Let’s think of Miss Maggie Thatcher, our much beloved iron lady – What happened to her? See, it is not a fashion model that keeps you in power. The current trends are definitely good and crazy hats, a dress that looks sleek as an easter egg and partying till late. But the times actually changed and the Queen Elizabeth II has no political power left at all – so, you see, sometimes you just go wrong with wearing accessoires like crowns which definitely never would have become a trend. Sorry Madame, you are so out of fashion!

A shouting voice, the neck of a bull and a broad back make this men the irresistible leader of Venezuela. His lovely curled black hair is usually covered by even more colourful hats than the one of the queen and his thick lips predestine him for the most powerful vacuum cleaner of South America. And even without looking gay he can easily stand to wear the most fantastic uniforms that not only express the creativity of his nation but also their cocaine consumption. Message from OuttaraDear highly respected Delegates of the Repub-licc of Côte d‘Ivoire,I am very happy, that you are eligible of representing my famous and beloved country in your assigned committee, and hope, that you will earn the respect you deserve as a diplomat of our glorious nation. The Côte d‘Ivoire stands for tradition and the values of unity, discipline and labour over generations. Our diplomacy is well known and respected all over the world. From the Asi-an continent to western democracies, from southern republics to northern states, the Côte

d‘Ivoire has allies, friends and respected cultu-res with different values. We are always trying

to solve problems peacefully and supposed to show this in negotiations.I demand the very best of you in the upcoming days in order to continue years of successful planted and gro-wing international relations in Africa, and of course, the whole United Nations.

Honorable Delegates of Côte d’Ivoire,We would hereby like to welcome you of-ficially to the National Model United Na-tions (NMUN) Conference 2012. As you have prepared yourself well and obtained a hard training during the past months, you will now have the possibility to prove your abilities in a “Real World” context. You will address global issues that matter – as well as you will get involved personally in challen-ging and rewarding discus-sions with people from all over the world. This year’s NMUN hosts more than 300 schools and universities from different countries with a variety of different cultural back-grounds.As representatives of Côte d’Ivoire you are also repre-senting your school and your home country. Bear in mind that others may judge you not only by your abili-ties to debate during the committee sessions, but furthermore by your appearance and behavior when walking down the Marriott floors or even the streets of NYC.As you already might have noticed, the hotel is filling more and more with other delega-tions. This huge amount of people will reach

its peak by today’s afternoon. As a result, the Marriott elevators may reach their limit of capacity very quickly. It is not uncommon during NMUN that taking the fire steps will get you to your conference rooms more quickly than using the elevator. So don’t be afraid to use them ;) You will pretty sure meet other delegates bursting up and down the fire steps – which is a good opportunity to get in touch with them.

Having said this, do not forget what NMUN is all about: Having fun! Don’t take everything too serious, nor refrain from meeting other delegates when you’re out of committee sessions. The people you’ll meet the-re could turn out to become long lasting friendships asi-de from NMUN.We as head delegates are convinced that you did a very good job and would like to thank you for being

such a productive and inspiring delegation. We are sure that you will enjoy the next days – as well as we are sure that this event will leave a long lasting impression.May the force be with you,Andreas & Augustinus

Newsupdate

The last days have been pretty turbulent for the glorious nation of elephants and cocoa. So here is a short update about our country:1. Sanctions against roitersAfter counceling with Burkina Faso, Bali and the ECOWAS Côte d‘Ivoire closed the bor-ders to Mali, furthermore we stopped all fi-nancial transactions with our neighbour. On the 22 of March Mali had a military revolt, caused by the touareg-roits in the northern part of the country. After the heavy stuggles the former president Amadou Toumani Tou-re is now hiding with loyal militarys near the

capital of Mali, Bamako.2. New trading system in cocoa industry es-tablished.The new cocoa trading system (now mainly sold by public auctions) has been successful implemented. After Outara forced it in Ja-nuary by Law many companys feared explo-ding prices, but an excessive raise of cocoa-prices of the worlds largest producer was not observed. 3. MTA announces 3G for Côte d‘IvoireAfter negotiations the telecommunication-specialist MTA will start to sprad 3G in CdI.
