. But God is infinite, and the Universe isa point to Him. Only a materialistic science couldlimit creation. If you conceive a limit, what wouldyou then have beyond it?

Q: I should say, nothing.

A: Truly, you would have nothing. But space isnothing transformed by God. Matter also isnothing. If it comprises anything, it is the divineenergy that brought life to space. To you matter issomething; but make a stream of cathode rayspass through it and it will disappear from yourview. You will only see space.

All that appears is an illusion of our senses. Onlyone thing is real; that is Spirit, and that is exactly

Page 43: My Contact with Flying Saucers

what earthly science does not admit.

Q: It is hard for us to learn that our most cherishedconcepts are completely at variance with reality.

A: Indeed, one of the bad aspects of man is hisobstinacy. If I had erred for an eternity, I wouldwelcome the day when someone would enlightenme. Believe me, I am telling you the truth. Whatpain can anyone feel by putting error aside andseeing the truth

Q: But it is difficult for us to abandon the scienceof relativity.

A: It will be difficult for science, also, to abandonthe experiments of Hertz and Fresnel, who settledupon the wave theory of light. However, whenscience has to explain electronic theory, the wavetheory is put aside; when atomic theory is inquestion, it turns things upside down and says thatthe electron is a particle, and has recourse toPlanck's theory.

Before abandoning relativity, first decide whetherthe wave theory or the emission theory is true.Verify the true speed of light. Determine theaction and reaction of the planetary system. Neveruse two interpretations in one science, in order toexplain the same thing.

Q: I have noted the factors which you say affectgravity, but there is a case which should be

Page 44: My Contact with Flying Saucers

considered. If it is true that the density of bodiesaffects gravity, on the top of a mountain the air ismore rarefied so that iron, for example, being in amore attenuated medium, should weigh more. However, the contrary is the case, the higher onegoes, the less it weighs.

A: But I told you also that gravity is affected bythe mass of ether surrounding the planet. If theweight of the atmosphere, at sea level, isequivalent to a column of mercury of 76 cm. foreach 10 m. of altitude the column falls about 1mm. Thus, we must consider the pressure whichbodies undergo as a function of their density. Thelower the atmospheric pressure, the less is theweight. If gravity were a force with its ownattributes and it was that which supported bodiesin space, it would be rather difficult for earthlyscience to explain why meteors are maintained intheir orbits. Every year Earth collides withmillions of meteorites, always in the same month. This means that they are located in one place. Now, if there were a law of gravitation, theywould either all come towards Earth, or alreadyhave been attracted by the Sun. However, thosewhich succeed in penetrating the mass of etherfall to Earth and the others remain in the sameplace. They are, then, in balance between themagnetic attraction of the centre of the system andthe repulsive force of the Sun. For terrestrialgravity to exist, there would have to be solarattraction, but neither of these exist.

Page 45: My Contact with Flying Saucers

If my reasoning were incorrect, bodies in avacuum would never have the same speed of fall.

For the sake of argument, let us suppose thatgravity exists. But if all bodies in a vacuum fallwith equal velocity, it ceases to be true that matterattracts matter in direct proportion to theirrespective mass, at least not if this matter is in avacuum. If this premise is demolished, it is easy tosee that if a vacuum exists between the celestialbodies, solar gravitation-if it exists-should attractall bodies equally, independently of their mass. But all terrestrial astronomy is based on the massof bodies and their distance from one another.

Therefore your conception of the cosmos iswrong. Besides, when Newton supposed agravitational force to exist, he had to imagine theexistence of an ether. He could not conceive ofthis force without there being a vehicle for it. Andit is strange that, later, relativity denies the etherand yet approves of gravity. it admits what thediscoverer of gravity himself could not admit.

This being the case, we do not cancel out gravityat all. All we do is to utilise the forces of Nature.if our craft flew on the basis of cancelling outgravity, as you suppose, we would only move inone direction. We would always fly against theEarth's rotation, and it would be impossible to flywith it, or anywhere near the poles. Besides, wewould be limited to the insignificant speed of1,660 km. per hour.

Page 46: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Now, it is laughable to imagine a craft comingfrom another planet with such low velocity andwith only one directional movement. Such asaucer would be much inferior to terrestrialaircraft and it would be a case of our coming tolearn from you something about manoeuvrabilityand how to fly faster…...

ASTRO-NAVIGATION

Q: Shall we one day be able to journey throughspace and visit other planets?

A: Yes, it will be possible, as it is, in fact, atpresent. There is now much talk on Earth ofjourneys through space and of conquering otherworlds and their inhabitants but before runningthe tremendous risks involved, one needs to knowall the laws which govern the planetary systemand the peculiarities of each one of the planets. Ifone were ignorant of these laws one would bedestroyed before leaving the rarefied matter thatsurrounds the Earth; and if we are to have thepleasure of being conquered we should hate to seeyou come to grief without having got beyond thegaseous envelope of your own planet! There is novisible doorway into space, but it is shut to thosewho are ignorant of the fundamental laws thatgovern it.

Knowledge is the key that opens it.

Page 47: My Contact with Flying Saucers

But in view of the state of Earthly knowledge, thisis as yet an impossible dream. Science will not beable, in one fell swoop, to achieve the conquest ofspace when it knows nothing about what happensmore than 300 miles up.

How do you think that man, who knows nothingof the forces which move and maintain the planetsin space, can leave the Earth? This would betantamount to a primitive savage building anaeroplane and flying.

To achieve this using fuel propellants isimpractical for various reasons, if only becausefuel is unnecessary. If the forces which operate inthe planetary system were indeed those whichterrestrial science claims them to be, the saucerwould be attracted by the Sun or by the planetsand in this case the law of inertia that maintainsacceleration imparted to a body would not bevalid. Even at this point science has gone wrong.

If one were to use fuel, a tremendous amount of itwould be required in view of the time it wouldtake for a craft of this type to reach another planet. Then there is the question of the return journey. This method is obviously impractical.

The difficulty facing the people of Earth is anillusory one. They need only to understand cosmiclaws and everything will be made easy. If we havebeen able to understand them, you also will beable to.

Page 48: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Earth's scientists have got their terminologymixed. It appeared to them that the only thing thatcould conceivably maintain the Earth in orbit andaccount for its revolution was solar attraction, sothey based all their calculations on this. In realitythe opposite is the case; the Sun exerts a repulsiveforce on the Earth. Further, as it was obvious tothem that a body could not maintain itself in anorbit when acted upon by a single force, theyimpute miraculous qualities to centrifugal force, believing that it was the second force that held theplanets in their orbits. Nothing could be fartherfrom the truth.

Even if centrifugal force did give the necessarybalance to a planet, which it does not, there is oneglaring omission in this theory, namely the forcethat impels a planet in a certain direction. Theysee that a planet is attracted, they also see thatcentrifugal force counterbalances this attraction, but they do not see that they have overlooked athird force which gives a planet movement. Whenone whirls a stone on the end of a string, the stringrepresents the force of attraction and centrifugalforce plays the part of repulsion, but theindividual represents the third force which givesdirection to the stone.

Your term is "centrifugal force," which means tosay that all the points in a body tend to fly awayfrom the centre. We put it diffently. In our viewall the points M' tend to follow a straight line inspace in the direction of the impelling force and at

Page 49: My Contact with Flying Saucers

a tangent to the equatorial plane of the body.

It is this interpretation of centrifugal force whichgives direction to the saucer when we leave theEarth or any other planet. Without it there wouldbe no interplanetary travel.

Now let us analyse the consequences of theterrestrial system based on solar attraction andrepulsion through centrifugal force: if all thepoints of a body tried to fly away from the centre, the force of solar attraction resisted by thecentrifugal force would give rise to a loss ofenergy and the planet would become stationary.

We should also bear in mind that this loss ofenergy would be a double one as the Earthdevelops two kinds of centrifugal force, the firstdue to its orbital velocity, and the second due toits axial rotation. Work cannot be performed by abody without a source of power. If Earth itselfwere the source of the power, then the whole ofphysics, thermodynamics included, would bewrong.

This alone is sufficient to show the incorrectnessof terrestrial astronomy, as a theory is only validwhen it answers all the relevant problemsinvolved….

Jupiter, with a mass 317 times greater than that ofthe Earth, should be subject to a far greaterattraction than the Earth, yet the velocity in orbit

Page 50: My Contact with Flying Saucers

is not high enough to counterbalance this andmaintain it in orbit. This planet has a large massand a low velocity. This being the case, either theorbital velocity of the Earth is too great for itsmass, and it should be flung out of its orbit, orJupiter's is too low, and it should be drawn intothe Sun.

Note that I give Jupiter's mass as 317 times that ofthe Earth, so as not to differ from your estimatewhich is based on the force of attraction of theSun against centrifugal force. This figure, however, is incorrect.

You might raise the objection that Jupiter, with itslarge mass, revolves in an outer orbit according tothe theory that spheres of greater mass are said tobe more subject to the action of centrifugal force.Against this we have the case of Mars which issmaller than the Earth, yet is farther from the Sun;or again, the planets beyond Jupiter which aresmaller than it, and yet revolve at a tremendousdistance from the Sun. Moreover their velocity inorbit is very low. So that does not make senseeither.

The phenomena of Nature are simple and caneasily be explained. The difficulties lie in thecapacity of beings to analyse the facts, and theyoften elaborate complicated systems which areoften quite ridiculous. There was one which lastedfor some time which maintained that the Earthwas held in space by elephants. If anyone had had

Page 51: My Contact with Flying Saucers

the sense to ask what the elephants were standingon, this theory might have had a shorter life.

