OUR MUSIC VIDEO PITCH

Lily, Jess and Ellen

Why did we choose this…?!

Track:-

• We all love the actual artist!

• We feel inspired by the song but also comfortable as it is the

kind of music we normally listen to.

• We love how it links with other media texts we love- The Fault

in Our Stars film.

• We feel the narrative we will create through our video will

appeal to our target audience.

Genre:-

• Again, something we feel comfortable yet inspired by.

• This genre has strong conventions/conventional features.

We plan to use the same brand image as the actual artist, Birdy, and

her management created for her, this being:-

• Pure

• Innocent

• Emotionally raw

• Feminine

• Natural

• Talented

• Original

IS-Begins with a voicemail played over an establishing shot, the

voicemail will not actually finish but instead we will fade into the song-

this will instantly create enigmas and engage the audience.

-Will then cut to her, present day, in her bedroom. She will be

writing/performing the song. Through out the verse there will be

flashbacks- in these flashbacks we will firstly present the image of her

and him walking together in one of our chosen outdoor locations, there

will be a warm filter put over the top of the image. Gradually over this

part we will place a graphic match, eventually leading to the image

presented being just her walking alone with a more cold, muted filter

placed over the top of the image.

-We will end where we started- in her bedroom, on her bed with the

voicemail playing over the top after the track has faded out. Once the

voicemail has ended, the image will fade to black.

•We will use natural, outside locations. The main location will be her

bedroom, it will have conventional mise-en-scene- pretty, vintage

furnishings, soft warm lighting e.g. fairy lights.

•She will be playing the guitar, showcasing talent and passion for

music. It is conventional to use instruments as props.

•Editing- cuts, graphic match, vintage filters, sun flares, slow motion.

•Costume, hair and makeup will be very natural and simple- messy

buns, beachy waves, nude lipstick, pretty dresses, cable knit jumpers,

winter boots etc.

Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics.

There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals. The lyrics

are represented visually.

There is a relationship between music and visuals. The tone

and atmosphere of the visuals reflects that of the music. (Our

piece will illustrate-the meaning of the song is made clear

through the video).

Star Image.

There is frequent reference to the idea of looking and

particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.

There is often inter-textual reference.

How will our

digipak and

magazine advert

link to our video.

We will match the

mise-en-scene of

the video to that of

our digipak and

magazine advert.

Jess’ digipak and

magazine advert

will link as the

background of her

main images will be

made up of leaves,

pressed flowers and

other autumnal

looking things along

with an autumnal

looking filter.

Ellen’s digipak and magazine advert will

follow the mise-en-scene, specifically props,

presented in the video with her main themes

being vintage atlas print and polaroid pictures.

Lily’s digipak and

magazine advert

will be made up of

natural images

taken on location,

with a warm almost

sepia tone to them.

Our main location is our artists

bedroom, where we will present her

writing and performing the song- this

give the piece a very personal touch.

We will continue the personal touch

onto our digipak and magazine advert

with the fonts we plan to use;

handwritten and sketched.

We will all produce different digipaks and

magazine adverts for different artists but

because of the amount of locations we plan to

use, making links to the video for all of them

should be possible.

ANY POTENTIAL PROBLEMS/CHALLENGES?

-Weather: we may encounter harsh weather conditions such as rain, wind,

hail or snow.

-Camera problems: The camera may not work on the day for one reason or

another, therefore we have to plan back up shoots.

-Getting time off work: we all have part time jobs and it may be hard to all

get time off of work at the same time, therefore we have to plan when our

shoots are going to be well in advance.

-People in our outdoor locations- we will have to allow plenty of time to get

shots with no members of the public walking in them.

-Daylight: given the time of year we’ll be filming, daylight will be limited- we

will have to arrange our timings around this.

THANK YOU
