Transcript of Multi Purpose Playground

  • The research behind the Multipurpose Sports Facilities project is the result of extensive national studies concerning young people's attitudes towards sport, and their requirements. The studies have revealed a need for multipurpose facilities which can be used both for the training and teaching of athletics and other key sports, and for amateur competition. Following this study, a Multipurpose Sports Facilities project can be applied to various sporting disciplines such as athletics, basketball, volleyball and 5-a-side football. The playing surfaces can be developed with the aid of the top federations of the sports involved, after discussions on optimisation of space, limiting costs, and all aspects of player safety. The ultimate aim is to create a healthy environment in which basic sports can be practiced so that young people can grow, develop, and learn to appreciate sport. The project is targeted at various institutions which recognise the important social function of sport, and its capacity to create not only the talented athletes of the future but also individuals with sound principles. Small and medium-sized towns, parishes, schools and other institutions which have no need of large-scale sports facilities for top-level activity will find that the proposals of this study match their social requirements.

  • The idea of a multi-purpose playground is excellent and the majority of schools and councils have turned to this type of court. It means that by incorporating a mix of games the area can be used by a large cross section of the community, which of course represents value for money as well as providing a true sport facility.

The dimensions of multipurpose grounds vary usually from 37mts x 20mts down to 32mts x 18mts. It depends on which sports have priority and availability of funds. The most common sports are Netball, Basketball, Volleyball and Tennis or a combination thereof. The actual dimensions are as follows: Netball 30.5mts x 15.25mts Basketball 28.0mts x 15.0mts Volleyball 18.0mts x 9.0mts Tennis 23.77mts x 10.97mts With Advantage Sports and Leisures extensive experience in the construction of concrete and road base synthetic grass multipurpose grounds, (over 40 constructed in the last two years), allow us to assist you with your design.

SURFACES Our surfaces are designed to be installed over concrete, asphalt or compacted road base. This latter construction method is extremely popular in areas where the cost of concrete/asphalt is prohibitive. Apart from cost, we find that the resilience of synthetic grass over road base is more forgiving than concrete, giving more player comfort, particularly for young players. Synthetic grass also gives a natural and attractive appearance, is cool and blends into the landscaping.

Hard courts continue to be popular with schools and councils as it is the preferred surface for Basketball and Netball, which are popular sports. A well constructed hard court surfaced with Rebound Synpave also provides excellent economy over the long term, usually only requiring a resurface with topcoat every 8 10 years.

  • Multipurpose Courts Multipurpose courts allow a more sports to be played on the one surface, thereby vastly improving the usage of the area

and the facility. Combining as many sports as possible into a given area is the

single best way of stimulating interest in your facility. For families at home this allows far more time spent

using and enjoying your court. For clubs, schools and accommodation camps this

means more participants either at one time or overall. This can be measured in terms of revenue received or

players per square metre per unit of time. Multipurpose Courts can be constructed using any of the

    surfaces we offer: Synthetic Grass