Nobody can equate problems without weighing allthe factors which lead to their solution. Scientistsforgot, when dealing with the movement ofplanets, that energy must have been used up as aresult of solar attraction working against the twocentrifugal forces mentioned. If no explanationwas given as to the source of power necessary tosustain the movement- which in this case is whatthe elephants' feet stand on-then it is because theproblem was based on false premises.

In the theory which I contend is the correct one, this force is derived from difference of energypotential which sunlight sets up by illuminatingone face of the planet while leaving the other mdarkness. A body which is balanced between twoopposing forces (attraction and repulsion) has noweight and moves like a stone whirled round onthe end of a string, the radius of its orbit beingrepresented by the string. All the mechanicalphenomena of the Universe are explainable.

Q: There is one great difficulty you appear toforget. If there is any logic in your theory thatplanets can be maintained between the attractionof the magnetic centre of our system and therepulsion by the light of the Sun, how can yourtheory be applied to satellites? For example, howcan you reconcile these factors with the problemof the Moon's movements?

Page 52: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A: By the theory of centrifugal force which iswhat I have not yet explained. Before showingyou the solution I would like to point out thedifficulties in the theory that Earth's people haveelaborated.

The Moon does not describe a truly circular orbitround the Earth. Sometimes it moves closer andother times it moves away. The distance betweenthe planet and the satellite can vary by as much as26,000 miles. If the Moon were maintained by theaction of gravity against centrifugal force, its orbitshould be perfectly circular and there being abalance of these two forces, the Moon would beunable to alter its distance from the Earth, unlessthere was some inconsistency in the laws ofgravitation, which would be inadmissible. Thisdoes not take into consideration the fact that whenit moves into close orbit, the balance is upset andthe satellite should be drawn towards the Earth. The first satellite of Mars represents a curiousphenomenon which completely negates yourconception of the truth; while Mars completes itsaxial rotation in 24 hours 37 minutes, its satellitecompletes three revolutions round the planet, taking 7 hours 39 minutes per revolution.

We are thus back to where we started, wonderingwhat supplies the force which enables the satelliteto disobey the gravitational force of the planet andcomplete three revolutions instead of one.

Even more curious is the behaviour of the ninth,

Page 53: My Contact with Flying Saucers

tenth and eleventh satellites of Jupiter, whichutterly defy the laws of gravitation as you supposethem to be.

Jupiter and its satellites move anti-clockwise,whereas the above three satellites move in theopposite direction.

I will now show you why the Moon is held inspace without colliding with the planet; it isbecause it lies within the periphery of the ethericenvelope which surrounds the Earth. There is amagnetic attraction between the two bodies, thepoles of the Earth acting on the poles of the Moonand vice versa. While there is attraction betweentheir magnetic fields, the two bodies themselvesare repelled by solar light.

Q: How?

A: Sunlight is reflected from the Moon to Earthand from the Earth to the Moon. The combinedreflective action of the two bodies supplies thenecessary repulsive force to overcome themagnetic attraction. The result is that the satellitemaintains itself in orbit. When the reflection ofsunlight between the two bodies is greatest, thepressure increases and the Moon moves awayfrom the Earth; when, however, the Moon iswaning the reflection of light is less, whichproportionally decreases the force of repulsionand the magnetic attraction increases so that thesatellite moves closer to the Earth.

Page 54: My Contact with Flying Saucers

This variation causes the Moon to describe aperfect ellipse around the Earth.

It is wrong to suppose that tides are caused by theattraction of the Moon. What happens is the exactopposite; this can be proved by observation.Sunlight reflected from the Moon exerts apressure on the liquid mass of the ocean. Beingcompressed at one point, this liquid is raised up atanother. This is the explanation of the retardationof tides caused by the Moon…...

Q: …..Knowing all these things, how do you setabout travelling though space, or better still, howshould we go about it if we were to attempt to doso?

A: I explained to you how the atmosphere can beionised by cathode rays. The ionised "bubble" isabsorbed by the atmosphere creating a vacuum inits rear into which the saucer is drawn, thus risingupwards. Now, the Earth develops a surface speedof 1,040 m.p.h., but no one feels it move. Thismeans to say that if we continued to rise inrelation to a point on the Earth's surface weshould be increasing our speed, but would have nosensation of acceleration. On reaching a height of250,000 miles from the Earth's surface we should, without any other effort than that of goingupwards, reach a speed of 66,000 m.p.h., which isequal to the speed of revolution of the planet inspace. We neither see nor feel the speed we havereached as we have no point of reference; but if

Page 55: My Contact with Flying Saucers

there were a stationary observer outside theetheric envelope, in which we have no sensationof speed, he would see us moving at a terrificangular velocity.

Having reached this speed we would try to escapefrom the etheric coveting, falling into the vacuum.Due to the tendency of moving bodies to move ina straight line, we would leave the ethericenvelope at a point at which the saucer, byfollowing a straight line, would reach the planetwe wanted to get to. The procedure would, ofcourse, be different if we were using the "electricfluid" of the planet as our means of propulsion.

In order to explain one principle to you, I havehad to omit another. I said "a straight line" inorder to simplify the reasoning, but we have, infact, to take into consideration the deflectiveaction the forces of attraction and repulsion wouldhave on us. We would, however, follow arectilinear course because we have means ofoffsetting these differences. If we create amagnetic field with the powerful solenoids at ourdisposal, we should be attracted, and if we switchoff the field, we should be repelled. That is why itis necessary to understand fully the laws ofNature, otherwise we would not reach any planetat all.

Also for the sake of simplicity I said that we leavethe Earth at a speed of 66,ooo m.p.h. In practicethe minimum escape velocity we use is 125,000

Page 56: My Contact with Flying Saucers

m.p.h., of which 66,000 are supplied by the Earthand the difference by the speed developed by thesaucer within the atmosphere. Sometimes we useeven higher speeds which to you would seemincredible. Nature has resources which the peopleof Earth have not dreamed of.

Using a speed of 66,000 m.p.h. with which theEarth provides us gratis, it would be possible forpeople to attempt a journey through space andreach other planets, but there would be certaindangers due to loss of energy though solarrepulsion. It should be noted that we move at rightangles to the direction of solar repulsion. If wewere to move in the same direction we should beimpelled by it, and if we were to move in anopposite direction we should be repelled by it, inwhich case we would suffer a loss of kineticenergy. Therefore a higher speed is required, asthe laws of inertia are valid to some extent.

A pilot who is used to making these flights coulddo so using this low speed, but it would take hima long time.

With a high escape velocity we only require fuelor 'other sources of energy in small quantities foruse within the saucer.

We can completely disconnect the Crookes andGeissler tubes which bring about the atmosphericdisturbance because we have no need for them.Once in a while they are used to deflect meteorites

Page 57: My Contact with Flying Saucers

that we meet with en route. We generally connectthem up when wandering meteorites appear on thescreens of our detecting apparatus.

At a certain height above the Earth's atmosphere abody begins to rotate violently. This fact has beenobserved by you countless times, and it is thesesame factors which cause the Earth to rotate.Under low atmospheric pressure a bodyilluminated on one face, with the other indarkness, tends to rotate on itself on an imaginaryaxis. This is a grave danger for the inexperiencedfor the same thing happens in space. In order tocorrect this we heat up that part of the craft whichis away from the Sun, and this maintains ourbalance.

The principal technique in astro-navigation lies inestablishing contact with the etheric covering ofthe planet we wish to reach. We must alwaysapproach the planet in the direction of its rotation. If we were to approach it counter to its rotation, our craft would be broken to pieces. For thisreason we approach the etheric mass at a tangent, following the direction of its movement. Twobodies travelling in the same direction have norelative velocity; it is as though they were bothstationary. Then the contact between them doesnot give rise to any friction.

I should also add that we have means of stoppingand starting the saucer in space and, naturally, ofincreasing or diminishing its speed. If we were

Page 58: My Contact with Flying Saucers

travelling at 175,000 m.p.h. it would be dangerousto make contact with the etheric covering of aplanet with a low speed of rotation, even if thistook place in the direction of its movement. Insuch cases we reduce speed until we are movingat the same speed as the etheric covering.

This is a convenient place to explain to you thephenomenon of meteorites which reach theplanets. If they reach the etheric envelope againstthe direction of the planet's rotation, they arebroken to pieces, but if they come into itfollowing the direction of rotation they sometimesmanage to reach the surface of the planet. This, however, depends on the speed at which theyreach the planet.

If we go from Earth to Jupiter, we generally useMars or Venus as staging posts, depending on thepositions of the planets at the time.

In your case, as you would not have any reliablemeans of correcting your speed in space, youshould, if you were to undertake a voyage toJupiter, proceed as follows:

Earth moves in orbit at 66,000 m.p.h., Mars at54,000 m.p.h. and Jupiter at 29,000 m.p.h. Thesolution would be to use Mars as a staging post, and attain a speed identical to this planet'srotation, that is to say 54,000 m.p.h. A differenceof 25,000 m.p.h. between your speed and that ofthe ether of the planet will not produce too great a

Page 59: My Contact with Flying Saucers

friction. In order to prevent accidents the Geisslertubes should be switched on at the moment ofcontact in order to avoid as much friction aspossible. With the velocity supplied by Mars, thejourney could be continued to Jupiter, but the tripwould take a long time.

