Cyclone Nargis hits the country of Myanmar, and suddenly, unexpectedly, thousands aredead, millions are missing.

An earthquake ravages an area in Chinawith the same devastating results.Even in the states, whether its hurricane

Katrina or tornadoes that wreak havoc in themidwest and southeast, we see the results of anearth that is anything but natural.

Dr. Kennedy used to say that this is not thenatural world, but rather the unnatural worldwith all of its disease, death, storms, and sinfarremoved from the earth God created before Adamand Eves fall.

As an evangelism ministry, we try to respondas best as we can to bring hope in these situationsthat seem so hopeless. But limited resources andmanpower handicap us. Yet, we press on.

EE teams from churches across the southeastministered in the areas hit hard by hurricaneKatrina. Like I said, we try to minister where wecan.

I am especially encouraged by our effortsin Myanmar. Currently, EE eld workers are

ministering there. The report I received from ourMyanmar Director, Rev. U. Toe Toe, indicatesthat 20 EE-trained people responded quickly andhave had wonderful results in just four months ofministry. Now, they see the extensive needs anddesire to remain there at great cost to them and

their families. My urgent plea to you is to help them. Rev

Toe Toe says that for $120, each eld worker canremain in these areas for one month. Considergiving $1,440 and sponsoring a eld worker forone year. The article on page 12 will give youinformation on how to give.

Thank you so much for considering thisurgent need.

EE continental vice presidents have vast regions to cover with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet, following Dr. Kennedys

challenge for them to plant EE in every nation on earth, they accomplished that mission in 1996. They continue to press on,

EE is now taking part inGods redemptive plan amonga tribal group that escapedfrom a restricted access nationin Southeast Asia. Recently, an

EE clinic was conducted withthe tribe.

Spreading out over vevillages, teams shared theGospel with 74 individuals and35 of them made professions offaith in Christ.

Please pray for the 35 new believers and that the HolySpirit will continue to work inthe hearts of the others who

    heard the Good News.

    Rev. George Verzea

After I preached in achurch in Holland, a youngwoman approached me andintroduced me to her friend. She told me that her friendattended this church for a year, but didnt understand any ofthe teaching. She asked me,Can you help her?

I made an appointmentwith her and had the

opportunity to present theGospel. This confused youngwoman made a profession offaith in Christ with tears in hereyes.

Our meeting alsopresented a great opportunityto challenge her to be trained inEvangelism Explosion as well,

so that she too could share herfaith in Christ.

This new Christiancontacted me later to expressher strong desire to be baptizedas soon as possible.

    In Brazil, children are

sharing with their parents andgrandparents using Kids EE!

Most Brazilian childrenlearn easily through visualmaterials. Therefore, EE-Brazilhas adapted the complete set ofKids EE materials. A life-sizeddoll named Longinho comesto life, connecting everythingthrough a common threadevident to the children.

The utilization of objectssuch as a slime egg (RottenEgg illustration showing manssinfulness) appeals to childrenwho prefer hands-on learning

activities. Result: Through theKids EE methods of teachingand materials, children are ableto learn and retain the Gospelpresentation.

A Kids EE clinic was heldin April in Rio de Janeiro at theNew Life Pentecostal ChurchTwo are scheduled in the near

future for So Paulo, one in thelarge capital city and anotherin a small interior city.

Hospital chaplainsand volunteers dealingwith terminally ill childrenhave been equipped in aworkshop in late July.

Like other EE ministries,Kids EE in Brazil worksChildren are being reached,

and increasing numberswill be on a path to becomelifelong lifestyle evangelists

and train others. This wasvery encouraging to theleadership of the clinic.

During the clinic, twoteams went out for on-the- job training in a villagecalled Tiediana Seguere. The people of this villageare very involved in cultand idol worship. Thesevillage people have accusedthe church and its people, before the governmentcourts, of trying to destroytheir culture. This was anongoing threat.

We praise Godthat in this very hostileenvironment, 22 peoplemade professions of faith in Jesus. Our hope is that thiswill begin to transform thisvillage for the Lord!

Statistically the Hispanicpopulation continues itsgrowth in the States. AndEE is reaching them with theGospel and equipping themto be faithful witnesses.

Recently, EvangelismExplosion conducted aSpanish Share Your FaithWorkshop in Houston,Texas. Share Your Faith

Workshops are intended toprovide an opportunity forlocal churches or Christianorganizations to equip everymember with a simple, easy-

to-remember tool for sharingones faith with others.

Coordinating thisclinic was Will Rodriguez,EE Regional Director forthe Hispanic Ministries inNorth America. There were176 participants from eightchurches new to EE.

The Lord continuesto bless the work beingdone at the D. James and

Anne Kennedy InternationalTraining Center for WorldEvangelismFiji Campus.

Tevita was trained inEvangelism Explosion duringa 2007 clinic in Fiji at theCenter. Since then, he wasa part of a church plant inthe Highlands. Tevita is awonderful example of ayoung person sold out to

Christ, living out his faith ona daily basis.

