CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE
Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS
Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-
179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.
Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the
deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided.
The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly
care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may
be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.
Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in
advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space
limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed
Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments
will be refunded.

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE
Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between
CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE
childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would
like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service
your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must
be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

Whether you are looking to improve your reading skills or writing ability,
or need assistance with ACTS, SAT or GED test prep, let our
SKIESUnlimited instructor help you! Cost is $120 for four 2 hour
sessions. SKIESUnlimited Academic Tutoring offers private or small
group sessions K-12 (maximum of 2 students with 3 year age range) on
a 4-week, 2 hour session in the month of June, July or August. Please

to sign up for SKIESUnlimited programs.

HIRED! APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: REGISTRATION
The Pippin Youth Center’s HIRED! is an apprenticeship program offered
through the CYS Services that is designed to meet the workforce-
preparation and secondary education needs of eligible youth. HIRED! is
FREE and open to registered youth in grades 9-12. Must be able to work
15 hours per week to earn $500 and must register by August 16. The
Pippin Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625 Young Street.

Daugherty Bowling Center is offering the 2013 Summer Fun Bowling
Special Now – August 30, Monday thru Friday, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Youth ages 16 yrs. and under will receive 2 FREE games of bowling per
day! (Shoe rental regular rate). Make sure to register for a prize drawing

The Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting the Senior Tour, with a 9:00 am
shot gun start. Cost is $30 for Annual Green Fees Patron (AGFP)
members and $35 per non-AGFP, includes green fee, cart, range
practice and breakfast. Tour is open to the public ages 50 yrs. and older.

2013 THESE COLORS DON’T RUN 5K/10K
Davidson Fitness Center kicks off your Independence Day with “These
Colors Don’t Run” a 5K/10K Color Run. Both runs start at 7:00 am at
Davidson Fitness Center. Advance registration cost is $15 per person
and includes a commemorative T-shirt. Advance registration must be
done by July 1 at 8:00 pm at the Davidson Fitness Center or online at
www.splitmastertiming.com. Day of registration at DFC is $25 and you
must be registered by 6:40am sharp! Run is open to the public.

MWR INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
A family-friendly Independence Day Celebration hosted by Fort Leonard
Wood and Family & MWR will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Join
family, friends and service members from all branches to celebrate our
country’s birthday as we gather to enjoy this exciting red-white-and-blue
extravaganza.
The celebration starts at 3:00 pm on Gammon Field, on Iowa Ave with a
Car Show, petting zoo, pony rides, music by “Frago Rock” and much
more. The excitement continues to heat up with the Salute to the Union at
7:00 pm and the U.S. Army Soldier Show at 7:30 pm. The grand finale,
the area’s largest firework display, will follow the Soldier Show and light
up the sky with a blaze of glory. The car show, activities and fireworks are
FREE and open to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Event is festival seating; please bring your lawn chairs. For the safety and
security of our Service Members and Families - no coolers, pets and

What better way to show your support to our Military on Independence
Day than by showcasing your ride for all to enjoy at the Family & MWR
July 4th Car Show! Categories: cars, trucks & motorcycle. Top vehicles
in each category will be chosen by our Service men & women and the
FLW community.
Car show is on Thursday July 4 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Gammon
Field, Iowa Ave, Fort Leonard Wood as part of our Independence Day
Celebration. Registration is FREE and open to the public. Register online

Schedule:
1 pm – 2:30 pm: Time to get vehicles in and parked.
All entries must be parked by 2:30 pm.
3 pm – 5 pm: Judging and spectators time to view entries.

6 pm – 6:30 pm: Time for entries to safely exit the field.
NOTE: After 6:30 pm, any vehicles left in the field will not be able to exit
until all activities are complete and everyone has left the field.

U.S. ARMY SOLDIER SHOW
Family and MWR present the 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show. The
entertainment for the Soldiers by the Soldiers is back once again to
entertain our Soldiers and families on July 4th. The 90-minute song-and-
dance production is designed to accentuate the strengths and resiliency
of Soldiers and military Families through modern songs, current hits,
vibrant costuming, exciting choreography and spectacular visuals. This
year’s theme “Ready and Resilient: At Your Service” explores what it
means to be Ready and Resilient in today's Army - as a Soldier, Spouse,
Family member, Survivor, Retiree and Civilian. 2013 celebrates the 30th
anniversary of the modern-day Soldier Show, which began in 1984. The
U. S Army Soldier Show will take place at Gammon Field at 7:30 pm.
Show is FREE and open to the public followed by the area’s largest

RED, WHITE, & BLUE GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a Red, White & Blue Golf
Tournament in celebration of Independence Day; shot gun beginning at
9:00 am with breakfast served at 8:30. Tournament is a two person
scramble, teams will tee off of red tees, white tees, and
blue tees. Each set of tees will be using different
formats. If sufficient teams enter different flights will be
made to score. Cost to join is $30 for Annual Green Fee
Patrons (AGFP) $35 for non-AGFP; cost includes golf,
green fees, cart, breakfast & gift certificates.