No landing should be made on Jupiter itself, buton the satellites. The small etheric envelopemakes contact very dangerous, unless the craft hasits own means of deceleration in space. Youshould aim by preference for Ganymede, whichhas a large etheric envelope and atmospheremoving at a high speed. Io can also berecommended. It would be wrong for you to passvia Venus since this planet has a velocity of77,000 m.p.h. and the difference between thisspeed and Jupiter's would be too great.

Q: What would happen if we were to stop thecraft? For example, if we approached a planetwith only vertical acceleration and no horizontalacceleration?

A: You would only do this once, there would beno second time. You would be utterly destroyed. The shock would be of unparalleled intensity. Itwould be as though you were standing on arailway line and a train ran into you at high speed. We know because many of us made this mistakeand died. It was also difficult for us to learn thesecrets of space. You will not have thesedifficulties if you undertake a space journey one

Page 60: My Contact with Flying Saucers

day, because we shall have told you the dangersthat can dog the steps of the most courageoustraveller.

You have only to listen to us and tell the punditsof Earth that it is wiser for an individual to profitby the experience of others than to reach the sameresult at the price of his own life. We are awarethat you threaten to dominate and even to destroyus, but we do not wish to bring about your ruinthat way. On the contrary, we should sorry to seethe people of Earth fail, as we are sorry aboutmany of the things they do.

We would prefer to see you as horsemen of space, holding the reins of a fiery chariot, or as intrepidsailors braving the turbulent seas of the Cosmos.

Maybe men would then come to understand thegrandeur of the works of God who dispensedriches abundantly in every corner of the Universe, and see that there is no need to fight for land andlebensraum. To fight for these things shows anignorance of the greatness of the Universe; manbehaves like a turkey held within an imaginarycircle, lacking the intelligence to see that he needsonly to take a single step to freedom.

Maybe men would also cease destroying oneanother in warfare over some wretched oil wellswhich are no more important than holes in theground. If they need energy, space sends it tothem from all directions by means of cosmic rays.

Page 61: My Contact with Flying Saucers

It is as though they were dying of thirst whilesailing down the Amazon.

They have only to lower a bucket into the waterand fill it as often as they wish.

If they would cease making war, and live likerational beings, we would show them how toharness energy, be it atomic, solar, magnetic orcosmic energy. If they learn to be peace-lovingand merciful, the elder brothers in the solarsystem will show them how to turn this Earth intoa Garden of Eden.

Do not believe that God made the world evil, forit is His wish that all should be happy. Nobody'ssuffering brings Him any satisfaction. Pain, physical or mental suffering and difficulties ingeneral are of no help to anybody, but only showhow debased his feelings have now become. Ifanything produces suffering, it is resentment andblasphemy against Him who continually showersblessings on us.

Everyone is responsible for the misery andoppression in which he finds himself If manchanges his heart and makes up his mind to bemerciful and good, he will at once have countlessbrothers at his side to help him, not to mention thehelp and joy from on High. Rest assured that theFather is more ready to give than the son is to ask.

If one day you should recount to others what I

Page 62: My Contact with Flying Saucers

have told you, tell them that I, personally, in thename of the inhabitants of my planet, assure themif one day any country in the world decides toabandon destruction, I will come, together withthousands of others, to give them material helpand moral support.

Even if this should happen to a man instead of acountry, we would still come to this man, and nota hair on his head would perish. We do not rely onour forces. alone, but on the paramount power ofthe Universe, which always supports the efforts ofbeings who follow the right path.

At the moment the Great Powers of Earth arepreparing to make war. In a few years theirswords will be drawn, making a holocaust inhonour of their Moloch, and a host of victims willfall to the self-interest of a few potentates whostop at nothing to gain their objectives, even at thecost of many living.

Human blindness is deplorable. Men preach peacebut destroy the Earth; they talk of love andperpetrate deeds of hatred; they believe inprogress but disregard finer feelings, becomingworse than beasts.

We have been watching the carnage on Earth forsome time and we had hoped that man might oneday understand the work of God and repent. Wewaited for this transformation to come about, butin vain. However fruitless our efforts may be, we

Page 63: My Contact with Flying Saucers

have come to present ourselves and to offer youhelp. In this we are obeying an order, and ourhearts are glad to be able to extend a helping handto others.

You must be wondering why I am revealing allour knowledge without restriction. It is becausewe would like to share what we have with thosewho have not. It is like giving medicine to a child,if the pill is bitter we coat it with sugar. Whileexplaining the scientific points we are at the sametime making a desperate appeal to you to unite inthe great Christian doctrine of brotherhood and torenounce wars for ever.

It is an indication that we are ready to help youwith all our resources, asking for nothing in returnsave the right to call each other friends. We arenot interested in your raw materials, because wecan obtain them at will by transmutation. Wewould like to see your Earth and land in yourcities, to live together with the people and enjoytheir company. If we were in too much of a hurryto come down, we would greet you with a friendlydip of the wing.

You would come to us and be able to live in ourworld, making use of all that we have, because inour society, all goods are held in common.Among us the only currency is brotherhood. Wedo not bargain with the gifts that God gave us, butput ourselves in the position of being able to handthem out.

Page 64: My Contact with Flying Saucers

MAN'S WASTED EFFORTS

Q: Can you please tell us what you think of us,and give us some idea of our weak points. In agame of cards it is easier for an onlooker to seewhat should be played than it is for the players.Your views would obviously be unbiased. In whatdirection should we progress to achievehappiness?

A: You want to be happy, and think that materialprogress is the magic word which makes waterspring from a rock. Neither worldly possessionsnor knowledge can ensure a man s happiness.Knowledge is not an attribute of animals and yetthey are happy as God made them. The savage inhis habitat lives peacefully in spite of his povertyand ignorance. He would probably not exchangehis discomforts and lack of knowledge for all theerudition of the scientist taking part in scientificdiscussions.

True human happiness must rest on theunderstanding that it is God's will that man'sdestiny should be a glorious one, in obediencewith the laws of the Creator and in love for hisfellows. Of what avail are all his possessions andall his knowledge, his dominion over the forces ofNature, if he has no dominion over his own heart?

Many scientists placed themselves above theworld, and in their arrogance felt superior to other

Page 65: My Contact with Flying Saucers

men. But they died, and their theories weresubsequently disproved. They are remembered asindividuals who thought they knew everything, but were deceived and did not even knowthemselves.

Others became famous though the possession ofworldly goods, but death destroyed their dominionand at the last moment they felt unhappier thananyone when they saw that they had lived inillusion. Nobody dies happily with science andmoney alone.

However, those who showed their wisdomthrough love still live in men's hearts.

They died happily having lived happily. Mary ofNazareth, Florence Nightingale, John the Baptist, still live on as true individuals, the light of theirlove illuminating the lives of many. Withoutdoubt St. Francis of Assisi lived at so high a levelthat the scientists who designed the atomic bombcould not even hope to touch the soles of his feet. And yet he was not a learned man.

There are men of great riches on Earth, yet theycould not prevent their sons becoming thieves ormurderers. Did riches bring happiness in suchcases? A rich man may send his son to universityto return a few years later with his diplomas, butcan a diploma make a person good? Cannotlawyers also be thieves, and doctors murderers, and priests immoral?

Page 66: My Contact with Flying Saucers

I maintain that a hungry father with a virtuous sonwould be happier than a rich father with a thievingor murderous son.

Q: I realise that righteousness is superior toeverything, but I would like to know, from ourmaterial point of view, excluding any ethicalconsiderations, what the principal mistakes in ourmethods are, and how they might adversely affectour future.

A: Nobody can divorce progress from its moralaspect. But since you wish to know of the effects, and not the cause, I will outline them to you:

Humanity's great failing is never being able towalk without its eyes glued to the road it hasalready covered; it has thus become a pillar of saltlike Lot's wife. Man is basically conservative andprefers to live in the memory of times that cannever return rather than in the hope of a radiantfuture. He fears the day to come instead ofhelping the future and preparing its way. Heexpends an enormous amount of energy on thingsthat cannot help him, and wastes precious time onfutile things; for instance, he wastes money, teachers' and pupils' time, maintains buildings, uses up brainpower, all to teach dead languageswhich should have been buried long ago.

Paper, ink, books, chalk and a thousand otherthings that could be put to a better use are used inteaching useless things. Instead of a dead

Page 67: My Contact with Flying Saucers

language, why not teach the functioning ofphotosynthesis. It would be more worth while toknow the meaning of potential gradient, or thefunctions of the body, rather than the declensionof an ancient language. Rather than look into amost promising future, they prefer to live amongthe mummies of history, and try to resuscitate thepast.

There is a multitude of things which childrennever hear about, and which they may never cometo hear about. Rather than teaching recitation, itwould be better to show them how to grow onionsand celery, or teach them that wheat, besidesproviding good food, can also be used for makingvegetable oil, viscose, xylose, acetic acid, soap, alcohol, cellulose, syrup, textiles, fuel, etc., andthat the stalks and leaves from which all thesethings are made should never be buried becausethey are unsuitable as fertiliser and are carriers ofcrop diseases.

Teach them rather the meaning of thehydrogenous potential of the soil, how to correctacidity, what soil requires in the way of nitrogen, caesium, cobalt, sulphur, manganese andphosphorus. Show them that vegetable hormonescan produce cabbage leaves ten feet high, andapples weighing several pounds.

