Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)

All schools in Australia, including Murwillumbah East

PS, are required to participate in the Nationally

Consistent Collection of Data on school students

with disability. The national data collection is an

annual collection that provides the number of

school students with disability, and the level of

educational adjustment with which they are

provided. This national data collection collects

information about students with disability in a

consistent, reliable and systematic way. The

national data collection draws on and reflects the

ongoing work teachers and education staff do to

support students with disability. If you would like any

further information around the NCCD, or do not wish

your child to be included in the data collection,

please contact the school. Additional information

about the national data collection is available on

the Department of Education’s website at:

BYRON WRITERS FESTIVAL STORY BOARD VISIT AND

AUTHOR PRESENTATION

On Tuesday 7th May, 2019 our school is extremely

lucky to have a children’s book author visit, thanks

to Byron Writers Festival. The author is Zanni Louise.

Zanni will give a whole school presentation and

then conduct a writing workshop with the fortunate

Year 5 students for FREE! The Storyboard is an

initiative of Byron Writer’s Festival. It is a FREE

travelling creative workshop fostering the next

generation of readers and writers in the Northern

Rivers. It brings acclaimed authors and illustrators

directly to schools to work with students in all forms

of creative writing.

Byron Writers were incredibly generous and helpful

to our school after the 2017 flood. They donated

many books and allowed our students to attend the

author visits to the Civic Centre for FREE!

How exciting!

Permission notes and Book Order Forms are coming

home with Year 5 students today.

ANZAC Day 2019

The community of MEPS came together to pay

tribute to the first ANZACs and to all the brave

servicemen and women who have since followed

in their footsteps in a special service on the last

Friday of term 1.

To begin our formal service Mr Derek Billing, a

representative of the Murwillumbah RSL made an

opening address. His speech briefly explained the

history of ANZAC day and why it is important for all

Australians to remember this important day each

year. A huge thank you to Mr Billing for his valued

contribution to this service. It is also important to

recognise the leadership from our school

councillors who lead this service. They were

outstanding.
