Main image
The main image relates to a feature in the magazine. The Courteeners are a band typically featured in Q. They way they are dressed indicates to the reader what kind of music they play as they are slightly scruffy, dressed in jeans and t shirts. A look associated with indie rock bands.
Pull quote
The pull quote is taken from the article about the band pictured. It gives the reader an idea of the tone of the feature.

This is a convention of a magazine contents. It shows clearly the information which is in smaller font on the cover

Rule of thirds
This contents page sticks to the convention of having the page in thirds. The main image and puff take up two thirds of the page and the height of the puff is roughly a third of the page vertically.

Editor’s letter
This is a convention of a contents. It gives a brief over view of what will be in the magazine and sometimes a personal insight. In Rocksound the editor’s letter is normally quite light hearted and funny which in keeps with the informal tone of the magazine. It is also accompanied by a different picture each week which has some time to do with one of the features.
Pull quote
It comes from an article in the magazine and relates to the picture it’s next to. It hints at the tone of the article and entices the reader to find out the content of the piece. The use of colour highlights the important part of the quote and fits in with the colour scheme.
Puff
The puff is in the style of a speech bubble to separate the editor’s letter from the rest of the page.
Images
The images correspond with the page numbers to give a taste of what the features will contain.