Children can forget the names of those whobrought devastation to humanity, but they shouldnever forget that it is possible to transform the

Page 68: My Contact with Flying Saucers

light of the Sun, virtually without loss, into usableenergy by passing it though a coal gas whichunites with water to form formaldehyde; and thatthe oxidised aldehyde can turn sunlight intoelectric current.

There is far greater beauty to be found in thesaturation point of a solution than there is in thestory of the destruction of Carthage.

Millions of individuals die of cancer, whereasschools teach children the colours of nationalflags, offending the innate gregarious instinct ofman which intuitively abhors the artificial barrierswhich economic power has erected in the world.

Rather than dwell upon the word "China," theyshould learn more about caesium; instead ofFrance, Brazil, U.S.A., U.S.S.R. they should learnmore about the functions of nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur and iron, teaching them that theseelements, among others, produce proteins, andthat they, in turn, linked to caesium molecules, make up the anti-cancerous elements normallycontained in the liver. Tell them that these sameproteins, when linked to cobalt molecules, combatanaemia and are known as vitamin B.12.

Instead of sounding praises to the destructivepower of an invader show them that heavyhydrogen is one of the main causes of cancerwhen it gets into a cell, and that caesium has theability to strip it of an electron making it into

Page 69: My Contact with Flying Saucers

ordinary innocuous hydrogen. Show them, statistically, that cancer generally affects childrenwho have not yet reached fertility, or old peoplewho have passed it, that sex is thus a defencemechanism of the body, and that these hormonesshould not be wasted for the mere satisfaction ofinstincts.

Teach them that instead of drinks it would bepreferable to take an extract of liver withenzymes, since these elements cause cancer torecede.

It surprises me that humanity, not havingdiscovered a cure for tuberculosis, should learnrhetoric and dissertation at school. These thingsshould be pastimes for people who do not havediseases to worry about that bring misery tomillions of people. It is as though 'someone inmortal agony should begin to study the metre ofAlexandrine verses..

But all the above put together are not as serious ashumanity's main fault: the dispersal of his forcesto an alarming degree. I cannot quote the exactstatistics for the world, or even for your country, but we can make an approximation.

There are about 50 million people in Brazil.About 30 million of these are children too youngto take part in the productive life of the country, another 10 million are women, which leaves 10million men.

Page 70: My Contact with Flying Saucers

In the latter figure one must include the retiredand the unproductive, beggars, lepers, consumptives, lunatics, invalids, the blind, thieves, prisoners and the unemployed.

A large proportion of work is in unproductive, speculative undertakings, such as wholesalers, retailers, advertising men, estate agents, stockbrokers, lawyers, bankers. Others areemployed in the police, army, navy, air force, magistrature, diplomatic and civil service, etc.

This leaves barely a million productive menemployed in agriculture and industry. We wouldalso have to be sure that this agriculture isproductive in the true sense of the word, and thatthe industries are the ones that the country reallyneeds.

In any case, even supposing that all the men wereproductive, we would still only have 2 million outof a total of 50 million, that is to say, one manworking for every twenty-five people, which isabsurd when we consider that this individual whodoes the work for the other twenty-five generallydoes so without mechanical aids, by the sweat ofhis brow, so that the others can maintain theirstandard of living.

Of the million or so who take part in agriculture, many work against the better interests of society, growing tobacco and stimulants, or are engaged inthe fattening up of animals which impoverish the

Page 71: My Contact with Flying Saucers

land and subsequently poison man with theirmeat.

We could say almost the same for those employedin industry. There is nothing wrong with factories, their chimneys are, in a sense, lungs getting rid ofcarbon dioxide from the central organism.

But man does little to put them to proper use.Factories are by no means always built to solvefundamental problems. The great majority areengaged in making cosmetics, jewels, uselesstrinkets for women, endless handbags, ridiculoushats, novelties, nail varnish, shoes which hurt thefeet and ruin the carriage, stockings which offerno protection, cigars to poison the body, chewinggum, footballs, pistols and sporting guns, munitions, alcoholic drinks and other stimulants;yet there are countless useful and necessary thingswhich could be mass produced, such as buildingmaterial, medicaments, synthetic vegetablehormones, machines for producing energy, electronic stoves, concentrated foodstuffs fordistressed populations, philosophical andscientific books, plastic shoes, surgical andorthopaedic instruments, fertilisers, mechanicalharvesters and sowers, insecticides, prefabricatedhouses, indestructible furniture, prospectinginstruments, nitrogen plant, etc.

But let us leave aside all this wasted effort and seehow you make use of the work of these 2 millionmen who are at least doing something. The annual

Page 72: My Contact with Flying Saucers

budget estimates for your country must besomewhere about 6.5 billion cruzeiros [1952]. Ofthis sum, about 4.5 billion are spent on the armedforces, and about 1.5 billion on civil service, thejudiciary, state loans, government expenditure, foreign ministry, electoral machinery, officialjourneys, banquets, etc.

The small remainder is used for beneficialpurposes, such as education, public health andagriculture.

Imagine if all this money were ploughed into theconstruction of roads, schools, hospitals, churches, research institutes, sanitation, newindustries, housing schemes, shelter, medicaments, transportation, etc. Imagine if thisvast number of non-productive people were to bediverted into new productive enterprises.

Even then everything is not covered by the federalbudget. What about State expenditure? Have youchecked the amount of money spent on localgovernments, public service, police, etc? Howmany police are there in your State alone?

The expenditure on horses alone which are keptfor parades would go a long way to feeding andsheltering the hungry who walk the streets in theheat and in the rain. It is ironical that in a societyin which its people can suffer from hunger andcold, horses should be given balanced rations andcovered with good woollen blankets.

Page 73: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Is a police force necessary? Yes, it is necessary. Itis the necessity of having a policed state thatRousseau spoke of. But if it is necessary, it is onlybecause men have made it indispensable. If apeople waste their productivity on bad things, misery results from their irresponsibility. If therewere an abundance, no one would think of killingor robbing. Human passions are stirred up bymoney because money gives rise to arguments, toprofit, the voracity of financiers, and toruthlessness. If there is a robbery, it is not, withcertain exceptions, because the thief enjoys thecrime, but because he feels robbed by societywhich denied him the right to have his ownhouse,to till the land without paying rent, and tofully enjoy the liberty which Nature givesinstinctingly.

The waste of fuel under the present system isalarming. Cars, which could carry several people, are usually driven by one person who, in themajority of cases, is merely amusing himself, whereas the person who is working has no meansof transport. The avid desire for profit andbusiness create a demand for petrol, oil, tyres, etc.If the structure of society were changed, the trafficthat now blocks the roads in the rush hour woulddisappear, leading to economy in both fuel andvehicles.

Man could work less than a year in his whole life, and yet live better than the richest man on Earth. But for human society, even progress is

Page 74: My Contact with Flying Saucers

dangerous. If automation is developed, men willdie of hunger owing to unemployment. Yet eventhe manual labour that men do today could bedone by obedient and indefatigable electronicbrains. These "robots" could plough, sow, spreadinsecticide and fertilisers, prune and reap. If theysensed an ailing plant, they would be able to judgewhether it should be treated or whether itconstituted a danger for other plants and should beuprooted. These "robots' could be developed to apoint where they would be able to drive vehiclesautomatically without danger of collision oraccident, they could pilot planes with safety, informing base about any possible defects, andtaking steps to repair them in full flight.

They could be used to measure metabolism andact as doctors supplying restorative energy.

For less than the amount of money that is spent onsmoking every year, you could do away withcancer; for a tenth of the money spent on drinksyou can banish leprosy from the face of the Earth, and tuberculosis would no longer be a subject forstatistics.

Control of the atmosphere could regulate theclimate avoiding natural catastrophes, and savingcrops.

Electric cells could be placed in streets to absorball irritating noises.

Page 75: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Education could be changed. Naturally, anyradical change would involve the dismissal ofteachers which in the present world situationwould mean that they would suffer seriousprivation.

Today most people spend the best part of theirlives, from the age of seven until about thirty, poring over books, and at the end of this, they arechagrined to find that they have learned nothing, and still have a long way to go. A lifetime is tooshort to learn everything.

However, using hypnosis in a truly scientificspirit, the whole scope of education could bechanged. In a few hours a child could master awhole subject which at present takes the betterpart of its youth to master. Further, he would doso with great accuracy. It would be sufficient toput a child into a controlled hypnotic sleep, withthe help of a drug such as canabissativa, or acombination of chloroform and morphia, administered at intervals with a psychologist athand to dictate all the material to be learned. Thiscould be carried out on a large scale withthousands of pupils at once, making use ofheadphones. It would be easier, more convenient, and cheaper, and it would not bore a child withlong lectures, it would not be subject to theshortcomings of the teachers, and otherdisadvantages of the present system. Pupils couldgo to college early, sleep and come back with ascientific degree in their pockets. Do you think

Page 76: My Contact with Flying Saucers

this is too short a time to learn so much? Surely ateacher would not be able to dictate enough in thattime. The spirit pays no heed to the concepts oftime and space, an eternity can be condensed intoa second, or a second can be made into aneternity. One could create the system of rapidtransmission. Human thought waves work on aband of about 5mm wavelength. If electricalmessages were sent within this band in successivewaves, the whole of human knowledge could betransmitted in a very short time.

The same method could be used to do away withatavistic tendencies and criminal tendencies. Inhypnotic sleep the mind becomes receptive andready to learn and profit by sound teaching. Onecould go further and break down the barrierbetween the conscious and the subconscious. However, this would require considerabletechnique which could only be mastered in time,as there is a risk of the concept of timedisappearing from the mind altogether.

