Beethoven’s Seven Variations on a Theme from Magic Flute by Mozart will also be performed to celebrate Beethoven’s 250 Birthday in 2020. FEBRUARY 11 REN GEISICK with JON DRYDEN—Classic Love Songs Ren Geisick isn’t a typical jazz singer. Equally influenced by Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, and Patsy Cline, her music flows seamlessly, from the soulful delivery of a jazz ballad to the carefree lilt of an American folk song. Geisick was surrounded by emotionally rich vocal music from an early age and it shows in her heartfelt delivery. She will present classic love songs in this concert with her long-time pianist Jon Dryden. FEBRUARY 18 41st STREET ENSEMBLE—Classical/Jazz Hybrid The 41st Street Quartet is a chamber jazz ensemble that uses unique instrumentation to combine elements of jazz and classical music with flute, saxophone, violin, harp, and cello. The quartet’s repertoire is a mixture of original compositions and arrangements of popular works by other composers. The result is an experience that is contemplative, joyful and visual. FEBRUARY 25 PARLEZ-VOUS JAZZ—The Music of New Orleans Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), is the final day of indulgence before the fasting season of Lent, and the day is celebrated most famously in New Orleans with street parades, rich foods, traditional jazz, and lots of excesses.