STARS AND STRIPES SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
Davidson Fitness Center is hosting Stars and
Stripes Softball Tournament beginning at 9:00 am
at Sports Complex B. Cost is $125 per team.

Registration will begin at 10:00 am. Cost is $10 adults / $5 youth, enter

FREE KINDERMUSIK SING & PLAY/ WIGGLE & GROW
SKIESUnlimited will be offering Kindermusik Sing & Play/ Wiggle & Grow
for ages 0 – 3 years at no cost. Get ready to sing, play and move with
your little one in this high energy music class focusing on your child’s
beginning movements, building the muscles your child needs to walk,
and vocal development, to help to nurture your child’s speaking and
singing voice. Parents are required to participate. Program is open to

COMMANDER’S GOLF SCRAMBLE
The Commander’s Golf Scramble will be hosted by
the Piney Valley Golf Course with a 12:00 pm shotgun
start. Scramble consists of a 4 person team; cost is $30
for Advanced Green Fee Patrons (AGFP) or $35 for non
AGFP’s; includes greens fees, cart and range practice from 11:00 am –
12:00 pm. Bring your friends, co-workers or battle buddies for a great
afternoon of golfing. Food and beverages are provided at each event.

BASS TOURNAMENT
The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) will be hosting their
annual Bass Tournament starting at 7:30 pm, weigh-in is at 1:00 am.
Entry fee per boat is $40 and an optional $10 fee for Big Bass. Each
boat must have a DOD authorized ID Card holder. Stop by the Outdoor
Adventure Center or LORA for entry forms/rules. Open to the public.

ARMY TEN MILER TIME TRIALS
Active Duty Service Members are welcome to come out and qualify during
the time trials for the Fort Leonard Wood Army Ten Miler Team. The
fastest 6 runners will be part of the FLW Team in the Active Duty Mixed
(men and women) category. Representatives will fly to Washington D.C.
to compete in this year’s Army Ten Miler – entry fee, airline ticket, hotel
room and per diem will be paid for by DFMWR. Trials are FREE.

Gather great information about Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding
community at the Newcomer’s Orientation from 8:30 am-12:00 am at the

(CDC) but space is limited so make your reservations early. Child Care

NIGHT GOLF
The most fun you can have on the course after dark! Piney Valley Golf
Course hosts Night Golf; enjoy golfing at night with glow in the dark golf
balls and chemical lights beginning at 6:00 pm. Cost is $30 per person for
Annual Green Fee Patrons (AGFP) / $35 per person, non AGFPs, meal
included. Each team will play 9 holes in daylight and then 8 holes after
dark. Enjoy dinner at the turn. Prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd place
and for most “off-the-wall” dressed team. Night golf is open to the public
and limited to 64 people; rental clubs are available, so sign up early! The

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an
educational firearm class from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
specifically for women. The course will teach women
how to handle and fire a gun. Participants will learn
the different types of guns, what they are used for,
how to use them, and how to clean them. The course also includes firing
a few different types of guns on the range. Cost is $20 per person, 18yrs
and older, and includes lunch and ammo. Registration must be made one

The movie launches at 8:30 pm and will take place
at the Fort Leonard Wood Rec Plex , Wallace Pool.

are free. Open to all buccaneers, lads and lassies. Bring your own
blanket and chairs. No pets allowed. No show if rough seas or high

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS
The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons
Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including
weapons qualification on the range. Class is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Cost is
$15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo ID,
eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver
(plus minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All
handguns must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public
21 yrs. and older. Interested patrons must be registered the day prior to
each class at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW

Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for
authorized activities such as hunting, dog training activities or
marksmanship events, are required to register weapons. Privately owned
weapons can be registered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor’s Center, Building 100.

Back by popular demand! Join us for Dueling Pianos, a night of music
and laughter at this all request interactive show. Show will take place at
the Pershing Community Center. Doors open at 7:15 pm for early entry
ticket holders and 7:30 pm for day of purchase ticket holders. Show
begins 8:00 pm. $10 early entry tickets are available at the Leisure Travel
Services office. Those with early entrance tickets will be seated first to
choose their seats, those without can enter at 7:30 pm General

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an
educational firearm class from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
specifically for women. The course will teach women
how to handle and fire a gun. Participants will learn

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS
The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons
Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including
weapons qualification on the range. Class is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Cost is
$15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo ID, eye
and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus
minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns
must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public 21 yrs.

CYS Services offers I'm Alone, a FREE program to help prepare youth
to stay home alone. Youth will learn to increase personal safety skills,

prepare nutritious snacks, and practice good decision making.