Prisons could be emptied, in the first place bydeleting criminal tendencies from the human mindso that no further malefactors would come intobeing, and in the second because those withcriminal tendencies already would be re-educated.by the hypnotic process and reintegrated intosociety.

With its framework changed, society wouldovercome the moral prejudices which dog its

Page 77: My Contact with Flying Saucers

steps. Man would overcome death and old agewould no longer exist on Earth.

Q: How do we overcome death?

A: In order to overcome death, one needs to knowthe fundamentals of life. It is the spirit whichgives life to the body, and is bound magneticallyto the body.

The current flowing through a solenoid gives riseto a magnetic field which draws the iron core intothe coil. Any field must have a center to act as avehicle for the lines of force which it generates.Once it has attracted the iron, the solenoid can beturned in any direction without the core fallingout. No visible bond is holding it, only lines offorce, several thousand to the square inch, whichare not visible to the naked eye. The relationshipbetween spirit and the body is similar to thatbetween the solenoid and the iron core. The bodycorresponds to the solenoid and its current can bemeasured with an encephalograph; the spiritrepresents the iron core.

If the magnetic field made by the body isinterrupted, or its lines of force broken, or if theelectric current which feeds it stops flowing, thenthe spirit is freed. This is death.

However, if the lesion which gave rise to theinterruption could be cured by suitable apparatus, the field would be restored, and the spirit, if we

Page 78: My Contact with Flying Saucers

called it back, would return and unite with matter, falling again into the restored magnetic field. Forthis, one would use human or vegetable ectoplasmwhich would cure the injured part.

Death is therefore a defect which can beovercome. I do not mean to say that man couldlive eternally, but he could get as far as makingMethuselah envious. He did not live longerbecause the Flood swallowed him up, but ifmankind were good, the forces of Nature, insteadof destroying man would continue to preserve hislife.

I have told you what I think from the materialpoint of view, but I could tell you much morefrom the spiritual point of view, exploringavenues which science, up to the present, has noteven dreamed of. You showed a preference for thematerial point of view. You got what you askedfor.

The Atomic Danger

Q: Please tell me why you think our use of atomicenergy is dangerous?

A: I do not say that the use of atomic energy is adanger to Humanity. What I do say is thataggressive hatred coupled with atomic energy willdestroy the earth.

Page 79: My Contact with Flying Saucers

There are two sides to every picture. It dependswhich you choose.

Electrical energy is useful to man, as it turnsmotors, runs factories, produces abundant light, and in fact supplies, all the requirements ofmodem life. Yet it is also used m electric chairs totake another's life.

Dynamite can also be put to peaceful uses, breaking up rocks, mining, making canals, etc.;but it is also used in weapons of war.

Aviation represents a step forward on the road topeace, and the brotherhood of man, yet it is usedto rain destruction on cities, bringing death tomany homes, orphaning thousands of innocentchildren who know nothing of the commercialinterests of the potentates of Earth.

In the story of Croesus, all that he touched wasturned to gold; mankind is a Croesus in reverse. Ifhe touches the pure gold which God offers him,he turns it to filth that pollutes the world.

Atomic energy is a gift of God, when usedsparingly and for peaceful ends. Its wanton useand its application to war could mean thecomplete and utter extinction of the life as weknow it today on this planet.

The last chapter of atomic energy has not yet beenwritten neither on Earth nor in any other part of

Page 80: My Contact with Flying Saucers

the Universe. It cannot, in fact, be written byanyone because it has no end. You are, then, stillbeginners in this vast subject. Soon you will usehydrogen, nuclear fusion, and then gamma rays,as means of destruction. If you do not destroy theglobe with hydrogen bombs, you will do so byother more powerful means. One day the end willcome. If nothing else, when you discover themagnetic effects of the planets, you will destroyeverything. Put a monkey in a laboratory and seewhat happens.

The people of Earth have two roads ahead: life ordeath. May they make a wise choice!

Q: Do you mean to say that atomic energy isgood, except when used for warlike purposes? Inthat case, its effect can only be harmful from themoral point of view, but not inherently harmful.

A: I meant both. The moral aspect is obvious, butI implied the material aspect too.

Q: What is its effect upon the material order ofthings?

A: In a short time you will have hydrogen bombsof devastating power. Remember I told you that inthe upper regions of the atmospherephysiochemical reactions take place whichprevent the penetration of rays from the Sun.These layers not only filter radioactivity, but alsomaintain the Earth in space.

Page 81: My Contact with Flying Saucers

One must often admire man's acts of generosity, when he becomes good and is endowed withintelligence. At other times he shows himself tobe a fool. If a slight increase in solar activitydisturbs life on Earth, changing human beings,Hertzian waves, climate, etc., how much moreharm can be done by an increase in radioactivitydirectly injected into the heart of Earth byhydrogen bombs?

Solar disturbances are periodic and their effectssoon disappear because they are the result ofwaves; but radioactivity produced by hydrogenbombs has a lasting effect, because atomic dustremains in suspension and takes time to fall. While in suspension it damages the higher layers;when it falls it poisons everything.

A planet is a delicate organism, whose naturalequilibrium cannot be upset with impunity. Thisexcess radioactivity begins by influencing men'sbrains, upsetting them noticeably. Soon you willsee madness range over the Earth.

The use of hydrogen bombs will unleash thehorsemen of the Apocalypse, who weredesignated for that day and hour. Elements nowunknown will appear and poison the vegetationand, consequently, men and animals. The seaswill be poisoned and the fish will die. Water willbe contaminated at its source, because it will fallfrom radioactive clouds. Showers of particles willfall to Earth and the crops will perish.

Page 82: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Moreover, the atmospheric layers will bechanged. Upon their composition depends thestability of the planet. They will then cease toproduce light and affect the luminosity of the Sun.They will no longer be able to filter the solaremanations and the Sun will turn black and youwill experience indescribable sensations.

There will be Dantesque scenes. It will be thenthat Earth's people discover how wrong was thetheory based on the fixed speed of light at186,000 miles per second. Earth will be subject toenergy in the form of ultraviolet waves, withspeeds of millions of miles per second.

Meanwhile, in spite of this intense solar energy, there will be no light, but only a rusty red glownear the ground. Man will suffer from terriblecold, but his flesh will be burned as with a hotiron by actinic radiation. If man looks at the Sun,his eyes will be destroyed.

The upper layers of the atmosphere produce orprevent earthquakes. A major alteration of thesewould make the whole Earth tremble and its citieswill collapse like a pack of cards; a quaking earthbelow, and darkness and burning heat above.

Enormous waves will form on the seas, compressed violently by the solar energy. Thepoles will be subject to greater solar pressure andwill melt, raising the level of the seas so thatpeople in maritime cities would be struck with

Page 83: My Contact with Flying Saucers

terror. The roaring of the waters will play a fearfulduet with the groaning of the earth.

The present rate of atomic explosions has alreadycaused the mean heat of the Earth to increase, andit will continue to do so at the rate of 0.3 degreeC. each year. If there were to be a hydrogen war, there would be pandemonium.

Radioactivity in the upper layers is alreadyenough to melt the polar caps and flood low-lyingcities.

In twenty years there will be a difference of 6C.Before then, all the ice of the poles will havemelted.

Strange diseases will appear. The liver is a livinglaboratory and on being attacked by the ingestionof radioactive elements scattered about the world,it will lose its ability to produce the elements forbodily defences.

Leukaemia will destroy children who have notreached puberty, as well as old people whose sexforce is spent. Cancer will spread rapidly. Ghastlypestilence will attack the skin and the eyes andthere would be no cure.

Nursing mothers will weep with sorrow, knowingthat their milk, which should nourish the child, carries lethal poisons which will destroy its bonesand bring leukaemia. Many, unable to withstand

Page 84: My Contact with Flying Saucers

such suffering, will seek death, cursing life andthose who launched such despair upon the world.

Then humanity will see whither progress withoutGod has brought them maniacs in the streets, themaimed everywhere, hospitals overflowing, cemeteries full, larders empty, millions destroyedby war, orphaned children, ravaged cities, contaminated fields, poisoned waters, terrorisedmultitudes, plague, terror, blasphemy, grief, desolation. On Earth, people in anguish; in theHeavens the Cosmic Laws upset.

Will you not understand that only spiritualprogress linked to God can be of any value, andlead mankind on the road to peace? Will you notyet see that only love can uplift man to reacheternity?

But this is not all. While atomic potential is beingprepared in your arsenals to destroy Earth at oneblow, guided missiles will be improved.

The day will come when armies will lose theirraison d'dtre, navies will be useless, and even themost advanced air force will be obsolete.

Men will destroy themselves by pressing buttons. Then the great danger will threaten. In a moment, like a flash of lightning, a cloud of flame couldannihilate all life of Earth.

For a rocket, to get from one continent to another,

Page 85: My Contact with Flying Saucers

needs to climb to heights where only purehydrogen exists. There would be a hydrogenbomb in the nose of this rocket. Now, in the upperlayers of the atmosphere, atomic reactions aresubject to different laws. Magnetic fields areweaker and the bomb more easily triggered off.The critical mass and the critical distance are notthe same. The great mass of pure hydrogen in theupper regions and the whole earth would betransformed into a blazing inferno. Even with abomb working with heavy hydrogen alone, thehomogeneous medium would ensure the suddentransformation of these layers into helium. Thatwould be the end. Perhaps it would be better thana slow ending.