Recently, Tevita visiteda homeless Indian woman.First, he gave her all of hismoney. Then he shared theGospel with her. The Indianwoman made a professionof faith in Christ. A fewweeks later, Tevita wastalking with a friend. In mid-

conversation he stopped aman who was passing by.Tevita quickly learned thatthis man was contemplatingsuicide. Again, Tevita shared

the Gospel and the man alsoasked Christ into his heart.

Another individualAdi, was led to faith inChrist at the Fiji Center bytwo American interns. Lessthan a year later, she joinedan EE team as an internherself. In less than a year, she went from not havinga relationship with Godto teaching, training, andsharing with others just howthey could have that samerelationship.

Following a devastatingcyclone named Nargis that hitthe Myanmar coast in May,Evangelism Explosion sent in 20implementation eld workers to

assist with relief efforts and share the love ofJesus.

From the beginning, our Directorfor EE in Myanmar, Rev. U. Toe Toe, hadplanned for this outreach to be long-term.

After working in hard-hit areas, these eldworkers see the importance of remaining inthese areas for one to three years. They havemade contact with many people who wishfor them to stay, share the Gospel throughEE, and bring more and more of their peopleto a relationship with Christ.

Initial funding for this project isrunning low. Please help us to keep our eldworkers in these areas where much help, both spiritual and physical, is needed. Theyare making a tremendous sacrice, yet stillmake great gains for the Kingdom of God.

Read the testimonies of ve of oureld workers who continue their outreach.Said Rev. U Toe Toe, Although they arepoor in food and accommodations, they

have a great love for the Lord. There aremany areas that need our help, so we haveto stand on our own feet. Please continuepraying for us. They say, We thank God and Jesusfor healing us.

Ko Saw HlaingI am Ko Saw Hlaing who has served as anEE Myanmar & Tsunami eld worker. When

Nargis hit Myanmar, U Naw Church joinedwith EE Myanmar and formed a responseministry. I have had a chance to serve asan EE eld worker and Im very grateful toGod. Now Im serving at Kun Thee Chaungwhere there are no believers. While theywere helpless and disappointed, I reachedthem and with some knowledge that Ihave in music, I sang to them the songswhich made them smile. After awhile theyjoined singing with me. Then, I prayed forthem, to look up to me with their sad eyesand pleaded help. I tried to help them asmuch as I can and I always tell them I canhelp them only by the grace of God andwhenever I mention that, they agree withme. Now they can also say, Thank youJesus whenever I nish saying, this is bythe grace of God.

Aye Aye ThaungMy name is Aye Aye Thaung and I am verythankful to God for using me as one of the

Nargis eld workers. While the men arebuilding houses, I gather the children whowere afraid and they would follow me.When they followed me, I was able to teachthem the Gospel and now they repeat theBible verses and sing songs with me.

I prayed with them, visited their places, taught them about eternal life and nowthey can sleep when they go to bed. I havebeen very attached to them now. I am nowserving near Bogalay district at Tha Pyanvillage.

Naw Bah Blut HtooI am called Naw Bah Blut Htoo. My grouphas been appointed to serve at Tha ZinGone village. I am a nurse so I serve in the

for the villagers health. The cuts, hurts, anddysentery are everywhere. Before curingthem or giving them medications, I prayfor them rst. I told them that because Godloves us, He sent His Son Jesus. He sentme to help them. After telling them abouteternal life, whenever I nish giving themtreatment, they say We thank God andJesus for healing us.

U Saw Thein HtiMy name is U Saw Thein Hti. I am 63years old. I cant help the Nargis victimswith money, but I still have my health andstrength. So I volunteer to help rebuildtheir lives as one of the EE Myanmareld workers. When they thanked me forbuilding houses for them, I shared withthem about our Savior and told them thatGod has planned for them more beautiful

houses for them in Heaven. They respondedwith professions of faith in the Lord! In theThazin Gon village where I serve, 16 peoplehave accepted Christ.

Kyaw Swa Win MaungMy name is Kyaw Swa Win Maung. I am anEE Nargis eld worker serving at Kalah Gyivillage. I am staying with the villagers andhelping for three months. I live with them, eat with them, work with them, and now Ihave become one of their family members.I report their needs for food, shelter, andclothing, to Rev. Toe Toe (EE MyanmarDirector) and he announces the needsduring church services. The villagers wantme to stay with them permanently, but Ihave my wife and two daughters in Yangon. However, God has given me compassionfor them, so I committed to stay with themfor three years. There are no Christians in

this village. So I serve my Savior and sharethe Gospel with them until God openstheir hearts and they profess Christ astheir Savior. Only when I get the fruits/thebelievers, I will leave the Kalah Gyi.3

By The Hand is an after-school program with anemphasis on academics and

a commitment to nurturingthe whole childmind,

For Kids began in the Chicagoarea in 2001 with 16 children. Itstarted as a ministry of MoodyChurch. It has become sosuccessful that it now partnerswith the Chicago public schoolsand the Chicago HousingAuthority.

Some of Chicagos mostimpoverished inner citycommunities benet from theprogram. Today, By The HandClub For Kids ministers tomore than 600 children.

All of our kids arerecommended by schoolprincipals as kids in criticalneed of intervention, saysDonita Travis, By The HandDirector. So we are veryclosely connected to the city.

