The video has two different scenarios happening within it, one is filmed during the day time, one at night, and he is wearing the same clothing in both screens, which makes the viewer see that it is maybe events happening earlier that day, then the same night. There is a clear contrast throughout the video; the video in the day consists of happy events, whereas the night time one shows the opposite thing happening for example, the wedding and the funeral. The camera follows him in the same way throughout the whole of the video; this is kind of giving the idea that the video is telling a story. I like how the lyrics of the song help tell the story; it makes it seem like there is something that happened during the day which made the events change in the night time.

Coldplay – Strawberry Swing

The video for Strawberry Swing is mostly animated, it appears as if it’s a chalk drawing of a superhero story, and at the end we see him as a real person, but although we see this it doesn’t seem as if it was real, but like he is just acting out the story. The camera angles don’t change much through out the video, yet it is still affective as you can see that it is telling a story. I like the idea of using pictures and animation in my video, but not using it through out the whole thing, just using it to tell parts of a story.

Chalk images changing to real life at the end of the video.

The music video also starts off with the characters and images being set up for the video, this is also giving more of an impression that its telling a story.

Contrast of the two different cities links with the lyrics – showing the place he would have taken the girl he is singing about.

I really like the way this video shows expectations vs. reality, I think it makes the video really effective, and it also works well with the lyrics of the song. Through out the video there is effective camera shots and angles used – the screen shots above flick back to each other quickly, which keeps the viewer watching the video as it makes it interesting to see what's going to happen. There are also many close ups of the artists face, showing his emotions that suit the style of the song and the video.