If this should happen, the prophecy of Saint Peter, written in the last chapter of his second letter, would be fulfilled: "But the day of the Lord willcome as a thief in the night, in which the Heavensshall pass away with a great noise and theelements shall melt with fervent heat, the Earthalso.... shall be burned up."

No one will know when this day will be, becausethe blow would be struck by surprise, withoutformal declaration of hostilities. Men will thinkthey are safely leading a normal life, when amadman presses the button, stabbing the Earthand murdering its inhabitants. Man, for havingsown all these years, life without God, shallshortly reap a harvest of tares, because the ears ofscience are ripening already.

Page 86: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Q: What are the elements which will bring aboutchanges in the liver, causing disease?

A: The radioactive elements will cause changes inproteins and these will attack the liver.Radioactive carbon will alter the metabolism.Cobalt, which normally helps to prevent anaemia, will, in this radioactive state, destroy the bloodcells. An isotope of strontium will unite withcalcium and affect the bones. Phosphorus, whichis concentrated in the brain, will reach motornerve centres and radioactive iodine will work itsway into the main glands of the body. Radioactivealuminium and magnesium will influence the sex-glands. Because of the destruction of parts of thehypothalamus, man will suffer from terriblehunger, but there will be nothing to eat; otherswill 'have an uncontrollable sexual desire. If theactivity of the thyroid is impaired, it will upset thebalance with the adrenal glands, which will eitherproduce an excess of adrenalin or none at all.

Q: What has the thyroid got to do with theadrenals?

A: In the case of a tiger, whose existence in thewild state depends on his ferocity, the adrenals aretwice the size of the thyroid, whereas in man, thethyroid is large and the adrenal small. Therelationship is obvious.

Q: Is all this a mere possibility, or is it allinevitable?

Page 87: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A: That is something I cannot answer. It is up toyou on Earth to decide whether all this stays in therealm of possibility,or whether you turn it intoreality.

Man has free will. No one can tell him what hemust do.

The only thing I can say is that these will be theconsequences. Do not do as the sorcerer'sapprentice did, not knowing what he was toyingwith.

Men are letting off bombs, not realising that theireffects are not always immediate. It is like thesaturation point in chemistry; one can keepputting drops into a liquid without anythinghappening; then, suddenly the critical point isreached and the whole solution changes. Fromthen on, it is impossible to control the reaction.

Persistent radioactivity in the upper layers of theatmosphere produces the same effect. No one hasgone high enough up from the Earth to measureand observe what is happening. If you could haveknown Earth's luminosity before, seen fromoutside, and could observe it now, you would seea difference. The radioactive dust which stays inthe stratosphere already gives rise to fear for thefuture of men.

If bomb tests continue, one day war will be thrustupon you, bringing with it increased radioactivity.

Page 88: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Let Earth's scientists explode bombs for anotherfifteen years and you will see the result of theirmadness. It will be too late. If anyone couldcalculate the effect of two hundred hydrogenbombs upon the uppermost layer of theionosphere, he would want to shout from thehousetops to put an end to this folly.

Unhappily, my friend, Earth is in the hands ofraving lunatics; they are unbalanced enough toaccuse us of lying if we tell the truth. Evil mustcome, but woe to him who commits it. His fate issealed. He should not imagine that he will not becalled to account for lives he has sacrificed to oneinterest or another. We all expect a day ofreckoning, when we shall be called upon toaccount for the gifts that the Creator gave us.

The good need not worry, because God will knowhow to deliver them in the hour of peril. The justwill not suffer for the sinner. This only happensonce, and it happened a long time ago. If it wereso decided, we ourselves could evacuate Earthand remove the worthy from it. We havethousands of saucers, each one capable ofcarrying thousands of people. However, wecannot intervene unless this be decided from onHigh, when we would be told whom to deliverfrom this hell. Rest assured that the just shall notbe forsaken, because unseen eyes watch over thislittle planet and they know full well who actswithout evil intent.

Page 89: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Pick up your Bible, and read how Lot wasdelivered from Sodom when it was about to bedestroyed, and see the parallel. Read, also, howEnoch and Elijah were carried up in a chariot offire. There is therefore no difficulty at all aboutthis, and if we were to receive such an order wewould carry it out to the full.

Furthermore, if it were decided from on High thatEarth ought to be destroyed we would trust in thewisdom of this decision and carry out the orderswithout hesitation. We would never questionthem. We would do as Abraham did, when he wasready to sacrifice his son to do the will of God.We could, in a second, raze this planet and leavenothing alive on its surface. The planet would besacrificed in the twinkling of an eye.

We have the means and we know how to usethem. If Earth, after only a century of scientificprogress, can develop so great a destructivepower, how much greater must ours be; for at atime when Earth's people had not even attained toknowledge of mathematics, we were alreadymaking interplanetary voyages, with cosmicenergy for propulsion.

Q: But could this happen? Would anyone becapable of ordering our destruction?

A: Perfectly well. It is not right that man's follyshould endanger the stability of the planetarysystem and destroy the lives of others far away.

Page 90: My Contact with Flying Saucers

The entry of a new Sun into our system will beless dangerous than the explosion of the Earth'shydrogen cover. It would wreak havoc on severalinhabited planets. The unbalance of forces wouldbe fatal to many, if it happened suddenly. Thenthere would only be one preventive measure;destruction of all living matter of Earth. It wouldbe rendered sterile in a matter of seconds. However, I am not in a position to make decisionsof such magnitude, nor, for that matter, is anyinhabitant of any planet.

The time has come for scientists to stop and think, for man to cease thinking of himself as the Lordof Creation and come down from the pedestal hisvanity has put him on, and realise that as he hasbeen in the habit of oppressing the weak, the timecould well come when someone stronger shallsilence him.

The conquest of other planets and the subjugationof their inhabitants has already been mooted. Thisis the height of human impertinence. It would alsobe suicide. We would like to draw the attention ofthese people to the chapter of Isaiah which readsas follows: "How thou art fallen from Heaven, OLucifer, sun of the morning For thou hast said inthine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exaltmy throne above the stars of God. I will sit alsoupon the Mount of the Congregation in the sidesof the North. I will ascend above the heights of theclouds, I will be like the most High. Yet thou shaltbe brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit"

Page 91: My Contact with Flying Saucers

(Isaiah I: 14: xii-xv). We could also remind youof what happened to the men of Babel who triedto reach the Heavens with their tower. Today thistower again threatens the Heavens, and isrepresented by Earthly science; let us hope therewill be no need for us to knock it down.

So long as men waged their petty wars ofconquest, we tolerated it all. We merely kept ourdistance, avoiding further contact with those whocould not understand us. Now man constitutes aserious risk for everybody, and tomorrow it maybe worse.

I do not know how all this will end; I do not evenknow whether men will mend their ways, and farless whether a superior intelligence will go ontolerating them much longer, or will resolve toact. I am a being of very limited attainment and itis not within my grasp to say what should be thefate of Earthly things. But it is time for man tostop and think. A little thought costs nothing.

Enough of this folly. Away with these crimes. Hissalvation is our salvation, may he not force us toan act of desperation; may he not lead us into evil.May he not bring us to the violence which we sothoroughly condemn and which we wouldeternally rue. Let him live and allow us to live.

We know your affairs better than you know themyourselves; we know when the war leaders meetand what they plan. We are present at your

Page 92: My Contact with Flying Saucers

cabinet meetings; we know the hypocrisy withwhich they exchange platitudes; we read theirmotives. Rest assured that we would act beforethey endangered us. We have orders to defendourselves.

We have done everything possible to show thatthere are powers superior to those on Earth; wewished to show men that the possession of powerdoes not give rein to violence and that we have nodesire to seize the planet. We have flown high, low, singly and in formation. We have performedaerobatics over cities, air bases, fortifications. Ipersonally received an order to move in against anarmed aircraft which was rash enough to open fireagainst my craft. But nothing convinces men onEarth…..

Let him continue along the atomic road he isfollowing. One day the end must come.

Someone, either we, or man himself will press abutton to end the story of a humanity whichpreferred to die rather than to live happily inaccordance with the laws of God.

LIFE ON OTHER WORLDS

Q: Are all the planets inhabited?

A: Some are and some are not. In our system thefollowing are inhabited: Mercury, Venus, Earth,

Page 93: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Mars, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Jupiter andSaturn are not inhabited, as they have noatmosphere. Jupiter has one, but we cannotconsider it as such, as it has virtually no depth, and Saturn has none at all. It is a sphere of lowdensity, almost entirely composed of heavy gases, with a small solid centre. It is a world information. As it solidifies it will contract, liberating the elements that will eventually formits atmosphere. It could he that the entry ofanother Sun into our system will bring about a"cracking" process, by which the denser elementswill be precipitated.

Jupiter, also, is a new body which recentlydeveloped a rarefied atmosphere.

However, it is still unsuitable for life.

As these bodies become more dense they willmove closer to the gravitational center of oursystem, in view of the fact that their diametersdecrease and their density increases. They willthus be increasingly subject to attraction, anddecreasingly subject to repulsion. However, manyof Jupiter's and Saturn's satellites are inhabited.

Q: But can Mercury support life, when it is sonear the Sun?

A: Certainly. Its great etheric mass filters the raysof the Sun. Bear in mind that whereas Earth'setheric covering extends a mere 250,000 miles,

Page 94: My Contact with Flying Saucers

Mercury's extends 390,000 miles.