The program is llinga special need with greatsuccess. Kids are saying no todrugs, gang violence, and teenpregnancy. They are rejectingilliteracy and poverty as a way

of life. And Kids EE was with ByThe Hand from its inception in2001. Don and Suzy Warren,Kids EE Trainers, met Donitaduring an EE clinic in 2000.

Donita and three other ladiesfrom Moody stayed at ourhome during the clinic, recallsSuzy. After the clinic, Donitatold us, I want to do this, andwe told her that we wantedto help her. They began a

Freida Howard Ivy, a ByThe Hand staffer for six years, knows personally the impactof Kids EE upon the students.Kids are able to understandexactly what happened onthe cross, why it happened,

and Gods whole purpose forsending His Son, she says.

One of the kids whose lifewas changed through By TheHand and Kids EE is 11-year-old Jonte Durr. I was a bad kid, getting Fs in school, and beinga bully, he recalls. I came hereand learned that I dont deserveto go to Heaven, but Godsent Jesus to save us. Jontes

grades are much improvedand he shares his faith in Jesusregularly.

Freida was emphatic aboutEEs impact in their community. We have used EE during someof the roughest times in ourcommunity and introduced itto some of our most notoriousgang leaders, drug users, and other offenders in thecommunity, Freida exclaims. It is an amazing tool.

A sister ministry of ByThe Hand is called Club for BigKids, otherwise known as CBK.

In 2009, CBK will minister tokids in grades 9-12. Currently, itincludes kids in grade 8.

Bethany Arvan directsthe 80 students of CBK witha holistic approach. There isan academic component andspiritual component, too. Sohopefully, as they have given

their lives to Christ, they are

having an impact in theirschools, she says.

Since the high school kidshave learned EE early on, CBKteaches an EE refresher courseonce a year. They are sharingtheir faith and encouraging theirfriends, Bethany says.3

clinician, Keith exclaims. Weunderstand that this is morethan an opportunity for themto pick up this great tool. Thisis an opportunity for them toreceive a vision, get rejuvenatedspiritually, and set a standardfor worship and service to theLord that will ignite them andgive them a passion to reachthe lost.

    World Class OutreachRev. Keith Hutchings

had a vision for evangelismwhen he rst arrived at Second

Ebenezer Church in Detroit,MI. He was trained in EE. Butit wasnt until Keith attendedan EE clinic, that God gave hima vision that aligned with hispastors vision to have a trulyworld class outreach.

Keith is now ChiefOperating Ofcer and Ministerof Evangelism and Discipleshipat Second Ebenezer. He

conducted the rst EE clinicthere in 2003. Since then, theyhave been an EE clinic-base.

Since being here, saysKeith, we have stabilizedthis neighborhood throughthings like life skill programs, economic programs, and building new housing. ForSecond Ebenezer, the goal isbuilding relationships and then

truly connecting with peoplethat transform lives. With thatmindset, their EE ministry hastruly become rst class.

    Also, the EE ministry

is woven into the fabric ofmost of their other outreachopportunities. One of themincludes networking withother churches. SecondEbenezer decided to reach outto other fellowships aroundthem, introduce these pastorsto the EE training, rst get themtrained, then encourage themto attend an EE clinic. Thisway you have the pastoralleadership attending clinics,Keith says, which makes formore effective implementation. We continue to network with

these churches and it helpsthem absorb the small details

involved in implementationand maintaining a solidministry.

It also creates a strong base for community outreach. With Second Ebenezers innercity setting in Detroit, a strongbase is critical in reaching sucha diverse community.

Second Ebenezer Churchsconnection with pastors is thebasis for EEs new LeadershipTraining Cell that bringspastors together to better reach

    their communities.Second Ebenezer also

encourages individuals eachyear to attend an EE clinicThey get a much betterunderstanding of what weretrying to accomplish in ministryand they become strongertrainers, stronger leadersthroughout the ministry, saysKeith.

According to Keithsexperiences, those engaged withEE become the most spirituallymature leaders in the churchEE takes the methods of Christ

and teaches people how to bespiritually disciplined.

Keith sees EE as not justan evangelism tool, but also adiscipleship tool. EE equipspeople how to share theirfaith, he says, brings peopleto Christ, and teaches peoplehow to be disciplined in theLord. Weve never approachedit just as an evangelism tool

Pastors have multiple needsWitnessing to people is critical but having a tool that creatediscipleship in the leadership isvitally important.3

Before Arts arrival,PF and the Commissionerconsidered a plan toimplement Prison EE inevery prison on the Island. In an effort to ensure thesuccess of the program, theCommissioner decided torst train his ofcers and

During the seminar,I shared with the grouphow Trinidad will make

history through their honestand unselsh effort to seeinmates lives transformed,Art says. Prison EE has anunprecedented 2.3 percentrecidivism rate on recordwhich indicates that almostall prisoners who take ourcourse and are released donot go back to prison.

    Trinidad ofcials intend

to put Prison EE to theultimate test. We welcomethe challenge, Art exclaims, because we know thatPrison EE is bathed in Gods
