Written by: Cason Ragsdale AG in Action is a mobile learning lab trailer. Margaret Elementary had the privilege of having the first trailer in Alabama visit the school. There are only four mobile trailers in the nation. The trailer allowed students to experience hands-on farming. The trailer included a hay bailing simulator with a vibrating seat . There were learning stations where students learned how to milk a cow, learned about grain, and cotton.

Writing Celebration

Written by: AJ Anderson and Cason Ragsdale Mrs. Sumerel’s second grade class held a writing celebration on October 8th. The students wrote a personal narrative and followed the writing process in order to write a final draft on a personal memory. The students used graphic organizers to help organize their thoughts. Once the paragraph was edited, the students typed their final draft in a word document. The students invited their family, friends and teachers to partake in the celebration. Each student had copies of their final draft available to be autographed.

Pumpkin Project

Written by: Jackson Steiner

This year first grade made character pumpkins based on a book they read. Each student had to read a book and choose a character from the book to decorate on a pumpkin. The students were encouraged to be creative. The students also had to write a report on the book. All of the pumpkins were displayed in the library for the month of October.

Safety Patrol in Action

Written by: AJ Anderson and Cason Ragsdale

Safety Patrol is more than just wearing a belt. Students who are chosen to be on Safety Patrol wear the belt for a reason. They are there to serve and help others. Safety Patrol opens car doors, makes sure students do not run, and walks students to class. During the month of November, Safety Patrol hosted a school wide can food drive. They distributed tubs to every classroom for the donations and have been promoting the food drive. Safety patrol has collected hundreds of cans that will be donated to area food banks. This is a time of year for us all to give back and be thankful.

Mustang of the Month Written by: Reece Carden and Sadie Westerhouse Avery Steiner was selected as Mustang of the month. She is in Ms. Hodo’s first grade class. Avery is an active 6 year old girl. Her favorite sport is gymnastics and her favorite subject is science.

Read S’more Books

Written by: Cole Roddam and Austin Tucker

On October 22nd, Margaret Elementary held a family reading night. Students and parents were able to roast marshmallows around a fire and make s’mores. Hot chocolate was given out and families were able to enjoy the snacks while listening to a story teller.

Lights, Camera, Action

Written by: Kathleen Duncan and Cole Roddam The fall choir performance was called Lights, Camera, Action. Every guest that attended the performance was treated to a bag of popcorn and a fabulous show. The show was based on songs from the movies. Some of the songs were “SpongeBob SquarePants”, “Beyond the Sea”, “Hot Chocolate” and “The Candy Man”. There were several star appearances like Shrek and Fiona, SpongeBob, Nemo and Willy Wonka. All of the choir students and choir teachers worked hard to put on a wonderful show for the school. We look forward to the next performance. Choir sign-ups for the spring will begin in January.