God-or Nature, whichever you like to say-coversbodies to keep out cold, but in our case theopposite takes place, the greater the heat, thegreater the covering. If you calculate the speed ofsolar rays in space as I showed you by checkingthe difference between the luminosity of the risingSun and the Sun at zenith, with the equatorialradius of the Earth as a base, you will see thatMercury, subject to intenser radiation, has beengiven an etheric covering exactly large enough tofilter these rays to a point where they fill into thevisible spectrum on reaching the surface of theplanet.

From the calculation we made together you sawthat the farther bodies are from the Sun, the lesscovering they have, until we come to Saturn, which has none at all. Up to that point the etherand atmosphere are there to filter the rays of theSun. From Saturn outwards, however, the planetsagain acquire an etheric cover on an increasingscale, no longer with the object of filtering theSun's rays, but to produce a positive reaction tothem, so as to provide sufficient heat to maintainlife. So the atmospheric and etheric compositionsof these planets are not the same as those ofplanets on this side of Saturn.

The amount of diffused light is much greater thanon Earth. Their atmosphere, though rarefied, is agood conductor of heat, which may seem absurd

Page 95: My Contact with Flying Saucers

to you.

Q: I find it hard to see how a distant planet canhave an atmosphere sensitive to the rays of theSun, in view of the tiny fraction of light theyreceive.

A: There are many kinds of light. Its origin canalso be chemical. Certain species of vegetationemit light under bacteriological action. Insectsproduce quite a strong light by utilising their owninternal enzyme reactions. You can make coldlight by electrical discharges through gas.

Why then deny that Nature has other methods ofgiving life to a planet? Put an electric chargethrough a tube of hydrogen and it will produce abluish light; mix other gases with the hydrogenand you will obtain other kinds of light.

What more spectacular demonstration could onewish for than that which takes places when onemixes a small quantity of chlorine with water, andthen subjects the mixture to a ray of light. Thiswill give rise to a violent explosion and emissionof light and heat.

If similar reactions were produced within theatmosphere of the planets, avery small ray of lightcould produce a tremendous reaction with vastmagnetic storms.

Q: Have the beings on these planets a material

Page 96: My Contact with Flying Saucers

form?

A: What do you expect them to be made of? Theycannot be made of energy because only spirit isenergy.

Q: But is our constitution very different from thatof the people of other planets?

A: There are differences, but the Human form isNature's chosen form. The metablism of a manfrom Pluto is not precisely the same as that of aninhabitant of Mercury. Nevertheless one can visitthe other and remain alive for a long period. Afish lives in a dense medium, but can keep itselfalive for a certain time by breathing air. But thedifference between Pluto's and Mercury'satmospheres is not nearly as great as that betweenair and water, so one could stay alive a long time.

Q: But has gravity no effect?

A: None. Gravity is an illusion, like others youentertain. We discussed how gravity is acombination of phenomena, wherein an importantpart is played by the atmospheric covering whichis responsible for differences in density. But wealso came to the conclusion that all inhabitedplanets have an atmosphere, so the difference is asmall one. All have warmth, too, either by solarradiation or by chemical reaction.

The principal factor in gravity is the vertical

Page 97: My Contact with Flying Saucers

component of magnetism, but the differencebetween one planet and another is insufficient toprevent interchange between people of differentplanets.

Q: As regards appearance, what are the chiefdifferences between the people of the variousplanets?

A: We cannot say, for example, that the people ofMercury are tall or short. There are all sorts, asyou have pigmies. However, their maximumstature is 5 ft. 10 in. They are strong, dark, intelligent, energetic and active, with small eyes,no beards, low foreheads, well made noses. OnVenus they reach 6 ft. They belong to variousraces, predominantly a fair type. Their bodies arewell made, but they are the most like Earthpeople, both in appearance and in spirit. They areenergetic, talkative, kindly, and above all, spiritually minded.

On Mars there are two root races; one fair and onedark. The fair race is the most tractable andgentle. The dark race is composed of people whoare short of stature and of a lively disposition. They are the gayest in the planetary system. Thereis no life on Jupiter, only on its satellites. Butthere is a great variety of life on these heavenlybodies. There are all sizes, from men of 7 ft.4in.down to Lilliputian beings. But we all live in thesame family. The little people are in the majority.

Page 98: My Contact with Flying Saucers

There is no life on Saturn either. Due to its lack ofatmosphere, its surface will be riddled withmeteorites. Two of its satellites are inhabited. There the men are intelligent and kind. They havetheir space crafts, but they do not use them much. For you these beings would be quite inexplicablebecause they never die. They possess what onemight call the body of resurrection. They nevercommit any sin, yet they are material beings. They are tall, with large magnetic eyes. Not evenwe can fathom all their wisdom, they areenigmatic.

On Uranus and Neptune the inhabitants are verysimilar. They are tall and muscular, well built, with large eyes and very well developed heads.Organically they function in a different way fromthe inhabitants of other planets. They do not feedon heavy substances as we do, but on liquids orgases, and their blood is different.

On Pluto life is very similar to that on Earth. Thepeople are identical in nearly everything. But notwithstanding their advanced intelligence, theyincline to evil and neglect God. They allow theirbaser instincts to rule them. They learned to travelthough space a long time ago. They do not waramong themselves-war, alas, only exists on Earth. But they are dangerous beings, and any instancesof saucers doing harm to people on Earth can beattributed to them.

The only reason they do not harm any other

Page 99: My Contact with Flying Saucers

inhabitants of the system is because they knowthat these other beings are more evolved, and anyattempt at conquest would be fatal. But their fateis sealed.

The people of Earth have committed manymisdeeds, and this planet is regarded as the centreof evil, but its inhabitants are yet in their infancy, and in the dawn of their intelligent life, with theexception of a small elite who have settled downhere as teachers. For this reason, God will punishhumanity, but with moderation, without expellingthis planet from the solar system. Those whocannot adjust themselves to the higher order ofthings will be evacuated from the planet, leavingit in the possession of others who will be like theinhabitants of the satellites of Saturn. As forPluto, justice will take its full course. Evil will notbe allowed to continue indefinitely. Thetransgression of law is not a natural phenomenon, because if it were a basic condition for theevolution of individuals of various worlds, then itwould itself become a law. It is absurd to thinkthat evil should itself be a law. There are only twotenets that can claim immortality on any inhabitedworld, these are love of God and love of one'sneighbour. Anything that departs from thesetenets is a transgression. The in-habitants of Plutowere fully aware of divine laws, but chose toignore them. They became prey to sexual pleasureand as a direct result of this laid themselves opento other sins such as idolatry, sodomy, rebellion

Page 100: My Contact with Flying Saucers

and disrespect for the physical integrity of others, and so fell under the whole sway of evil. It is likean avalanche, which can start off with the fall of asmall stone, and finish up as a complete landslide.

For this reason, Pluto will be torn away from thissystem, and 'will wander towards the nearestconstellation. Its inhabitants will suffer untoldhorror and will not be able to escape. They will bedegraded to the state of cave men under atrociousconditions. The splendour of their cities, theirrapid transport systems, brilliant lighting andcommunications and, in fact, all that a highlyintelligent humanity can attain to throughmillennia of constant progress, beyond yourimagination, will be written off and crumble intoruin like historical Babylon, with its hanginggardens.

Then our system 'will return to normal and weshall become as one large family, all under thebanner of love.

Q: As far as I can gather from your statements,Earth will be left with a Humanity similar to theinhabitants of Saturn's satellites. Does this meanHuman beings will be changed?

A: This is exactly what I wanted to convey.Human beings have gone as far as they can go.Their intelligence cannot go beyond the normalsenses.

Page 101: My Contact with Flying Saucers

You talk in terms of biological evolution, but letus see if this is true or not. There should be a pari-passu development between intelligence and thephysical body if this theory were true. Whereasintelligence has reached a high stage ofdevelopment, the body has been attacked bystrange diseases which are on the increase. Wethus get a picture of mental developmentaccompanied by physical atrophy.

The Human Race has reached a point in itsdevelopment where it should disappear. Races arelike men with their infancy and adolescence, maturity, old age and death. The physical body asit is would not give intelligence very much moreroom for development. Earthly science andtechniques will reach such an advanced stage thatthe brain will no longer be able to cope with theproblems involved, which may have to be done bymachines. Does this imply that inanimatemachinery is superior to spirit? Not at all. But thisrequires the appearance of a new race on Earth, composed of beings with sufficient brain power tograsp all the increasingly complex problemsassociated with progress. These bodies wouldhave the capacity to take a further step along thepath to wisdom.

How can you talk of indefinite progress when youare bound to a body of limited capacity and of alow order. It is wrong to say that Nature does notprogress by sudden leaps. Its progress is basedalmost entirely on this, as, for example, in the

Page 102: My Contact with Flying Saucers

chemical combinations of carbon and hydrogen.Knowledge is garnered until, at a given instant, there is an integral transformation of brain andbody.

If one adds an atom of hydrogen to an atom ofoxygen, the result is still a gas, but if a furtheratom of hydrogen is added, there is a suddentransformation and they cease to be gases and turninto liquid. The same thing happens in the case ofcarbon and hydrogen. CH2 is a gas, and we cango on adding to either element without anythinghappening until we get to C2H4 when there is asudden transformation and the gas changes itscharacteristics radically. There was no gradualchange in the gas, but it preserved itscharacteristics until sufficient elements wereadded to bring about the sudden transformation.

