Successful implementation of PBL is underpinned by the support and commitment of the whole school community. PBL is based on a three-tiered continuum of prevention and intervention: Tier 1 - Universal prevention: school-wide and classroom systems for all students, staff and settings. Tier 2 - Targeted interventions: small group systems for students at-risk behaviourally and academically. Tier 3 - Intensive interventions: systems for students with high-risk behaviour and/or learning needs. Positive Behaviour for Learning is an evidence- based whole school systems approach that: addresses the diverse academic and social needs of every student to support them to be successful supports students in early childhood settings through to senior years of schooling enables schools to establish a continuum of supports that are intensified to meet the needs of every student is team driven, using a problem solving approach (data, systems and practices) that engages students, parents and all school staff establishes positive social expectations for all in the school community provides a framework for the school and its community to collectively support the wellbeing of every student. When implemented well: students respond positively as they have been taught what is expected of them staff deliver consistent responses to student learning and behaviour students feel safe and cared for at school. Positive Behaviour for Learning

This afternoon all Murwillumbah East staff will be

involved in our first professional learning session

concerning Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).

Later next term a school team will travel to Coffs

Harbour for further professional learning

concerning Tier 1 Universal Preventions, with other

school teams from across the North Coast region.

PBL is a process that supports school teams to

create positive learning environments that ena-

ble student learning and wellbeing. Successful

implementation of PBL is underpinned by the

support and commitment of the whole school

community.

PBL is based on a three-tiered continuum of

p r e v e n t i o n a n d i n t e r v e n t i o n :

Tier 1 - Universal prevention: school-wide and

classroom systems for all students, staff and

settings.

Tier 2 - Targeted interventions: small group systems

for students at-risk behaviourally and

academically.

Tier 3 - Intensive interventions: systems for students

with high-risk behaviour and/or learning needs.

Positive Behaviour for Learning is an evidence-

based whole school systems approach that:

addresses the diverse academic and social

needs of every student to support them to be

successful

supports students in early childhood settings

through to senior years of schooling

enables schools to establish a continuum of

supports that are intensified to meet the needs of

every student

approach (data, systems and practices) that

engages students, parents and all school staff

establishes positive social expectations for all in

the school community

community to collectively support the wellbeing of

every student.

When implemented well:

students respond positively as they have been

taught what is expected of them

staff deliver consistent responses to student

learning and behaviour

students feel safe and cared for at school.

Their parents, family and community are more

be significantly reduced for most students.

I wish to thank our students, staff and families for a

great Term 1 and hope everyone enjoys a well

deserved break during the holidays.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day, Monday 25 April 2016

Commemorating ANZAC Day and other conflicts

each year is to ensure that the sacrifice of those

who died in war, or from war inflicted disabilities, is

never forgotten. Including the younger

generations in ANZAC Day Services makes them

aware of these sacrifices made for their freedom.

ANZAC Day, Monday 25 April 2016 is the last day

of the school holidays and each year we

encourage students to march as a collective

group. Our school will assemble in Main Street

opposite Post Office at 10.15am for march off to

the War Memorial at 10.30am. The service

commences at 10.45am. All students are asked to

wear full school uniform, including hat. As it is likely

to be very hot, marching with a small water bottle

is encouraged. Our School Councillors will lead our

school representatives and lay a wreath in honour

of the fallen.

SRC Thank you

A massive thank you to all students who supported

our SRC cake stall last Thursday. The fantastic

classes of KD, KW and KH baked up a storm. In

fact I think they were some of the BEST cakes ever!

A tremendous effort from our whole school

community! Thank you to the cooks, cleaners,

sellers and buyers. Well done everyone, $226 was

raised.
