...a tool for ecological intensification
Multi stakeholders platform in partnership for integrated and participatory research and training
• to co-invent and promote an ecologically intensive and sustainable agriculture :
• to conceive in a participatory way production systems relying upon biological, ecological and socioeconomical process.
• to develop pathways for innovation, adoption and exchanges related to the development of an ecologically intensive and climate smart agriculture.
• to devise indicators, tools, metrics and methodology for a multi criteria assessment of the production system’s performance and impacts of innovations.

SPAD SCIENCE:
Interactions between technical practices and disease damages (pyriculariosis) on upland rice have been understood.
DEVELOPMENT:Recommendations are published on appropriate rice varieties and agricultural practices in specific environments.
POLICIES: The importance of linking livestock development to rice production support is now taken into account by public policies.
CANSEASCIENCE:
Conservation Agriculture (CA) systems are tested in a regional innovation network using similar methods and evaluation tools.
DEVELOPMENT:CA systems performance and conditions for adoption are increasingly documented at national and regional levels; pilot extension of CA rice systems becomes component of large scale irrigation project.
POLICIES: CA is recognized at national and regional level as a promising pathway towards ecological agricultural intensification
ASAP SCIENCE:
The rationality of crop-livestock systems stakeholders concerning the production and management of natural resources in a context of global change is better understood.
DEVELOPMENT:Innovative systems are developed, on line with ecological intensification of agricultural production, and integrated management of natural resources and spaces.
POLICIES: Natural processes and local knowledge are taken into account in agricultural policies to intensify production.

“Partnership Platforms for Research and Training (dP) are set up by diverse STI institutions which agree to pool together resources (especially human resources), in the long term (at least 5 years), on a common development challenge and in a given location, through a jointly defined research and innovation agenda and under a shared governance. Cirad is currently involved in 21 Partnership Platforms (dP) in Africa, South East Asia and Latin America “.
