Live Music FEBRUARY 5 BLACK OLIVE JAZZ—Classic Jazz Songbook Jazz vocalist, Stanford drama teacher and actress, Kay Kostopoulos brings her all-star ensemble of San Francisco jazz artists to the Atrium to perform classic songs from enduring jazz masters. An elegant singer whose voice is inspired by the golden age of jazz, Kay pays homage to the music of the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee and others. FEBRUARY 12 NANCY GILLILAND—Romantic Ballads A perfect concert to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, Nancy Gilliland uses her rich alto voice as a perfect instrument to deliver both the mood and the musical message of Gershwin, Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Ellington and other greats of the 20s, 30s and 40s. Since moving to California in 1984, Nancy has become a “fixture” in the San Francisco Bay area music scene. Audiences have responded enthusiastically to her performances on both coasts from the San Jose Jazz Festival to Birdland in New York City. FEBRUARY 19 THE SADDLE CATS—Western Swing The Saddle Cats are a western swing four-piece band that is enlivening cowboy and western music with a singular energy and drive. They celebrate the swing tradition of Bob Wills, Milton Brown and Spade Cooley with abandon, finesse and exuberant spirits. FEBRUARY 26 THE MIGHTY FINES—New Orleans Good-Time Music San Francisco’s Macy Blackman and the Mighty Fines play New Orleans music that’s sure to set your hips swinging and your feet shuffling...The Mighty Fines are a talented bunch, and they really can do it all, bringing 1950’s New Orleans R&B songs and soul blues items of similar vintage that will take you right to the heart of Mardi Gras!