In life the process is the same. Many races areburied in the life cycle of a planer. Earthlyscience, believing in natural selection, sought forthe links in the chain of evolution. It did not findthem, and never will find them, because they donot exist. It finds many things which are not links, which proves their non-existence. It is strange thatall races have left their traces on Earth, exceptthose that constituted the links in the evolutionarychain. Why should Nature have played such atrick to hide them if everything that exists is forman's enlightenment? This, therefore, is not whathappens.

Page 103: My Contact with Flying Saucers

When a race is no longer capable of keeping upthe struggle against constantly changing climateand circumstance, then the race disappears likeany other living thing. If a sun has its old age anddisintegration, then why should this not also applyto a race?

What is impossible for man is easy for God. Hecan cause a planet to be inhabited in a moment.

Q: But how can a planet come to be inhabited ifall its people have perished?

A: God performs an act of resurrection.

Q: How?

A: Spirit acts on matter and fashions it to its will.In seances where such super-physical phenomenaare commonplace, the spirit manipulates theectoplasm of a passive agent and moulds from it abody which is visible to the living. Its organism isreal and its activity can be controlled. It has all theorgans that a normal individual has. Aftermanifestation the ectoplasm is generallyreabsorbed by the passive agent, and disappears. However, it would only need an act of will on itspart to continue living a life of its own. In manyof these cases of manifestation, hairs and pieces ofclothing have been left and preserved intact. Ifsuch fragments can remain in existence, there isno reason why a whole body should not remain. Itwould only have to sever its connection with the

Page 104: My Contact with Flying Saucers

passive agent.

If God were to ordain that a new race shouldpopulate the Earth, the spirits could manipulatethe ectoplasm of the Earth itself and create bodiesfrom it, far superior to those of the present race. These new beings would have fantastic bodies andbrains. This is the act of resurrection I spoke of. Ifordinary spirits of a lower order can mould a bodyin accordance with their will, how much greaterthen would be the power of God, should Hedecide to repopulate the Earth?

Q: Does this mean to say that the present racecame into being in this way?

A: There is no doubt about it. Adam was in factmoulded from the dust of the Earth, that is to say, from its ectoplasm. The ancient race had used upthe whole of its evolutionary energy, and therehad to be an intervention of the heavenly powerswhich created the new race. This event is veryclearly depicted in the case of Eve. God causedAdam to fall into a deep sleep, using him as thepassive supplier of ectoplasm, and the body ofEve was moulded from this. She was, indeed, flesh of Adam's flesh, and the Biblical narrator iscorrect when he stated that woman was mouldedfrom Adam's rib.

Q: But is not ectoplasm a by-product of thenervous system? How could it be drawn from theEarth?

Page 105: My Contact with Flying Saucers

A: Everything is drawn from the Earth.Vegetables also have their ectoplasm and theirroots draw it up from the soil. If any power werecapable of forming a new body, surely it woulddraw the necessary elements for it from theground. It would be a slight on the powers of theSupreme Spirit to think that He who made mattershould not also have the power to makeectoplasm.

Q: If there were an atomic disaster, and the planetbecame uninhabitable, how could the spirit mouldnew bodies that could keep alive?

A: Life could well be impossible for the body as itis now, but on the other hand it could be ideal forother bodies. God creates types of beings to suitthe medium in which they are placed. Earthwormslive in the same world as man, but the soil is theirideal medium; fish live in water; the amphibiancan live in air or water; the eagle prefers heightswhere the atmosphere is rarefied.

If life now manifests itself in various forms, doyou think Nature has run through her repertoireand exhausted her possibilities on Earth? A lionwould die in the Arctic, whereas a bear is quitehappy there. Whether the Earth is covered withice, whether it becomes too hot, whether it isradioactive or not, Nature will in every casedevise an appropriate life form. And if Nature, with this wonderful power of creation, weresupplemented by a spiritual power, what marvels

Page 106: My Contact with Flying Saucers

could it not perform?

Man will have to disappear from the face of theEarth, and Homo Sapiens will be replaced byspiritual man, so long as he allows Nature toeffect this transformation quietly on her own. When the first man of the present race, who wasthe resurrection of a dying race, made hisappearance on the planet, there were still somemen of the old race left who were dying off. Therewas no total disappearance of living beings fromthe planet. However, Homo Sapiens appears to bein a hurry to get to the end of his career and todeprive Nature of its right to put an end to him byexhaustion. Perhaps it is just because he is bent onself-destruction.

FAREWELL!

We met at the Roosevelt station in Sao Paulo. Tobegin with we continued our discussion onvarious scientific subjects, and later talked aboutethics and religion. Then he said to me: "Now Iam going. If you wish to see me again, meet meon Angatuba Avenue between November 14thand 17th, 1956. Should there be any hitch fromyour side, I will see you again in 1959 if you arestill here. Once again I shall keep my word.

"I should like you to always remember one thing,do not attach too much importance to all thescientific things we have talked about. Science is

Page 107: My Contact with Flying Saucers

only a means of giving us certain facilities, and ofteaching us how to use the forces of Nature. Seekthat science which will bring happiness to all, andabove all seek God because only He has meaningin the Universe. Love is the true science.

"What shall it avail man if he knows all things andall the secrets of the Universe, if he should losehis soul? Science is like a law, it is only beneficialwhen it guarantees the tights of man, and when itprotects, shelters and serves him. If it loses itsprotective character and becomes oppressive, thenit is time it was abolished and replaced byanother. Such laws cannot and should not berespected.

It is like the salt that Christ referred to, if the saltshould lose its savour and its strength, it should becast away. Science exists so that man may livewell and that there should be an abundance of allthings. But if this science, instead of being a giftof God, should become a source of destruction tothe Human Race, then it should be put aside.

A man can live without science, enjoying all thethings that Nature provides; but with no spirit ofcompassion and respect for the lives of others, lifeon Earth would be inexorably destroyed. Goddoes not destroy anyone, but man with the aid ofscience could destroy himself and his fellows.

"Do not seek the salvation of your soul throughscience. If this were a means of spiritual progress,

Page 108: My Contact with Flying Saucers

on this false basis, men would have arrived in helllong ago. The possession of scientific knowledgehas no significance. Without it many could lead aspiritual life, but with it millions will meetnothing but affliction. Of what use is knowledgethat used a whole people as guinea pigs, killingthousands, destroying innocent people andbringing grief to those Japanese cities whosenames remain as milestones on the road todestruction.

"It is to no avail. All of us who travel throughspace, men from different planets, are movedwhen we see those cities and never tire of sayingthat here was where the first blow of brute powerstruck the Earth and its inhabitants.

"Here are the paths which lead to Armageddon. Here Christian people crucify Jesus again andproclaim the supremacy of the Beast who is torule the Earth. It is a pity that Human beings haveinsufficient scientific knowledge to dominate allNature, and not be as poor as they are now. Sincescience is a great evil for them, it would be betterto live without it, because then they would at leastlive.

"It is preferable to live in ignorance and allowothers to live than for all to be drowned as a resultof a little knowledge.

"They worship Christ in vain and fruitlessly payhomage to Him. The only thing that He wishes is

Page 109: My Contact with Flying Saucers

that they should love one another. Man should notpray so much with pretty words; God is notmoved by rhetoric. Rather should they make aconstant prayer of their own lives and their lovefor their neighbour.

"There is yet time to save the world, anopportunity is always given to him that repents. There is no criminal who cannot be pardoned. Ifthe crime is great, God's love is greater still. Ifman needed time to be pardoned, God could makea fraction of a second into an eternity. Divine actsare not subordinate to time and space. This is thereason why some criminals, in a moment ofrepentance, become saints and martyrs. For aninstant they departed from the ways of evil withall the power of their heart, and by divine actionthis second's repentance was made permanent.

"If God cares so much for a single soul, should Henot care that much more for humanity? Thereforepay more attention to spiritual things and usescience as a means of explaining them.

"I know that you will refuse to tell others aboutthe meetings we have had, but one day you willhave to do so by force of circumstance. Do notimagine, however, that when you do tell others, they will take much notice. Many have spokenwithout any apparent result, and the only rewardyou should expect is something which nobody cantake away, because it exists within your heartalone. But there may be someone unknown to you

Page 110: My Contact with Flying Saucers

to whom your work will be of great value.

"And now, farewell! I shall take with me somebooks in order to study Earthly science a littlemore. When I return I will do my best to bringyou something in writing about our science andour ethics. Until that time we shall be linked inthought."

"Supposing I am not here when you come back," Iasked him.

"It would perhaps be better if you were not here, because then you would be somewhere else whereit would be easier for us to make contact. But donot leave without telling your friends that lifeextends through the infinities of space fromsphere to sphere and from world to world, andthat beyond death there is hope and consolation.Tell them that wherever there is spirit, God willhave prepared a vehicle for it. In life, swans aremute, but they never depart without a song."

He gave me his hand and took leave of me again.I would like to have followed him to the placewhere he was to board his saucer, but he told me:"Why follow me? Do not come with me. Mysaucer is quite close and it would not be pleasantfor you to see the circumstances in which I leave;you would be upset. There is always a moment ofseparation and before I got into the saucer youwould no longer be able to see me. May God bewith you."

Page 111: My Contact with Flying Saucers

I saw him vanish round a corner. I had a strongdesire to follow him at any cost, but decided thatthis would be disloyal to someone who had shownsuch friendliness to me.
