Customer benefits•ImprovedoperationalflexibilityOperational flexibilitywithonlineswitchingbetween M and XL modes
•Increasedperformanceupto456MWpower outputandand59.8%efficiencyincombined cycleoperation
•ReducedmaintenancecostsInspectioninterval extendedupto12,000operatinghours
teChniCal featuresFlexible mode switching, the perfect response tofluctuatingmarketdemand• Whenmarketdemandishigh, plantoperators caninstantlyswitchtotheMmodeformaximum powerandefficiency.
• Whendemandislower, operatorscanswitchto the XL mode with a temperature drop that reduces the thermal loading on components.
• TheXLmodetranslatesintoanextensionofthe maintenanceintervalby12,000operatinghours, therebyreducingmaintenancecosts.
• The GT26 MXL2 Upgrade brings class-leading flexibility, openingupnewrevenueopportunities to plant operators meeting increasing grid challenges.
LOW PRESSURE TURBINE
BasedonproventechnologysharedwiththelatestGT26rating2011,allfourstagesoftheLPT,includingtheheatshields,havebeenredesigned:• 3Dairfoilprofilingwasappliedtoallstagestoachieve highestaerodynamicefficiency, andtheflowpathat the turbine outlet is increased
• Tosupporttheincreasedturbineinlettemperature whenoperatinginMmode,thecomponentsprotection bythermalbarriercoatinghasbeenenhanced.
• Optimisedpartcount:Loweringthevanepartcountin theLPTvanerows1and2reducestherequiredcooling air,therebyincreasingtheoverallturbineefficiency.
• Thecoolingschemesofallcomponentshavealsobeen optimised.
• Reducedlosses:ImprovedshrouddesignofLPTblades andvanesleadstoareductioninover-tipleakages enhancingtheaerodynamicturbineefficiency.
