As we went in they were warming up. Once all the classes were in the hall they started singing “Sing” by the Pentatonix. They then introduced themselves one by one and what their instruments are and do. They then did a song about gingerbread men with junior primary students dressed up like gingerbread people. Then 4 upper primary students did a fantastic dance to “Better When I’m Dancing”. Then was the parody of “Beat It”, “Eat It”. Some children threw food into giant mouths. Next up was an amazing song sung by Holly and Alice. They did a fantastic job at singing “We’re All Made of Stars”. There was then some very enthusiastic performers in the “Trololo” song running around the crowd. The next song was “Great Australian Bush is Like a Great Big Zoo” with Aussie animals. Then came some dancers from Mrs Liscombe’s class, dressed as cowboys/girls, dancing to “We’re from the Country”. Then some ghosts came out with ghostbusters chasing them, with the theme song from the movie “Ghostbusters”. Next was “Under the Sea”, from “The Little Mermaid” movie with fish, shark, and seaweed dancers. Finally was the finishing song “Hot, Hot, Hot” which ended with conga lines everywhere. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Dear Families,

Many thanks for your support and encouragement this term. Our students have completed the first semester and their efforts in learning will be reflected in their reports when distributed on Friday. Please read the reports with your children and acknowledge their efforts and help them to set goals for the remainder of the year.

We farewell Denise Lucas this week, as she embarks on the next chapter of her life in retirement. Denise has worked at our school for 13 years in the front office, classrooms and the library. Many thanks, to Denise for her care and support to our students and staff during this time. Good luck for the future, we hope it is filled with many adventures. Robyn Overduin will join the team next term contributing her many skills to the operations of the library and will continue to support our students.

Members of Governing Council met twice this term to contribute to the decision making and operations of the school. They are a valuable link between the community and the school. Due to work commitments two members have resigned leaving vacancies available to be filled. We encourage you to consider the opportunity to become a member of this important committee. For more information contact Nat in the front office or Julie Coe (Chairperson).

Recently staff, reflected on our progress towards the priorities in our Site Improvement Plan identifying our achievements and areas for development. The Numeracy Agreement has been clarified and it will be finalised next term. We have collaboratively planned units of work in year level groups, compared assessment tasks and moderated student work for consistency and to ensure opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning at higher levels. Teachers are exploring Digital Technologies and STEM and the contemporary teaching approaches supporting students to be designers, collaborators, problem solvers, risk takers and reviewers of their work. We are tracking well against the goals in our strategic plan.

We look forward to term 3 when students return refreshed and ready for the challenges in the learning program ahead.

Best wishes for the holiday break.

Debbie

ATTENDANCE - EVERYDAY COUNTS!!!

CASUAL DAY CELEBRATING NAIDOC WEEK On Monday students came to school dressed in red, black and yellow representing the colours of the Aboriginal flag for NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920’s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.

NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and is an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.

Many thanks to students who participated in the event, the money raised will contribute to the fireworks at the end of the year celebrations.

Our target is 95% student

attendance every week.

So close this week - 94%
