Mutual Solvents

We work with you in reviewing the well files, including chemical and acidizing treatment history. We look for production-chemical incompatibilities (corrosion inhibitors, biocides, scale inhibitors) and review prior solvent selections that provided unsustainable incrementalproduction. Factors such as frequent hot-oiling, fluctuation of fluid levels, plant upsets and more all come into play. Once the challenge has been defined, Weatherford formulates a stimulation program, drawing from the WETSOL mutual solvents product line.

Customize acid stimulation treatments with mutual solvents that enhance acid penetration.

In the process of increasing production with customized WETSOL systems, you’ll be reducing the need for workovers and avoiding lost production and downtime. Whether used as stand-alone treatments or pre-blended into various acid packages, WETSOL systems have an enviable track record in remediating skin damage in both hydrocarbon-bearing and water-injection wells.

Mutual solvents clean and disperse heavy hydrocarbons from formation rock surfaces. They act as non-emulsifiers to reduce surface tension and water-wet the formation. An accurate diagnosis of formation damage is vital in preparing an effective treatment program. Weatherford’s stimulation experts are highly trained and experienced in analyzing formation damage and customizing solutions.

WETSOL system applications• Pre-blended into various organic and inorganic acid packages

• Stimulation chemistry for removing water and condensate phase trapping in tight oil and gas wells

• Stimulation chemistry for breaking oil/brine emulsion blocks in reservoirs

• Prolonging time between workovers, accelerating payout

Oil Wet versus Water Wet

WETSOL 1, WETSOL 2, WETSOL 3, WETSOL AX 205 and WETSOL AX 207 are nonionic mutual solvents that contain no surfactants. These systems are compatible with virtually all formations and formation fluids. You can maximize permeability and achieve optimal production rates with a unique combination of properties in WETSOL systems that can acomplish the following:

• Water-wet formation fines

• Strip oil coatings

• Remove water blocks

• Reduce surface and interfacial tensions

• Prevent and/or break emulsions

• Reduce oil viscosity and sludging

• Maintain miscibility with other stimulation fluids

• Avoid absorption onto the formation face

• Remove damage induced by oil and water-based drilling or fracturing fluids

Symptoms of Formation Damage

• Sudden production decline not

consistent with reservoir depletion

• Injection decline

• Organic or inorganic deposition

• Fluctuation of fluid levels

Expert formation-damage diagnosis results . . . in targeted treatments for superior acid/mutual solvent performance
