Transcript of MUSIC - Count Basie Theatre · Count Basie Theatre thanks its partners for their support of our...

The Count Basie Theatre Performing Arts Academy is home to the region’s most popular and comprehensive music performance programs!

ROCKIT! ACADEMY SUMMER BAND CAMPThe Rockit! Academy, our resident rock and roll performance program, is helmed by the nonprot Rockit! Live Foundation. Rockit’s summer band camp session explores the dynamics of playing in a live band, participating in a disciplined regimen on how to audition and perform with condence by forming their own bands and choosing their own songs. In the process, students learn about improvisation, music theory, and the history of rock and roll. Students will receive a copy of their work at the culmination of the camp.

BROADWAY FOR KIDS | SATURDAY, JULY 14Be the star! Here’s a perfect workshop for kids to express themselves as they transform into their favorite Broadway musical character. All fans have a favorite song, a scene or one liner that denes their passion for musical theater – here’s the spot to share that joy with fellow young enthusiasts.

11:30AM -1PM AGES: 6-8 • $40 INSTRUCTOR:SHERRI EHRLICH

HOW FAR YOU’LL GO! | SATURDAY, JULY 28This workshop uses the lessons learned from Disney’s Moana as the basis for creative theater activities. The importance of family, relationships and standing up for your beliefs will be the underlying theme of the class. Songs, theater games, visual arts activities and dancing will all be incorporated in this creative adventure.

11:30AM -1PM AGES: 6-8 • $40 INSTRUCTOR: SHERRI EHRLICH

SPOONFUL OF SUGAR | SATURDAY, AUGUST 4The lessons learned from Mary Poppins are certainly benecial to youngsters! Those silly lyrics and boisterous dances are life lessons in disguise, such as choosing friends wisely, caring for those less fortunate, adding elements of fun to everything you do… and sharing what you know! Theater games, singing, visual arts activities and movement will all be included in this whimsical Saturday morning experience.

11:30AM -1PM AGES: 4-6 • $40 INSTRUCTOR:SHERRI EHRLICH

LET IT GO… AND BE YOURSELF! | SATURDAY, AUGUST 11 The underlying messages in Disney’s Frozen lay the groundwork for this workshop. Kids will be reminded that nothing’s impossible, melting for a friend in need is sometimes worth it, and no amount of worrying can change the past. Your child will explore the music and characters of the popular tale as they reenact their favorite scenes and sing those wonderful melodic tunes.

11:30AM -1PM AGES: 6-8 • $40 INSTRUCTOR: SHERRI EHRLICH

RHYTHM, SONG AND DANCE | SATURDAY, AUGUST 18Using a variety of percussion instruments, pop tunes, and groovin’ moves, this workshop focuses on the rhythms all around us and how they can be transformative! A great way to get those creative energies owing and have a great deal of fun with new found friends.

11:30AM -1PM AGES: 4-6 • $40 INSTRUCTOR: SHERRI EHRLICH

MONDAYS MEISNER AND FILM FOR TEENS AND ADULTS II/IIISanford Meisner was a renowned teacher of the technique that now bears his name. His approach is widely respected and involves structured improvisational exercises that build on each other to bring the actor to a more instinctive performance level.
